I'm excited about the new course. It appears there will be more to look at and distract me from the reality that I am actually running 26.2 miles!!

How's this for similarities? When I ran the Disney marathon this past year, I'd run 3 half marathons (one at Disney - the Princess Half - and 2 not at Disney), and my half PR was...2:34.
I agree with everyone else that you absolutely have the capability to train for and finish the marathon...the issue is going to be scheduling the training. They aren't posted yet, but the Jeff Galloway training plans involved 3 days per week of running (2 of the days are 45-minute runs, I think, and then your long run). Maybe one of these will work for you. I don't have kids, but like RunRookie, I do get my runs in before work, and while it's really tough getting up before the sun is up, this is the best way for me to get the runs in without feeling like I'm losing significant time later in the day.
If you can think of a way to fit in your training, go for it! You won't regret it.![]()
OK, so I finally watched the video - I guess we actually are running on the race track!I hope we're as close as possible to the flat surface or that banking will be murder!
I'm excited about the new course! I ran the second leg of Chip and Dale last year and that out and back on Osceola was brutal. I'm excited to see that they're breaking it up somewhat.
The only bad thing about running around the track is that everyone will want to be on the far inside...when we ran the Indy mini this year, the track was so crowded because everyone wants the inside. I ended up on the grass for a large portion because that was the only way to pass people! It was really cool to run around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway but let me tell you what....that was a LONG 2.5 miles!
Hold on there.... I'm planning on being soooo fast that I'll be using the banked section to zip past everyone.![]()
The out and back on Osceola isn't really gone. Just interrupted by the new stretch in WWoS.
I like the interruption, but also the trip down Osceola Parkway is now earlier in the race. Now starting at about mile 14 instead of 18.
OMG....it totally was. I just kept looking at the people passing me on their way back and wanting to kill them!![]()
Good to know, thanks! This will definitely make for some cool pictures!Oval and tri-oval race tracks have a flat transition area on the inside of the banked track.
I think you just convinced me to upgrade to the full.
Ok... now I want stop and get a margaritas as I head to the finish line. I might just have to. Although it will give my coach a new point to joke around with me about...
Most guests are pretty cool with the runners and I love when random strangers cheer us on too. That's the best!
You will do great! I had 3 Half's under my belt when I did my first full! Follow your training program as faithfully as you can and your efforts will guide you right through to the finish line. I actually felt better after running the full than I did after running the Wine and Dine Half. Good luck and congrats!I am nervous as well. This will be my first full marathon. I have four half-marathons under my belt, but wanted to stretch myself a bit. SO, I have registered for the GOOFY Challenge!
