I guess I am not really tapering at all. I have 5 this Sat, 13 next, then 5, then the race, probably a week off, 5, 13, 5, Princess. Then I am pretty much done until the fall.
No taper here, either... I have another half on Feb. 12th

How was your spin class? I've always wanted to try, but we don't have one at my gym.
I did 10 on saturday and it didn't go well either...and I knew it after only about a half mile. It just wasn't going to be my day, and man is that a terrible feeling to know the next 9.5 are going to be a struggle every step of the way. But since I had soooooo much time to think during that run, I decided that it was one of the runs that I could be most proud of. Because how easy would it have been to just turn around after that half mile and give up, you know? I didn't...I fought through 10 miles, and you fought through 13...with no cheering crowds and no medal at the end!!! Not too many people have the mental strength to do that. I can say for sure that a year and a half ago I did NOT. I would have turned around in a heartbeat. For me it was one of those runs that I'll keep in the back of my mind all the time because there's no guarantee that race day won't be one of "those" days and I'll need to remember a run like the one this weekend to get through it!
I still haven't heard back about my shirt design from the lady that makes the iron-ons...grrrr. But I'll give it a few more days since it was a holidayMy Team Sparkle skirt should be here in the next day or two, and then all I'll really need to do is find some cute, cheap socks to cut up and I'll be all set.
I wonder when they are going to let us download waivers???
This is what I am doing too. I found some really cute knee highs at Target for $2.50. Unfortunately I have to go buy another pair because I decided I had to hem up the thumb holes and my sewing machine ate itSo now I guess they will cost me $5, but that is still way cheaper then the $30+ they charge for running ones.
I did my 13 on Sat and it didn't go as well as I had hoped. It was still 10 minutes faster then my Princess time, but 35 minutes longer then my 11 mile time. I am just chalking it up to a bad run and moving on. I am doing another 13 in 2 weeks and then I will taper for the race
I got my shirt ready for the run and on Sat I am going to order the supplies for my skirt. I really need to get a move on because time is ticking away.
Did 10 miles this week-end at 16:10 pace. Doing a lot of hill work. Hope it pays off like Galloway says it will. Sore shins, so have been using my roller and icing them. Hope it's just a sign of old age and not shin splints! On Thursday, the weather looks good, so I hope to get in 11 miles. Hope everyone had a happy new year!
I posted the other day but it is not here! ...
I am a little late joining in but this will be my 1st race in 14 years! My 17 year old daughter is also running it and I know she will do great she is an elite soccer player but it is me I am worried about.
I haven't been training like I wanted to, started a new job and you know how that goes... So I am at a 15.31 min. mile with a walk 3 run 1 and I hope to be doing a 2/2 ratio by race day but we will see.
I have been so stressed about being swept and I have finally come to the realization is, it is what it is, I will do my best and see what happens!
I feel I am in OK shape but I have yet to do a long run... (I know, I know should have already done that) but again I am not expecting any miracles and we will just go with the flow..![]()
Good luck to all of you training and running the Tinkerbell Half!! I really, really wish I could run it but at the time people were registering I didn't have the confidence I could do it. Now, I do but it is too late and I can't find a bib! Anyways, good luck to you all and maybe next year for me.![]()

No tapering for me at this point either.
I run 11 this weekend, then a 15K race, then 12 miles.
So I don't taper until the week of the race.
But I'm used to it. I've been following this plan for the 5 half marathons that I did in 2011 (two of which were Disney).
I'm very excited that we are so close to the Tinkerbell!
Can't wait to see everyone in person!
Now.........when do we get our bib numbers????![]()
The spin class was amazing! We did 22 miles. I am just flabbergasted that we did that much! It didn't seem as hard as running (duh, its a bike, I know) but running just seems like an all out effort most of the time for me and the bike felt a little more "doable". Running is my first love, but I do like that bike, too!
I(Yes, I immediately put it on and wore it (ok, twirled!) around the house for awhile...they are SO fun!) The icing on the excited-cake would be a link to those waivers!![]()
I saw on the run facebook page some girl posted her bib number. She said she had connections, so fingers crossed.
Okay, I figured out the link for the Tinkerbell waivers. Here you go.
I'll post my numbers to the other thread.
Amie! Sorry the poof fairy got your earlier post.
If you can hit 15.31 pace with what you have now I don't think that you need to worry about the sweeper.
I was swept at the Princess in 2011 a bit past mile 8 and I would be happy to share my experience with you. It was a disappointment but not the worst thing that ever happened to me -- not even in the top ten.
It's good that we are all chattering away here because as the race gets closer and the mileage goes down those pre-race jitters are going to show up.![]()
I hope so, too, Lisa!![]()
I completely agree with Lisah0711 - keep up the good work and you have nothing to be worried about!!
For our little Kids Race participant--I picked up a Champion shirt and zip up jacket at Target for him. It really doesn't make him run faster--but mind over matter will help you get to the finish line.

Awesome job on the run! Keep it up!!! I'm having long run procrastination issues! Maybe Saturday. If not then, defninitely Sunday. Maybe I can just bust it out on Friday. Can you see the problem with my planning? lol
I most of my running clothes are Champion from Target!! Now I just need to convience myself that they make me go faster
LoL I have some close friends who bike, it is very popular here. Whenever my sister and I are running we call the bikers who go by cheaters; I mean after all they get to sit down the whole time, and they can coast. There is no coasting in running
LoL Good luck figuring it out and getting it in! I have my running days pretty much set; I run with my sister and we have 6 kids between us so it takes a bit of planning to make it happen. We run Tues, Thur, and Sat, with Sat being the long runs. BIL is off Thur and Sat and we just go after he gets home on Tues.
Summer what a great bib # you are sure moving up!! Mine is 3315, as I said on the bib thread I was excited to see my sister and I had back to back numbers until I realized hers was lower then mine even though my 10K was 2 minutes faster then hers. Now I am anxious to see what my Princess number will be.
Where is the bib thread?
You know I still don't see the link to the waivers posted on the run website which is weird? I got mine through the link that was posted here, but I wonder why I'm not seeing it on the website yet?![]()
