Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

Either the tape will help or it won't. You can always take it off if it's bothering you in anyway. Did the PT look at what your foot is doing while running? The knee just connects the foot and the hip. Usually a compensation for something happening above or below. A weak hip or flat foot will cause knee pain. Just something else to consider. Be sure to ask for the tape, the owner probably will not remember. Do not be afraid to remind him.

Agree

I know you're not supposed to run with anything new, but since the weather is getting warmer and warmer, I may just buy a sparkle skirt at the expo and then have my legs taped. My CW-X Revolution tights aren't as thick as the Performx so I'm still unsure as to what I'll do. I have some old, ripped up hoodies and I'll throw one in my bag and wear it then ditch it at the start if needed.

You may want to have another plan. Sparkle Skirts will not be at the Expo :( But since she is somewhat local, Leah made the offer on Facebook to bring your skirt to your Disney resort if you order NOW.

Looks like WISH will be well represented at the special RunDisney meet. Two other people on the boards that I know of got in.

Just wish RunDisney would find a better way than first come first served to do this. It filled in <15 minutes. Not really fair to those who can't sit on their computer waiting for the signup to happen. (And I don't mean me. Other than seeing Joan Benoit Samuelson, I don't need to put any more miles on my legs before the races!)

I agree, I know a few folks who have been able to grab this slot multiple times. Not flaming them as if I were better connected I would be there also.

Grumble grumble.

For those that got into the meetup, what tips can you give? I'm not going for marathon weekend but I was watching the blog and twitter just to get an understanding of how it works. I was stalking both at the right time and still missed it. When I updated the blog page it completely skipped that post for some reason. So what did you do, see on twitter that sign up was open or update the blog page until you saw the post?

I had open two tabs - one twitter and one Disney blog. I also had open a blank e-mail ready to go.

What I noticed this time is that the post showed up under the runDisney tag page first, before the main blog page. When the website started crashing around 12:15, I had this open instead of the main page and I saw it there.

If you look in the archives, you can see what type of information they ask for and the requirements, so that should help you prepare too!

Hopefully that helps! :)

I know it's not the same, but Team Sparkle will be there if you are looking for something similar.

Team sparkle doesn't have a short underneath. Runningskirts does though and they will be there.

Well, I'm calling the taper "done". Did 6 miles on the mill today in the 72° basement with high humidity and no fan and a 1.5° elevation. Felt quite good despite a horrible night of sleep and crappy eating yesterday. The Greeks in SE could use trigonometry to tell you my elevation change, but I'm not in the mood right now (but SOHCAHTOA is the key).

I can now say I leave this week, and I'll see y'all at the expo before we know it!

just did a 10k in central park. it was 30 degrees. and even still i was sweating like an oinker by the end.

26.2 in 70 or more degree weather? :crazy2:

starting to think i should wear a tank top to run rather than short sleeved shirt.

Finished my last longish run this morning! As I was running 7 miles in 17 degree weather, all I could think about was how great it will be to run in shorts and a tank top next week! Glad I get to leave my mittens and wool socks at home!:)

I just did my.last long run in my Running Skirt and I would NOT recommend it for the marathon. Shorts rode up and I went to chafing city. And it was only a 7 mile run.

Guess I'm sticking with my tights. I have to get something to o over them. I've had DH point out that the Revolution tights are a little sheer in the back.

Yeah, I only wear their running skirts with the bloomers. Much more comfy!

What do you use when you run in the summer? You don't have any shorts or capris you can wear?

The Team Sparkle skirts are designed for that...they are sort of like an overlay that can go over your tights.

Ran 4.5 in the rain and 42F. Woohoo!. I think I will run another in the AM just to make sure I have the kinks out... and to make sure my half mary shoe strings are not out of whack....

Ran with the GoPro will see how a rainy run looks.:fish::fish:

Ran my final long run today--10 miles:woohoo:

After last weekend's 9 mile nightmare run, this one was awesome. Felt fresh until mile 8 but even the last 2 miles weren't unbearable.

Ready for some football and a nap!!
