Official thread for the 2010 Princess 1/2 Marathon & 5k- REGSITRATION IS OPEN!

I'm staying off-site and trying to figure out how long it will take to get to the Epcot parking lot from the WDW entrance. With the traffic and road closures what is the best time to plan on heading into WDW? I appreciate the help.

I'll be leaving AKV at 3:45am.:crazy2: :faint:

Does your bib number correspond to your corral? If so, at #11,560 I think I will be bringing up the rear for sure.

My bib number is 8400 and I think I remember putting down 3:00 so I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with corral placement otherwise I'd be a way higher number! lol :rotfl: This will be my first race where the bib numbers go that high!!!

Shawna - You won't sleep teh night before the race anyway. Try to sleep 2 nights before.

Well my playlist is pretty crazy, it has a little bit of everything. I change it every week or so depending on my mood and if I hear something new that gets me going, lol. Here's what's on there now but it will probably change before the race. I'm looking for some remixes of Disney songs done in a dance/techno mix, haven't found any yet.

My playlist is nuts.

I am really into Glee lately... love the cast versions of Bust A Move, My Life Would Suck Without You, Don't Stop Believin'.

I need more race-type songs, though.

:rotfl2: I think this getting there by 4:30am is going to kill me before I even start the race!!!!! Doesn't Disney know that princesses need their sleep!princess: I hope there is such a thing as sleep running a 1/2 marathon or I'm in trouble!!!:upsidedow

Sleep running - I like it!

Love love love the Glee soundtrack - both of them. I know I've gotten looks from other walkers/runners, and people peering out from their houses because I'm belting out the Wicked song or the faster Smile song.

Don't have my ipod with me, will have to check my playlist when I get home.

I need a little training advice...My training is off a week or two. My longest run was last week, 8 miles. Should I run 10 this weekend then 5 next week or run 8 then 5 next week? How important is running 10?

Hey Princesses! Haven't posted in awhile, but checking in quickly every so often!! Looks like everyone is doing great and ready for the race!! I can't believe its just about 2 weeks away! I am so excited!! Isnt it amazing what we are capable of when we put our mind and body to it!! I ran a glorious 10 miles this morning at a whopping 5 degrees outside so I am sooooo looking forward to running in a touch warmer climate and on ground that is not snow and ice covered!!! Quick question...I noticed a little bit on a pasta dinner Saturday night at POR. We are staying at POR...is this meal a Disney provided meal (dining plan?) or do we pay seperately. Is is available to anyone or only runners? Thanks so much! Enjoy the taper down for the next 2 weeks!!

BlakeNJ,
I would recommend trying to get to 10 miles before the race. Not to say you can't do it if 8 miles is your longest, but I think you will feel much more confident going into the race if you've completed a 10. If you're able, try to do the 10 mile sooner than later to give your body a chance to recup before race day. Good luck!!!

I would agree, though I am certainly no trainer.

I did 9 last week, and 11.5 this week, and will do 6 or less next week. Wogging (walk/run), though, not running...

Thanks for the advice. I am going to run 10 tomorrow. I thinks it's more mental. I agree that I will have more confidence if I know I only have 3 miles to add on! It took me about 3 days for my legs to feel good again after my 8 miler. Next weekend I will run 5 and begin my taper. Early to bed for me!

Hi, Blake! I am certainly no expert but I would say doing the 10 miler is a good thing, at least from a mental standpoint. Once I did my 10 I knew I could do 13 and it has been a huge confidence boost. Good luck!!

Thanks for all the great advice. I did 10 miles this am in 1:52. I feel very good about my time and how I felt afterwards. I am looking forward to tappering! 15 days from today we will all be wearing our medals!

i am headed out to do my 10 not. it has been 10 days since I walked as I was sick..I know I should start with a 5 than go to 10 later in the week but we leave in 12 days so i Am going to attemp 10 and see if i need to adjust.
