Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

just did my last run of 2009 this evening...craziness. race day is going to be here before we all know it....starting to get excited!

Thanks ultramickeymouse for the info.

I didn't realize about the time change uggggg one less hour of sleep:scared1:

I have a 3 and 5 yr and dh all coming along my hopes of being in bed earlier are next to none.

I had booked hoop de doo the night before the race at 5pm but am thinking of canceling it and just having a night at the resort.

well thats great news ! I feel like you have just given me an hour ;)

Now could you also quicken up my pace per mile

I could cruise behind you and threaten to run you over if you slow down??????

I've bumped my Dh a few times when he has been cycling too slow in front of me.!!!!!

I officially registered one week ago. Just curious, does Disney mail you a packet or do you just pick everything up at the Expo?

Also, did anyone order any of the "official" shirts? Just curious about sizing? Do they run large, small, true to size, etc?

Happy running everyone!! :cheer2:

OK, I am officially registered, got in so I could have my name on my bib. Glad there were more choices for princesses. Whoo hoo I picked Ariel!

You must go to the expo and pick it up, and the shirts run SMALL!!!!!

Just seen its at 70% full......I will have to hand over some $$$$ soon.

Does anyone know if you stay at a host hotel, do they offer transportation for spectators to certain parts of the race (like the Magic Kingdom). The regular park buses wont be running early enough to get our spectators there before we run through the castle and are trying to figure the best way to get them to the MK to see us run. Thanks!

They only offer buses to the staging/finish area and expo for the weekend. I do believe that you must provide your own transportation to the spectator areas.

I'm ready for my second Princess Half Marathon and 4th half marathon overall!

Thanks Disney Dudet! One more question...do spectators need to use a park ticket to get into the Magic Kingdom to watch?? Thanks

So glad to have found this thread! I am running the 1/2 as my first half ever! Actually my first road race ever (scary I know!) But I am confident despite my lack of experience. I've been training (Hal Higdon's Novice 1/2) since mid October and things are going pretty good. I am in no way a runner, and NEVER thought I would be, but I am really enjoying it! I'm still in a Walk/Run pattern (doing about 14:20 mile) and I am OK with that. Considering when I started 2 months ago I was at more than 16 min mile!
I'm working out 6 days a week (running 3 days) and though I get frustrated that I can't run longer without needing to take a break, I'm hopeful it will come with time.
This trip is so special because I am doing the race with 6 other friends, some experienced runners some not at all like me. We're making it a girls weeking and doing it in honor of another friend who is fighting cancer.

Good luck to you all and look forward to hearing more about your experience on our way to the finish line!

Nice to meet you, DonnaJean, and welcome! It sounds like you have a great Princess weekend planned! Keep up the great work!:cheer2:

Welcome DonnaJean!!! Congrats on your training! Keep it up...you never know where its gonna take you. I started running about 6 years ago and now am hooked and have completed 2 marathons and will begin training for the 3rd next month. I never thought I would be a runner, and to some extent still don't consider myself a runner...but I guess that is slowly fading away. There are 8 of us girls making the Princess 1/2 Marathon a girls weekend away too... All I can say is it better be warmer there than it is here right now!!! Anyways...keep up the training! You'll experience a sense of accomplishment like non other when you cross that finish line!!

Donna, this will be my first race ever, too! That makes me nervous, but I read on this board where someone said last year's race was her first race ever and it was spectacular. She suggested it was a perfect race for a newbie, so I'm excited about that.

I'm so jealous! I tried to get some friends, and even my mom, to come with me, but they all said no. So it'll just be me by my lonesome...:sad1:
