(sorry if this was asked before...the thread is toooo long)

No Photopass, but Brightroom is there to take pics of the event and the character handlers will use your camera for photo ops if you want.

Note a couple things...

Not every character will have a photographer. If you may be disappointed due to missing a special character, then bring your own camera.

Brightroom is a little pricy, but generally, their work is good. If you bring your own camera, the handler will snap a shot as well as Brightroom if they are at that spot.... It gives you a second chance for a shot.

Hope this helps

No music for me either unless I come into the race well undertrained. I love to hear the surroundings and it has saved my butt more than once. I will wear on a mill but even then, I try to keep unplugged in an effort to mentally toughen myself.

WIth regard to shoes, seems like we are all over the marketplace. Just a word to the 2-3 folks who are trying to make shoes last ... exercise care as a worn out shoe is hard to judge. Better to not push them out too long.

For me, I am a Newton runner.

I love my Newtons  I couldn't imagine ever owning another brand of shoe. They forced me to run with better form, and I just felt so much lighter and faster in them.
As for the music...well, I need my tunes! I hate it that I can't listen to my ipod during the run portion of the triathlon. Some of my faves:
- Kings and Queens by 30 Seconds to Mars
- Litany by Guadacanal Diary
- Move Along by All American Rejects
- Brand New Day by Trevor Hall
And some random mix of various current and catchy pop tunes!

I wear Saucony progrid in a nice, roomy wide and no more bruised toenails!

For music, I never wear headphones but when I run in an empty area I'll play it on my ipod so I can hear it. When I run in the city/in a race I just go music less. My preferred songs are:
Run by Vampire Weekend (always seems appropriate)
and my Disney song of choice is One Jump Ahead from Aladdin. Gotta run away from those palace guards.

I'll dance along to Jump Jive and Wail by Brian Setzer and always dance along to Time Warp from Rocky Horror. This proved exceptionally difficult and awkward on a treadmill so now I just watch the news.

I mostly run in Saucony Kinvara 2's. I have 2 pairs that I alternate with each run but I think they're on their last few miles. They both only have about 200-250 miles on them but during my 5 mile tempo run today I was feeling some tightness in my left knee that made me back off a bit. I've been wanting to try Brooks Pure Flow for a while now and I think I have an excuse to get a pair now :thumbsup2

I don't listen to music too much when I run. I watch shows that I've Tivo'd if I'm on the treadmill and when I run outside with DH neither of us listens to music. If I'm running outside alone I'll listen sometimes and I have to admit I like to listen to songs from Glee :confused3

I go back and forth on having headphones on when I'm running. Sometimes I'll download podcasts and listen to those. But I've gone out on morning runs without my ipod and only heard the gravel under my feet. Very peaceful.

But when I do use music, I listen to a lot of Pearl Jam. One of my favorites is Unthought Known. It has a great end of the race, raising your arms in triumph crossing the finish line feel to it. Rise up from the Into the Wild soundtrack is good also. As is The Long Road from Dead Man Walking.

I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I listen to pop music when I run. Catchy, auto-tuned, monotonous pop music. However, when not running, I like old school 80s punk and alternative, Canadiana folk, and other way better music. I find I need sexy, upbeat music when I run, and unfortunately NIN is just too dark to keep me running the next mile.

I do chose to listen to music when I am running with other people or well-traveled routes. When alone in unfamiliar places, or at night or early morning I keep my ears alert. Unfortunate reality for women runners. I've also encountered loose dogs, and so try to keep alert in places where they are more likely.

Hubby and I are officially registered for the half! So super excited to be doing my first one in my favorite place, with my favorite person. Hubby has promised this isn't a "race" and he'll stay with me. :)

I hope to find the peaceful bliss of running, but right now, as I'm trying to run for more than two minutes at a time when it's still 98 degrees at 9pm-there's nothing blissful or peaceful about it. I have podcasts of my favorite radio show I listen to.

I do listen to music while out, and my playlist is all over the place. A little up tempo Billy Joel, a little techno, a little modern pop, some Coldplay, and many others.

The songs that give me a boost are "Almost There" from Tianna, "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan (both suggested by my 5 yo), and a bunch of wrestler entrance songs from WWE.

Don't laugh! Those wrestler songs are all up tempo and are all about kicking butt and taking names. I find they give me a little boost when I'm struggling.

But like other posters, I have very different favorite songs when I'm not training.

Congrats!!! DH stayed with me this year during our first half and it was awesome accomplishing that goal and crossing the finish line together. You'll be more in love for it <3

All signed up for 3 days of racing. The new course for the full should be interesting....more congestion at the castle and more time out on the hot highway...but hopefully worth it for the run through Wide World of Sports.

Just had a look at the park hours with the updated EMH for our trip and I have to say I'm a bit bummed about not having any EMH nights in Epcot during our entire trip. Could they be skipping the normal Friday EMH in Epcot due to the races that weekend?

Which characters are usually out during the 1/2?

No way to tell, really. I think it varies from year to year, and they seem to like to throw in some randoms here and there (example: Professor Ludwig Von Drake in 2012). :confused3

But from my limited experience in Disney races, here are ones I THINK you can count on:

- A character in front of the Lunching Pad in Magic Kingdom (Buzz, Stitch, Space Pluto or Space Chip and Dale??)
- Characters in front of the Mad Tea Party (Alice, Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum or Mad Hatter??)
- Characters in front of the castle (Lady Tremaine and step-sisters? Prince Charming? Suzie and Perla?)
- Characters at the finish (most likely a classic - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy or Goofy)

Those are complete guesses...just what I've seen running races myself and reading other reports. And that's a bare minimum list...you'll see the most characters in Magic Kingdom and lots of others as well. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

You can't know for sure until you are running but I usually look at the photos on brightroom to see what they had last year

Possibly. Doubtful though. They have maintained the Friday night EMH for previous race weekends. It may be that they are switching the days up. I know they are shrinking the evening EMH down to 2 hours.

Each race I've done has varied with characters. But I have always been please with the variety and randomness.

Agreed! The characters are a huge part of why I run these things! ;)

And who doesn't want to run at the happiest Place on Earth?

I loved my picture with the male characters! SOOO cool!

Did 5.5 miles today and It was all I could do to finish. This heat is really making it tough. I don't know how I'm going to be able to do 26.2:worried:
