Official WDW Marathon Weekend 2013 Thread-Part 2

Mainly a lurker here, but have been reading along alot more lately as the big weekend approaches.
So sorry to hear about your loss, Amanda. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My bib # is 53421 for the half. I think its the second to last corral. This is my first half, I pace about 10 mins mile for my long runs of 10-12 miles. Will I be able to comfortably get in front of the sweepers where I will have a chance to stop for a couple pictures? My dear sweet hubby signed me up as a Mother's Day gift last Year and submitted an estimated finish of 3:15, so I know I will have a bit of ducking and weaving to do and that's ok, I just wonder if I should plan to skip the first few character stops and build up a little cushion?

I have never run this half before but I think you will be ok. I run about a ten minute pace as well and asked about pictures earlier. I was trying to decide on beating some of my old times. From other posters it sounded like some pictures take maybe a minute. One person said they skip any line longer than 15 people. I am in corral C. Don't you just love those well meaning husbands; just kidding I think it was very cool of him even if he didn't know your time. My husband once told his friends when I first started running that he thought I ran a 6 minute mile :rotfl2: yea in a hurricane, going down hill!!!!!

For anyone who knows, can someone tell me the difference between "Team Sparkle" & "Sparkle Skirts"?

I can tell you the Sparkle Skirts have ginormous pockets on each leg (but you can't tell just looking at them) and the shorts underneath (if you get the sparkle tech ) do NOT ride or chaffe. They even guarantee it. Very comfy and many choices.

Fruto another thought; do you have a 10k time result you could bring? I think you can still replace a result at the expo. Am I right about that posters?

Team sparkle are slightly cheaper buy seem flimsier. Sparkle Skirts has more options. They have their sparkle lights which are more like team sparkle skirts...a sparkle skirt worn over your own shorts/tights. But sparkle skirts also have sparkle techs which has built in compression shorts with generous pockets. I love the two sparkle techs I have. The PP is right, the built in pockets area big, I don't need a belt at all. I can fit my phone and my 5 bags of beans.

:rotfl2: in a hurricane, down hill!!! Oh I love my hubby and know he meant well... He said " I put the maximum time. There's no pressure you have almost 3 and a half hours to finish, babe!":love:

I have been searching for a timed 10k since October...no luck. Oh well. I know I will have a great time :yay:

My walking PR is 2:11:12 for a half marathon and this year I started with the Balloon Ladies for the Half and Full. Maintaining your running pace will give you plenty of time for tons of pictures, so don't worry, be happy and have fun!

Team Sparkle: If you're just looking to dress shiny on race day.
Sparkle Skirt Sparkle tech: If you're a pack mule who needs everything. I have my own ode to the Sparkletech. It fits phones, keys, and wallets in the pockets.

your ode to the sparkletech has me *this* close to maybe putting on a skirt to run the princess 1/2. i have yet to be able to bring myself to put a skirt on to run but i have to admit these are cute.

I have to stop looking at the accuweather! The weather has gone back to terrible again. Rain, rain, rain. At what point is accuweather accurate?

I always run in a skirt and can't imagine not running in a skirt. I have several capri-skirts (skirt with attached capri compressions)as well. I have made several skirts for the princess and also made my minnie skirt.

This is the thing I like about a skirt...it has attached compression shorts. I love the compression, but without the covering on top I feel like I'm out in my underwear. I know many do this, but for me it just feels wrong.

Try it, you may just fall in love with it!

Accuweather is driving me crazy too! I'm seeing 80 degrees but only a 3% chance of rain on Sunday. As a slow runwalkrunner I don't like seeing those high temps! Hope the rain comes earlier than expected so those doing the half aren't impacted and hope a nice cold front miraculously appears.

Happy New Year everyone!

Chalk up another last minute farming failure. Mine (405cx) died 12 miles into a 14 mile run. Same issue as others - just not holding a charge anymore. Gonna try the reset but a 610 is on its way. Not gonna risk the marathon.

Happy New Year and best of luck everyone!!

For those camping AccuWeather...the current January 13 forecast is high of 79f and low of 59f. Mostly cloudy.

It's like that Sting song, "Heavy clouds and no rain."

Yes, they're cute, but extremely functional.

I bought one at the Tower of Terror expo and broke the cardinal rule of never wearing something new for the first time at a race. (I know, a huge no-no.) I wore it - LOVED it - it performs exactly as everyone has stated. It doesn't ride up - that was my biggest concern. It really doesn't. The pockets are incredibly roomy - and from this runner who tends to need to have everything with me - including *ahem* feminine items for certain times of the month. There is space for everything and it doesn't look or feel bulky. I put my Iphone which is in the Otterbox in the front pouch - easily.

As a 50 year old runner, I didn't look like out of my mind wearing something made for the younger crowd. I picked Everest...something that would go with a lot of running shirts. I don't have to wear a SPI belt when running with this skirt.

I want another one...actually the capris.

You won't regret it.

And...I don't work for them. Just a very happy customer.

I'm running the half on Saturday and it looks like rain:worried:

Ok - I'll take that. I want to wear my running skirt and would love to not wear leggings instead.

You would think that Garmin has a firmware bug. My new 610 arrived the week before Christmas. The old one all of a sudden started dumping battery life within a two week period

Just to get Accuweather's nomenclature correct, the low for Sunday morning is the low listed for Saturday. It's confusing, and in this case only a 2F delta.

59F is just a little warm for many runners. Happy for the predicted cloudiness

My bib# is 42732 for the 1/2.

Any other 1/2 marathoners staying at CBR?

Whatever the weather, it will be better than the 1 degree temp I ran in this morning! :)
