Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

I called Disney this morning because I hadnt got my Mickey Mail yet. They said that they are having computer issues and that Online check in is not working. They were able to check me in over the phone.

I am getting so nervous. This is my first half. I dont feel as thou I trained near enough. My husband said I will finish if he has to carry me! I am going to attempt a run tommorow, but it is really cold and snowy here. I could use the tredmill, but really hate it. I can walk outside and enjoy it, but 30 minutes on the treadmill seems awful. This is going to be a long week! I am counting the days till we leave.:wizard:

My husband and I are doing the family fun 5K on Friday Jan 11 @ Epcot, but how do we know our bib number?

Thanks

PixieDust32 You need to go to the RunDisney web site, select Marathon weekend under events, go to the Runner info tab and go to the waivers sections. There will be a link to find your waiver, which will have your number on it.

Be advised, the system has been down. If all else fails, you will be able to look it up and print out at the expo

jumping in here, but remember reading the buses don't run from 5:30-7:30...is that true for the half as well as the full? (hopefully, not!)

Speaking of computer issues, has anyone been able to check in online? I have been trying for the past few days but keep getting an error message. Maybe it is because I am booked at BCV but am not DCV? I booked through Disney over the phone if that makes any difference.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

I was able to do it last night but the whole process took forever! I could not get the new system to link with my reservation number. I found a spot where you could go back to what looked like an old web page and do it there. I booked over the phone and not a DVC member either. Good luck!

Okay - perfect example of why you should pay attention to all previous comments because even if they don't apply to you when you read them, they might later......

Will monorail transportation be suspended from 5-7 like the busses will and will spectators still be allowed in Magic Kingdom before the park opens as in previous years?

My mom is now coming with us and will be able to watch my daughter so my wife is thinking of coming with us to the family reunion area in the morning, then taking the monorail to TTC, then to Magic Kingdom to watch me run through there. Then, she was planning on walking to Contemporary and catching a cab back to the Boardwalk. Will that work?

The monorails opporate like normal all throughout the morning.

Just looked at the marathon course and noticed no food stop until mile 12. Was that the way it was last year? It seems like a lot of food the last half of the race...

Thank you so much :thumbsup2 Hope it works :worship:

I rented points and checked in on-line a couple days ago. Did you try to use the link someone (Coach?) posted a few days ago...that link worked for me when the WDW page didn't.

www.mydisneyreservation.com

I just tried that page and it brings up my reservation and tells me to come back ten days before my arrival to check-in. :confused3
I am so not loving the new computer system!

Either the tape will help or it won't. You can always take it off if it's bothering you in anyway. Did the PT look at what your foot is doing while running? The knee just connects the foot and the hip. Usually a compensation for something happening above or below. A weak hip or flat foot will cause knee pain. Just something else to consider. Be sure to ask for the tape, the owner probably will not remember. Do not be afraid to remind him.

Nope..they haven't watched me run at all. And I'll try to be good about reminding him to tape me...I'm not very assertive though

I was able to do our online check in but we are DVC members and I used the DVC website. When I tried to do it through the regular Disney website it kept coming up with an error even though the reservation is linked there.

Today I did 10 miles on the treadmill in the basement at about 65ish degrees and very low humidity. I survived so I hope I'm ready for the half next week! Its really next week! Less than a week from now and it will be done!

I just have 2 runs left, a 4 miler on Monday and a 3 miler on Wednesday before we leave on Thursday. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to pack for this trip. It looked like the weather was going to be nice and warm but now its cooling off. I guess I'll be checking a larger bag to accomodate shorts and coats and everything in between.

I am coming down with a cold. I guess better now than Wednesday. Praying it clears up soon. I am downing green tea, vitamin c, and taking zicam religiously.

I commiserate with the PP about fundraising. We set a goal of $500 for Team Gleason for ALS patients -- on our own we wanted to fundraise and run for them -- but I am not very good at fundraising, I have discovered. Of donations I know about (don't know how many donations were made direct before we recently got a FirstGiving page, the link in my sig is direct to the charity), we have raised $101.20. I know that good can still be done with that, though!

Less than a week! I am working on our post race shirts on my embroidery machine. Which I better turn my focus back to before it eats my BFF's shirt! It ate my practice shirt and broke the needle. It's a bit Fatal Attraction---it will not be ignored!

Yes, the monorail runs continuously.

MK opens at 0530; Main Street only... they have pastries and coffee.

The largest issue here is hailing a cab back from Contemporary. The road south is shared by the race and will go slowly. I would hate to pay a fare in stop and go traffic. I would suggest riding the monorail to TTC and seeing if there is a cab there then walking to Poly so the concierge can hail. The path home from either of these does not depend on the the race clearing. The cabbie would need to go east from the TTC or Poly then south on Vista (past POR and OKW). Then west on Buena Vista.

In the alternative, she could just monorail back to Epcot and hail a cab or wait the few moments until busing resumes. If she needs a cab and one is not waiting in the parking lot, the cab number is 422-2222. Look at taxis waiting at the BW while there to see if that is stile the most common company in the lot.

Traditionally, the first food stop on the marathon course was around mile 14. I do believe there to be one extra station this year, but not really. The third station in previous years has been both clif products and bananas. They have split that this year.

go to the rundisney webpage. Hit the Runners Info tab. Once that opens, hit the Waiver tab; then the 5k link.
