Official thread to keep track of GTY cabins ASSIGNED

Hopefully in the next week or two. First time booking GTY and the wait is killing me!

I saw on FB that Aug 21 Dream got room assignments this weekend. Probably 3 more weeks for mine.

I just upgraded from 9C to 7A which is GTY. The DCL rep said 14 days beforehand would be when we get the actual room assignment, is this average? Is there an average? I'm part of a FE group and it makes me nervous to have to wait to tell them.

WOOHOO

Interesting thread! What I gather from skimming through it is that the majority of GTY cabins are assigned approx 60-50 days prior to sailing, and that upgrades are few and far between. Most people seem to be getting assigned the category they booked in which is fine.

I'm waiting on a GTY myself, for a sailing on the MAGIC late September. I'm guessing I'll have an assignment the first week of August based on the responses on this thread.

Thanks everyone for the great info!

We are on the Magic 9/27. I'm a little nervous. All that was available with our discount at this time was a 9C. I have never sailed without out a verandah. I'm calling everyday trying to upgrade, but all that available in verandahs is rooms that sleep 3 or less. Keeping my fingers crossed for a decent room.

I'm on the same cruise, also in a 9C GTY. I'm not expecting anything but a 9C. I just hope the cabin assignment is not too far forward.

I've sailed many times in cabins without balconies. They are fine, and sometimes having a large window so close to the waterline can be pretty cool.

Some of those cabins in forward are larger than others.

I would be happy with a forward cabin. I don't want to be under night club.

On DISNEY MAGIC the nightclub is in the forward section although the piano bar and pub are even more forward, and no I would rather not be right under it. I also don't want to be directly under the main galley, but that is a possibility as well if I'm assigned something more midship-to-aft on the starboard side. GTY's are a crapshoot but choosing an actual cabin assignment wasn't a choice with this booking.

I couldn't hold out and wait for the GTY to be assigned so decided to upgrade myself to a 7A (Navigator's Verandah) and picked a cabin. I'm very happy with the location and hope I like the Navigator's Verandah. They look really cute with the nautical touches and small bench. My partner is actually afraid of heights so I think he will much prefer the more enclosed balcony. The waiting game is over for me at least.

That's funny because I did the same. I couldn't get a verandah that sleeps 4 so they were able to get me a 7a and an inside room directly across the hall. It only cost me 500.00 more and now we have 2 rooms. I may ask about upgrades when we get port. I would still like to have a verandah that sleeps 4 if the cost is minimal. I'm not entirely comfortable with my kids on their own. They're are 10 and 11 so we may have to sleep 1 adult and 1 kid in each room. Despite the sleeping arrangements I know I'm going to be much happier on deck 6 with a verandah then I would have been down on deck 2. I asked about doing this a week ago and was told it wasn't possible to get rooms together. I guess I lucked out yesterday and got the right cm.
