Love my sparkle skirts! I'm trying to decide on one...I'm thinking berry smoothie for the full.
I love mine too! I have a sparkle light skirt in magenta that I might be wearing. I'll have to figure out what to wear with it.

I love my husband dearly but he is killing me. He works such crazy hours and is constantly putting in large amounts of OT. Every time he tries to leave work on time, a new case will pop up and he'll have to go out again. This has always affected my ability to go running. On the weeks he has his early AM tour, I have to get up at 3 AM to use the gym to get my runs in because he leaves for work at 5. If I don't go then, I can't run because I have work and when I get home, I have the kids. This week is his late tour and he doesn't start until 3 PM, but I'm up by 5 so I can get a run in in the roads and then get the kids ready for camp (soon school) and then go to work. Lately he's been coming home at 3 or 4 in the morning during his PM week and it breaks my sleep. I should just get up and stay up but then I'm up for the rest of the day. Ugh. I'm so tired, it's not funny. I know he's tired too so I really try not to complain but I can't function! Ok, I just needed to get that of my chest.

And now my problems getting my runs in are in no way a big deal. Just reading this makes me exhausted! I can't imagine being in your situation so I have no advice, just :grouphug:

Hugs to you!! I feel your frustration! My hubby works two jobs yet always finds time to cycle!!
My only saving grace right now is my kids have started soccer practice at a park that has a 1 mile loop. Three practices a week means I can at least get a few miles in, and lots of girl talk with the other moms. I "may have" signed my oldest up against his will so I could have some socialization. :)

I hope it gets better for you!!

To continue with costume ideas- I got a dark turquoise running skirt and matching tank and matching long-sleeved top. I am going to make a gold belt and crown and be Merida:). Can't wait! May even look for some red curly extensions for my ponytail:p

It's more like sparkly shades of lime green glittery -- I think it looks sparklier in the pictures under the lights in my kitchen. It is prettier and probably a little more subtle in real life -- these pics were taken with my iPhone and are not of the best quality.

I will be sure and look for you at the WISH meet! :flower3:

Does anyone know if you can walk to the starting area from OKW? I know there are no sidewalks, but don't figure there'll be a lot of car traffic in that area at 4:00 in the morning. Just thought I'd do that as a warm up, if possible.

Well, I did it. The lure of Disney characters on a rubbery "medallion" was too much to resist. I am in for DOPEY! ...

Yep, me too. I saw the picture on Facebook and it was all over. :upsidedow Here's some more of my money, Disney! :rolleyes2 Hope the shirt is cute, too.

We land in Orlando in 21 weeks. How did a year become 21 weeks? Anyone?

:scared1: WHAAA? That is alarming!

I stayed there before and would recommend the bus. It didn't seem like a long wait, and there aren't many direct routes to getting where you need to go. On foot you might end up walking a lot farther than you think you would.

I'm staying there again this year and plan on using the bus.

I've never stayed at OKW, but I agree with Reep...take the bus. I think walking to the start is frowned on, and I'm a rule-follower through and through...wouldn't want to be barred from the start because I wanted to sleep an extra 30 minutes.

I don't want to start a debate about this, but personally, I don't understand wanting to walk to the start. I've participated in 2 race weekends and the bus transportation (from PORS and the Boardwalk) was pretty good. If you catch the bus early you shouldn't have a problem. :confused3

I am an AKL-aholic, but I say don't walk to the start no matter where you stay. The long, dark walk from the EPCOT parking lot is a bonding experience for all the runners, especially the first timers.

Yeah, the roads around Epcot are very dark and it isn't even clear where you would walk. I'm pretty sure most do not have sidewalks either. And, some will lead you to dead end staff entrances only. Bad news all around.

Being a DL half legacy guy, I really do enjoy walking from the hotel to the race start. Seems so simple and if you forget something (which I seem to do) you can just walk back. Nice. But, WDW is set up differently. The bus is your friend.

I also agree the walk from the hype area to the corrals is kind of fun. Except when it is 27 degrees with a wind chill into the teens.

I agree. A lot of people grumble about it but I think this is a great warm-up and chance(s) to hit the porta-potties before the start. The anticipation builds up during that walk and you can hear the runDisney folks over the loud speakers from the starting line. The only depressing part of the walk for me is seeing the old Backlot Tour trams (just sort of jarring) and the Lights of Winter wrapped in plastic.

GASP!! This is alarming considering I haven't done any running for the past week+ as I try to fully recover my pulled muscle. I feel like I'm going to be starting from scratch once I slowly start back up (hopefully this weekend!)...! :(

And, I need to book my flight! I am seriously considering staying all the way until the Friday after the marathon. If I'm going to spend the $$ to fly down, I might as well stick around for a while! :sunny:

Not to start a debate for the other way....

I have walked from OKW and it is not bad (there is a thread somewhere in the last 6 weeks talking about this). The trick is to walk out through the cast member parking lot next to bldg 15 and across from bldg 17. Once you hit Vacation Way it's an eighth of a mile walk to Bonnet Creek. Use caution crossing Bonnet and be ready to show your bib as you cross the canal. Once past security, you are at the second corral, ish.

The positives...
- It's a short walk, possibly shorter than from the bus drop off to the start.
- You go directly to the corral
- You can walk over a little later

The negatives...
- Unless you head out VERY early, you will have problems swimming upstream through runners to get to the bag check...So do not plan on checking a bag
- I have heard of folks being turned back at the security point. Cannot remember the year and do not know if it were rumor or fact. Where's SNOPES when you need it.
- Honestly, you miss some of the Disney magic by missing the staging area. Where else can you be lead by Mr P90x Personally in a morning warm up?
- You still must ride the bus home.
- as a 14 year veteran, I love the staging area as I am sure to see friends I have made through the years.

I stay OKW about every 4 years. I see several folks walking to the start from there and am thinking it through this year. Most likely I will ride the bus rather than walk for the half just to have a my personal post run stuff so its the full I am thinking about. I more than likely will not decide until I understand the weather and how I feel. Even with that I am probably riding.

Hey everyone!

I am currently training for the TOT 10-miler and have decided to bite the bullet and sign up for the full. Anyone else think I'm nuts? I do.

Do you think I have enough time to train? The farthest I've ran so far is 8 miles. I know I have some time, but I definitely don't want to injure myself.

You can do it if you do a Hal Higdon plan, or maybe a Jeff Galloway run/walk plan! I would be VERY careful and back off if you get injured.

Is anyone else on this thread who is going Goofy not doing any other races between now and then? Just wondering if I'm the only one who is going from here straight to Goofy. :) And I'd be curious to know what your training plan is. I'm sort of following Galloway's plan. My long run is up to 7 miles.

Just joining this thread now that I've signed up for Goofy!
My neice and I will be doing it together.
We need lots of advice and stories!
Also, what plans do you use.
I've used Hal Higdon's since I started doing halves. I have many under my belt now!:cool1:

Can't wait to see you all there!

P.S. Is "Dopey" adding the 5K family race?
