I would bet a MCFLURRY that the full times will equal the half wave times once the final instruction come out. With MK coming at mile 5 and not 10 this year, they have a little extra time to get the last runner through MK prior to opening

Could that be because of more goofy, and the goofy people having one bib instead of two?

I was wondering the same thing. If there are about 10k Goofy folks and you add that to the approximately 15k full folks, that's 25k on the course on Sunday. Seems like a lot to me. I think the princess had a little over 20k.

One would think but the numbers I quoted specifically excluded the 7500 Goofies last year and the 3000 relays.

Just got back from the doc. I have pes anserine bursitis and patellofemoral syndrome. I have an appointment on Monday with my podiatrist and hopefully can get a name for a second opinion on my knee. I was given a prescription for physical therapy..but I am skeptical of how much that will decrease the pain.

I was told I can keep running, but the pain is so severe I really can't.

Last night I was walking at my job and starting getting shooting pains in my left foot. I haven't run in a week so I have no idea what the problem could be, but I'm basically falling apart. :(

sorry to hear this

Okay... I knew I was going to have to visit the expo to get moved up from my corral assignment for the half, but I'm curious how far I can expect to go.

I signed up back in the spring on the day registrations opened... I'd been running for all of 10 weeks at the time and I had completed just one 5K race, so I didn't fill in ANY estimated finishing time... my bib number is 51987 (corral F).

I have run two halves this fall, including the Philly HM last month and can bring along proof of time for the half of 2:28 - does anyone know where that should get me moved to in the half start?

Thanks,

Ted

Woohoo! Corral D here!

D for the full! It's going to be awesome. If anyone else running alone wants someone to hang out with pre-race, I would appreciate it given I will need some diversion from my nerves and anxiety... I'll bring extra garbage bags!

I'll definitely hang out with you guys in D!!! DH is up in B so I'm sure I'll be a blubbery mess worrying that I won't make it, LOL.

Has anyone had pain in the bottom of the foot, towards the center? I think I was overcompensating for the knee injury and all of a sudden since yesterday I have shooting pain in the bottom of my foot whenever I walk. I really don't know a lot about plantar fasciitis, but in any diagrams I look at, my pain isn't where it would be if it was that.

Going to a doctor on Monday, but was hoping for some things to ease the mind!

If I end up running it, I'll be in D with you guys!

I get that some times. Ice Ice Ice- four days or so and gone. I think your right - I seem to get it if I go overboard and ignore knee or hip pain.

bib list updated

Thanks for doing this!!

Thanks for the thanks! I figured I'd do it this year...then I'll pass the torch to someone else for the 2014 marathon weekend. :thumbsup2

I was diagnosed with Runner's Knee in 2009...I remember stairs were a killer. My doctor recommended some $25 orthotics which solved the problem for me (I have flat-ish feet). I have since been able to ditch them thanks to following a strength training program. :) So if you actually do have Runner's Knee your bro's gf is on the right track.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thank you!

Do the PT work that you learned of. Your long distance diagnosis is more than likely what will be found Friday. Ask about a brace /sleeve that you can run in while at the doc. They may script one or they may send you off on your own. I am not a fan of runners running long term in a brace but this close to the A race it make perfect sense.

From this point, your miles will be about the mental side of the game as much as anything. Make your 9 a 9-10 and try for the 10; fail to the 9. That will leave you with a 5k on race day. A simple little 3 mile run with 1 mile of that in Epcot. Many plans stop off at the 9-10 mile range. Though sub optimal, a set of 6-7 mile runs will get your through the half in fine fashion, if that helps with the nerves.

Note that the PF syndrome is mostly inflammation and little or no damage. It is more of a nuisance especially when it comes to stairs. But you do need to have an hands on look to rule out other issues. He will more than likely ask that you not run the 5k and offer you a strong NSAID. This close to the race, an option is a cortisone injection. It will take a week or so to really wipe out the inflammation. However, since it is an injection, you need to want and ask for it as most docs assume you do not in the first visit.

Hang in there. We are almost at the race. You have more than enough miles to finish.

I went to the doc today. He moved my knee some and said 90% sure its ITBS. And when I asked about the majority of the pain when I bend at the front of the knee, he just said that its added pain from the ITBS :confused3

He said that he had 2 reccomendations. 1--get a MRI to rule out anything wrong, 2--do 3 weeks of PT for 2 times a week and he's pretty sure it'll go away and if not, then do a MRI. I opted for option 2. I hope that's the right choice.

I asked about running the 5k tomorrow and he said that if it's ITBS, I'm not going to hurt anything by running, I'm just not helping myself. So it's okay to run, but I might be in pain...although he said I can push through it if Iwant. But then he'd advise me not to run for the 3 weeks of PT, only doing cycling or swimming. And I doubt I'll get an appt for PT right away being the holidays so it could mean no running up until the half!! :scared: I also asked about running in a knee brace and he said if anything, just a sleeve with a hole for the knee but he said that it could either help me or hurt me. Since there's a chance of it not helping, I decided not to get one for the race tomorrow. I'll see how I feel during the race. It's been quite a while since I've been scared to run 3 miles!!!

I've done that--I hurt/pulled/strained/did something to my left calf and then compensated for it by running strangely and that threw out my right hip. Once the calf stopped hurting the hip stopped immediately.
And ice. I have a constantly rotating line up of ice packs now. :)
We're going to have an awesome time in D!

My friend and I both have a 1:13 10k time and estimated 2:45 for the half. She is 45523 and I am 45513 so we're in C!

I'm in D!! Do you Gallowalk? Maybe we can start together! I won't mind if you pull away from me...I'll be happy just to finish the Goofy no matter what time. (as long as I make it! )
Meet you there? :goodvibes
Either that, or I meet you in Epcot later that day.

Honey, with my injury I will be happy to gallo-wallow-whatever walk!!! I'm looking for a finish. I haven't been able to do more than 3 miles with 30 second runs/1-2 min walks in between for four weeks :( I will slow you down for sure but would love to at least try to keep upmwith you!!! Xoxo

Me too! I'll be in D while DH will be in B. Doubt he will come back to D with me so I'll be lonely there waiting.
