Good luck! Just finished my 10. Listen to your body and you'll do great. A long, hot shower felt great afterwards!

Great job Blake!!! :goodvibes

Good luck treehugmama!

This is an ice hockey weekend for me, a game last night, two today, and one tomorrow. I am taking Mon-Tues as rest days, and will resume intervals on Wed or so.

I can't believe we are only 2 weeks out!

I was looking around iTunes today for a few new songs and came across the mix, "Vancouver Winter Hits 2010" and thought it had some great remixes of old classics like We are the Champions, I Like to Movie it, Eye of the Tiger, We Will Rock You. Reminds me of music played at spin classes.

ETA: 40 songs for $9!!!

Thanks for the well wishes. I did 9 miles I could barely walk. I haven't had one blister while training.

I have 2 loony size blisters and a couple quarter size.

I got new orthotics and the podiatrist told me because they were the same script as last time no need to break them in...I said even on a 10 mile walk he said yes WRONG!!

So what do I do now to heal them up in a few days? I don't want to miss my short walks? Any suggestions?

Kat good luck at your games.

Hey, I would say rest until they heal. I KNOW that is tough. I have been out for a whole week, not even walking around my house even, because of peroneal tendonitis (my foot hurts really bad) and I'm devastated, but right now I would give anything for a healthy, able body. If I could be pain and injury free if I promised not to run for another week, I would do it! So that's just my opinion. Besides, if you run with blisters you tend to baby them and change how you place your foot down and you could really strain something and cause a much bigger problem! Hope you get better fast!! I bet if you rest for 2 or 3 days you will be all set to go again :)

So....when I made that decision to fly from No. California to participate in the Princess Half Marathon...(because I soooo want that Coast to Coast Medal!)...I was so excited that I didn't do my extra research and decided to use my DVC points to stay at the Bay Lake Towers and now I'm realizing that I'm going to have to book a cab to get to the race start!! I'm bummed!! I'm excited to be staying at Bay Lake, but bummed about the extra stress I've cause myself. Anyone else in the situation??? What to do

Does the monorail run that early in the morning? If so you could take the monorail to the TTC and catch the epcot monorail to the race.

I used to live in N. CA.

We stayed at the Contemporary last year. We went out early in the a.m. and there were a couple of other women walking out. We asked them if they were going to the race and they were. It took a couple of minutes to get someone to call us a cab because the valet was retrieving a car for a mom who was driving her daughter to the race. As soon as he got there, he called us a cab. It was there in just a few minutes. We all got in the cab and took it over to the Polynesian. Very simple. We even had time to get a little breakfast before we got on the bus to get to the race.

Meg

Thanks for the info. I actually called the Contemporary and the lady was very helpful but basically said I'd have to catch a taxi...but good to know that I can take a taxi to the Polynesian. One person I spoke with said the Monorail would not be operating that early in the a.m. ....but will be nice if it is! How early did you head out that morning?

Hi, ladies!

We are two weeks out from the big day! I am getting very excited. There is a big local marathon happening here in Jacksonville today (26.2 with Donna) and I'm waiting to see some TV coverage. It is helping me get in the spirit!

DH didn't have to work yesterday so we had a chance to talk about how we (HE) will handle the kids race morning. I am so excited to report that we worked out some of the details for race day and I'm feeling much better about the whole thing. I'm not worried about him taking care of them, of course, but rather dealing with a sleepy baby who is looking to nurse around 3:45am! We came up with a plan and he is on board so I'm feeling less stressed about that!

As far as music, I agree, some of the Vancouver Olympics music is great! Whenever I hear a song I like I google part of the lyrics so I can figure out what song it is.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!!!!

Here is my Ipod running playlist. I am an unapologetic dance music/80's music junkie so, fair warning. :) Music really motivates me and listening to music while running is extra enjoyable because I can listen to something other than the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme that is burned in my brain for a few minutes!!

