Official thread to keep track of GTY cabins ASSIGNED

That's funny because I did the same. I couldn't get a verandah that sleeps 4 so they were able to get me a 7a and an inside room directly across the hall. It only cost me 500.00 more and now we have 2 rooms. I may ask about upgrades when we get port. I would still like to have a verandah that sleeps 4 if the cost is minimal. I'm not entirely comfortable with my kids on their own. They're are 10 and 11 so we may have to sleep 1 adult and 1 kid in each room. Despite the sleeping arrangements I know I'm going to be much happier on deck 6 with a verandah then I would have been down on deck 2. I asked about doing this a week ago and was told it wasn't possible to get rooms together. I guess I lucked out yesterday and got the right cm.

Hey - that's good news.
I don't think I could leave mine in their own room. I'd probably have to rearrange that. But who knows.

I think I could. It's my dh that's concerned. I love cruising because I get a vacation from my kids. Thank you Edge and Oceaneers lab.:worship: I don't have to tell you. You know how it is when you homeschool.

Ya' know... I don't feel like I need a break from the kids but I think that's because with so many they always get busy with each other and I get breaks during the day.
BUT I do need a break from cooking and being cooped up in my own four walls which is why I think DCL has become my new best thing EVER.
I'd be afraid to leave mine, I think, because they'd have too much fun. When they broke the bunk bed or something and post-cruise damage charges showed up on my Disney Visa! LOL.

Sounds like a great arrangement. I don't know your kids but hopefully everything will be fine. I would just set some ground rules in advance and provided they follow them they can stay together in the inside cabin. If not, then split them up. Like most kids, they will probably love it because it will make them feel more grown up. I know I would have around 11 years old but of course all kids are different.

I'm very happy also with the 7A on Deck 6. I think the outside on Deck 2 would have been ok, but this will be so much better. I do wonder though what the 9C GTY cabin assignment would have been? Hopefully not an upgrade to 7A but I doubt it. From what I can tell reading this thread upgrades like that (from outside to balcony) are very few and far between.

I'm sailing on the maiden voyage of QUANTUM OF THE SEAS in November from Southampton England to NY. I'm Diamond status with Royal Caribbean and I booked an outside guarantee. They already upgraded me to a wonderful balcony cabin in a great location. Now that is what I call an upgrade and I don't think I've ever had one this far out! That is not typical Royal Caribbean policy I can tell you that, but I'm sure happy about it!

Wow! Now that's, errrr, not exactly pixie dust, but it's whatever the RCCL equivalent is and then some. Have a great trip!!!

Does it happen often that *GT rooms aren't available for 4 in a stateroom?

I'm banking everything on is getting an IGT or OGT next spring. But we need two staterooms each holding 4 bodies.

Thanks! Nothing is quite the same as DCL, but I have to admit I'm pretty stoked about QUANTUM OF THE SEAS and my upgrade! It's going to be pretty cool as well being the first to ever sleep in the cabin. Well at least the first paying passenger to sleep in the cabin! LOL They will probably have some industry and media events in the UK prior to the actual maiden voyage.

In the meantime the DISNEY MAGIC comes first, and I'm just as excited about trying out the re-imagined ship! Our first Disney cruise was on the WONDER and we were hooked. Since then we have been sailing on the newer and more amenity filled DISNEY DREAM and love the ship. It will be interesting going back to the smaller ship and of course she has been "re-imagined" so I'm excited about that. It's our first 7-day Disney cruise as well. All the rest have been 3, 4, or 5 days. Since we don't have kids the adult only areas are important to us, and one thing I remember being far superior on the WONDER is the adult only pool area. It was much larger and more spacious, and seemed to have far less through traffic compared to the DREAM. I'm also excited to try out the Navigator's Verandah. They look so cozy and cute, very private too!

No we have never had a problem. We are booked with an interline rate this time. Disney doesn't offer these on very many cruises. I was late jumping on the offer so the room choices are pretty limited at this point. I would book as soon as the GT rates are released.

We are booked on the Fantasy 10/11 Western. It is my first experience with a GTY (Category 5E) and now I'm so nervous about where we will land! It seems to be all over the place with the assignment times, locations, etc.
Now to forget all this and go back to being uninformed...

Just a few weeks ago, we upgrade to a GTY room of Cat 5E and it's our first time doing GTY. We decided we wanted a veranda and last year we had a 5E. so I wanted at least a 5E this time, but they wouldn't allow me to chose a room, only GTY was left. But, based on my research I don't think we'd get a bad room if it 5E or better. So, don't worry!

I'll report when we get our room assignment, we're on the Fantasy the week before you on Oct 4th.

#1. What category GTY cabin did you book? 7A GTY
#2. What category and room # did you get? 7A, but one of the secret verandahs with only a slight obstruction :goodvibes
#3. How many days before the cruise were you assigned your room? 57
#4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover"- undesirable room/location? Very happy! :) Apart from the secret verandah, happy about the fact that they put us only three doors down from the cabn we have on the first leg of our B2B, so we only have to move a short distance and will likely keep the same stateroom host.
#5. If you booked more than one room, are they connecting? Only booked the one room
#6 What ship are you sailing? Magic
#7. What day of the week was you cabin assigned? Friday
8. What time of day was your cabin assigned? Unsure. Definitely later than noon, though
9. What month is your cruise? September 20

One thing I would like to mention... I spoke with an CM today regarding my registration so I just asked when I might get my room assignment. Because it's just 2 of us in the room we will be assigned ours last. She said due to lifeboat restrictions placing 3+ is more difficult so they focus on them first. :worried:

Just thought I'd throw that out there for those who may be waiting with 2 or less people in your room.

That is interesting about 2 in a cabin. My daughter and I make a party of 2 and we have always gotten our gty assignment with the others on our cruise.

This trip I booked a 7A and had a room assignment. About 6 weeks ago I checked the price to upgrade through the DCL website/modify. It was only $126 to go to a 5E GTY so I did that. I got a huge wonderful aft/ port side 5E. I was very happy with the verandah but curious about the handicap accessible shower and not having the split bathroom. Yesterday I received an reservation confirmation email from DCL that I had been moved to a 4C midship on the 7th deck. Sweet room for just 2 of us and at a bargain price!

Wow! That is great. When is your cruise? She did say the nice thing about only being 2 in a cabin and "being able to place us almost anywhere" there is good chance to be upgraded to cabins that tend to book last which are 5's and 4As. Hope I get some pixie dust this Christmas!
