Thank you to the person who posted the princess email. I finally got through to someone at Disney Sports and they told me that since I registered through Active.com that they hadn't yet received all the info into their systems in order for me to be receiving the emails. Right now she said those who ran the Princess half last year or were already in their system would be the only ones receiving them. Supposedly, the rest of us should start receiving them soon.

Well, that's why I haven't been receiving them either. Thanks for posting that, gelharmom. I feel better knowing that.

I apologize if I may have mised this somewhere, but is there no post-race party this year? The one at Hollywood Studios last year was great! But, I see no mention of it this year (even though it was in the brochure). This will greatly affect my travel plans, so I was wondering if anyone has heard anything?

I have sent several emails to Disney Endurance Sports, and left them a message, but have gotten no replies.

I'm wondering the same thing. We enjoyed the party at DHS last year although mostly because we could go on Toy Story Mania without a wait! We are going down early Friday and leaving Monday night and rying to decide what tickets to buy. A party might change our thinking at this point so I hope they decide soon. It seems like less than 8 weeks to go, they'd have to make a decision because park hours are posted...yes, I guess they can just change those on a dime but I'd think they'd want to sell tickets!

If anyone has the inside scoop, let us know.

During the party hours are the characters there for autographs, etc? I can convince the kids to take a big nap in the afternoon if it means that there will be characters with out as much of a wait...

Also, how much were the tickets last year?

If I rember correctly, the tickets were about $43 (for adults, we actually didn't have kids with us) and you could enter at 4pm like any other "special party" while the actual event went from 7-11 or maybe 8-12?? I just looked through my pictures and we weren't specifically looking for character pictures but got ones with Prince Charming, the step-sisters and step-mother and Goofy & Daisy duck in their "royal" outfits (very fun). I'm sure Mickey & Minnie were there too but I remember thinking that we didn't see any princesses which was really silly considering it was a Princess celebration.

One thing with the party...not everything is open and a lot of the park was literally dark. The treasure was mostly beads and these plastic jewels in "loot bags" marked "Pirate & Princess Party" - the advertising had promised chocolate but we didn't find any. Some of it felt like the party was an after-thought rather than well thought out. I saw on the Disney site that there are extra magic hours at MK the night of the race...it might be more worth it for everyone to take a long nap and head over to MK as it is much less crowded (just in my experience, I know not always) during EMH. But there may not be characters out. Just a thought.

sadly, i spoke with disney running yesterday and there is NO party scheduled and/or spa packages yet. the CM said that he is not sure even if there will be anything, they did not expect this years race to be as large as it has become - and they have to rework what was scheduled to see if they can "pull anything off" his words.

Fingers crossed he just did not have a clue !!!

I saw on the Disney site that there are extra magic hours at MK the night of the race...it might be more worth it for everyone to take a long nap and head over to MK as it is much less crowded (just in my experience, I know not always) during EMH. But there may not be characters out. Just a thought.

Thanks! We are not usually "hoppers" so we are planing on the EMH at MK if the party thing did not pan out. Just thought IF it did happen to be DHS again we could hit most of what we like there (not too much due to age of kids) and have another day at MK.

Just my imput on the party thing -- don't be too discouraged.. just head over to MK and do the EMH.. honestly, the "party" last year was a dud in my opinion.. yes, we went on TSM once.. but that wasn't worth the $$ if you ask me.. you can do the same thing by getting there (DHS) during an early morning EMH.

I am definately going over to MK that night.. with my bling on of course!!!


On a side note -- i am attempting the TM tonight, after 3 weeks off!!!! My toe finally feels somewhat better - to where i am not limping, and i feel like i want to try to at least walk a couple miles.. I hate that i lost the last 3 weeks, but i am confident i will be ok, and it was better to lose the last 3 weeks than if it were to happen the week before the race, right?!! So, wish me luck!

You really won't need to train on an incline because Florida is flat, flat, flat. Your only hills will be the on and off ramps. So happy you have an improvement!!! Sounds like you are doing great!!!

I've read that you should run on a treadmill at an incline even if the race you're running is flat because it simulates running outside with wind resistance better. A 1% treadmill grade most accurately reflects the energetic cost of outdoor running.

That's a shame. Thay have an opportunity to make this a very big deal, really make it a special event. They're probably going to wait a few years until it approaches the size of the others, entrant wise, then start making more of a big deal out of it. I'm disappointed.

i figure all of the folks that didn't want to brave the elements at the Half in Jan may all be joining us for this race...since the registration jumped after that weekend.

I bet that is true. I know someone who was scheduled to run the January race and she ended up sleeping in and going to the parks later in the day because it was sooo cold.

Last year they said 10,000 and then had to drop that number and closed it at around 7,000.

As for the after party, I did not go last year as I have been to their race after parties before and knew it wouldn't be very good.
A lot of people complained about the after party, so i'm not surprized that they are not holding one this year.

Most of the enterainment on the course was Disney's fur and face so I would not expect that to change.
I'm sure that the few local schools and bands that came will come again as it gives the the oppertunity to perform.

I konw that the medal has changed this year.......to a slipper shape.

Right, but if they don't start treating this race special NOW, then they will never grow it to a "big" race -- people will get tired of it being treated as second class so to speak, and not sign up anymore -- this is NOT the way Disney should be going about this -- i am surprised..

Seriously???? Have you seen a pic anywhere?? I would love to see it!! I am all for a slipper shaped one this year, it will be cool to have 2 different medals.. but, i hope there is "bling" on it somewhere -- like last years, i LOVED the rhinestone touch last year -- that was cool!


On a side note -- i was able to hop on and do 2 miles last night -- first mile i did a 2:1 ratio - then second mile i did a 1:1 ratio -- toe hurt a lil' when i got done, but felt ok doing it -- didn't want to push it though.. I will rest today, then mabye attempt 3 miles tomorrow - then rest Sat. and attempt 4 miles on Sunday.. Happy to get back on my TM though!!!

I haven't seen it, but I was told by someone who knows.
I think it is correct as when I was at the expo I mentioned it at the Disney race both I was asked how I knew as it had not be relesed let.

Hi everyone! I just signed up for this race. I hope I am doing ok in my training so far. I did 8 miles this morning and I no longer think about how there is no way I can run 13.1 miles. Now I think about how it might not be pretty, but I will be able to finish.
