Congrats on a great race. I did the Freep Marathon in 2010 an while I thought the bridge was great (other than the construction which was still going on), I found the tunnel to be tough. It seemed to go on forever!

Maura

Thanks! I both the bridge and the tunnel were tough for me but I would say the tunnel was more so because you can't see the end of it. The course was pretty crowded the whole way too. It didn't really open up until the last half mile and I was dodging people the whole way. Great training for running through the Magic Kingdom though!

I am not a tunnel person. I wanted to do the Tunnel to Towers Run this year and I'm happy it didn't fit my schedule :rolleyes1. I'm a little claustrophobic and when I saw the news footage of all the people running through the Battery Tunnel, I couldn't breathe. Maybe next year, if DH holds my hand and I run with my eyes closed.

You know about the tunnel in the WDW marathon course, right?

What were you dressed in?

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards. Please excuse the typos.

I was dressed in a wicking tank top with another wicking longsleeve running shirt over that which zips down if I wanted to be cooler. I had on a very light windbreaker with vents that I wore before the start for about the first half mile or so. Plus wicking running 3/4 tights. It was about 39 or 40° at the start and I don't think it got above 50 for the finish. Not a lot of bright sun that I recall for most of the race. I consider myself a slow runner who likes to be on the warm side. So I don't think I was overdressed. But I never felt like I developed that nice internal body temperature that one seems to maintain once they get properly warmed up. When I get that, it seems to keeps me warm, generally speaking, whether it's cold or even raining. But I just felt a chill the entire race. I wonder too if that tank top has lost its wicking properties and just held in a little bit too much perspiration. I think I will skip wearing that tank top for the next race. If you have any suggestions for how to dress better I'll take them and give them a try in training. I'm trying to figure this out because we can have any weather for the full marathon in January!

what's everyone's during-the-week runs look like? This week I'm 3-6-3

I've got to do 8 this weekend. I've never done more than 6.2. I'm a lite freaked out. :)
I'm also worried about my tues/Thurs runs. I'd been doing good Mainly because my kids have had soccer practice on those nights at a great park with a 1mile loop. Practices are over, it's getting darker earlier...I've GOT to make a plan and stick to it. And I need a backup plan (treadmill).

This week, I am running 4-6-4 with a 6-miler on Saturday since I have a Half next week on Nov 3rd.

This week I'm taking it easy after my half yesterday. Usually I do 4 or 5, 6, and 3

My mid-week runs went up to 4, 7, and 4 this week (was 3-6-3) and this week's long run is 14 miles. It will be a new record for me - longest I have done is 13.1.

Daily runner, so most days, 4-6 miles per day. Since I am training for the Goofy, I am working toward having 1 6-10 mile day, followed by a 12-20 mile day. Tomorrow should be 7 or 8, and then Wed should be 14 or 16.

We have the Midwest Spartan Super this Saturday (8-10 mile obstacle course), so I am doing 6, 8, 6 with an extra rest day this week!

That's the same wether I had for the RnR 10k. Target had a great l/s, wicking, compression top from Champion that was great. It's cold gear and it feels soft and slightly fleecy on the inside. It was great and kept me so warm. Did you do a warm up run before the race?sometimes a 1/2 mile jog helps. I don't think I'll need a cold gear shirt in FL but I definitely might use a l/s. .

Today I have 4 miles plus strides, Thursday it's tempo (1.5 miles fast with 2:00 slow 3X) and then Saturday 4 and Sunday 13.

For those who use wicking materials, remember that a lot of them will lose efficiency if you use a liquid fabric softener when washing them.

That's good to know
Thanks for the information

This week's runs are 4-6-4 (Tu-W-Th) and then 11 miles on Sunday.

I'm training toward the Philadelphia Half Marathon as my next race.