Shake It/Metro Station
Shut Up and Drive/Rihanna
Fire Burning/Sean Kingston
Again/Kim Leoni
Sexy Chick/David Guetta
Telephone/Lady Gaga
Evacuate the Dance Floor/Cascada
When Love Takes Over/David Guetta
Boom Boom Pow/Black Eyed Peas
Infinity/Guru Josh Project
If Today Was Your Last Day/Nickleback
Down/Jay Sean
Poker Face/Lady Gaga
Angel on My Shoulder/Kascade
Forever/Chris Brown
Disturbia/Rihanna
Umbrella(remix)/Rihanna
I Gotta Feeling/Black Eyed Peas
Dirrty/Christina Aguilera
Hot N Cold/Katy Perry
TiK ToK/Ke$ha
Bad Romance/Lady Gaga
Today Was a Fairytale/Taylor Swift

I’ve also added some Olympics songs:

Ali In The Jungle/The Hours (the Nike commercial with the lyrics “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish")
Unstoppable/Rascal Flatts (Olympics Remix)
Intro/The XX (the Apolo Ono commercial where he is skating on the track like a needle on a record – a little slow and only 2 minutes long but as it builds up, I love it)

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!!!!

I have a few friends running in the half marathon portion this morning! I think they are televising the whole race.

Glad you worked out the kid stuff with hubby. It definitely helps not having to stress about that stuff on race morning!

I'm purchasing some of the Vancouver songs now and going to see if they inspire me on my goal run of 10 miles this afternoon. Hope everyone's last couple of weeks of training is going well!!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend too!!

I can finally see some improvement in my endurance. I am a walker, not a jogger and this blizzard has definitely put a damper on my training, like a lot of you.

Yesterday I tried really hard and did 7 miles of woggling in 90 minutes! I got a blister on a pinky toe that I meant to cover with a pad because I know that is going to happen with any mileage over 5.

Today, with blister covered, I decided to see how far I could walk only in 3 hours. Well, I did 10 miles in about 2 hours and 20 minutes. I was going to try to do 2 more miles, but my BIL and neice came with Girl Scout Cookie delivery, so that was the end of that. :thumbsup2

The odd pain that I got yesterday and today had nothing to do with my lower body or back; I got the same pain going through my left arm that I get when sitting at the computer or driving in a car too long. I tried to relax my arms a little and do a little stretching while walking. It's nothing sharp, just achy. I've gotten it through the years, just not usually when I'm walking. It's similar to the pain I get through my butt and leg when I sit too long, too.

Anyway, I was encouraged by my times and distance today. Previously, I have only done 8 miles about 2x, 9 miles 2x, and 6 miles several times. At about 6 or 7 miles, I start to get really achy and clothing discomforts start to set in. I'm hoping that I can get in a good one next Saturday - my last chance before the real thing!! ~Debbie

Logistically, our trip isn't working out for the weekend of the race. Instead, we are traveling down the weekend after.

I'm so disappointed I can't be there. I was trying to schedule a work trip for that weekend to Sarasota and figured I would just drive my rental car to Orlando. Didn't work out though. :sad1:

Will they allow anyone else to pick up the race packet for me at the expo? And would anyone volunteer to do that? Lol. I'll pay for postage to get it to me. Just PM me. Thanks!

That's awesome Debbie!!! :cheer2: Great distance and time! I felt my endurance was better today too. Maybe because the race is getting closer I'm just excited or something!!! It really feels good to accomplish 10 miles doesn't it!!!!!! :yay:

I did it, I ran/walk 11 miles today!!!!!!! :woohoo: I am so happy that I did it. I really feel like I can run/walk the 13.1 now!!!!! Around mile 3 I was wondering how I was going to make it but for some reason is actually got easier (except for the last couple miles, I was really getting fatigued). I used my SPIbelt and brought my Chomps. Love the Chomps, they worked great! I used them around mile 3 and then some GU around mile 8. Carried a small water bottle with me which didn't bother me at all, actually gave me something to play with and switch from hand to hand. The SPIbelt is awesome, I wore it more on my hips than around my waist and that worked great for me. I can't stand stuff on my waist. I just clipped my Ipod clip and Adidas Pacer on the belt and off I went. Just had to share because I'm so darn excited. I never, ever, ever, though I would do 11 miles walking or run/walking so I'm pretty darn proud of myself. Thanks to all the posts here and reading all your stories and encouragement I did it and I can't wait to share race day with you all!! Even if I don't meet you know I'm cheering you on!!!! Is there a colored ribbon we could all wear or something that we would notice? I don't have a WISH shirt or anything. Just an idea, would love to be able to give extra special cheers to my fellow DISer's!!!! Hope everyone had a good run this weekend!!!!!! Thanks for letting me share!!!!!:yay:

I'm so sorry you can't make it!!! I think I read that they will allow it with a signed letter and some other identification. Let me check and if you haven't received an offer to do so I can do it for you. Just lmk. Hugs
