Hello....

My name is Kim and DH and I are fiscally irresponsible :wave2:

We get back more then $500 from the Federal Goverment and although we have not recently, we have been known to, gasp..., have a credit card balance. I'm not sure this fits the guidelines but we are planning on pulling out some of our equity to fund our adoption because we don't have $30,000 available.

I'll join. I'm finally almost done paying my debt, but I still don't really trust myself sooo....no credit cards for me!!! :teeth:

I'll eat toast and Ramen for a week so I can afford shoes I want, is that enough to let me in the club?? :teeth: (after bills are paid of course)

Good thing, because I know that if the feds didn't save it all for you...you would gamble it all away playing poker. :rotfl:

I maxed out 4 credit cards in college and grad school, and created over $45,000 in student loan debt...can I join? :) In the midst of all that, I was still trying to save money...but for at trip to WDW!

My poor DH is really financially wise, and then he married me with all my debt and NO savings, NO retirement, and NO credit rating. He's trying to teach me, but for the sake of marital happiness we keep separate bank accounts! We're going to transfer a couple of our regular household bills into my name to try and rebuild my credit rating. Hopefully I won't blow it this time...

I did get my student loans below $40,000 last year! :cool1: Just $39,000 to go...

Hi I am Jenn and I am fiscally irresponsible.
Thanks to lack of education regarding how credit cards work, I managed to rack up $20k worth of credit card debt starting at 18. DH racked up another $15k.
Most of it was paid off on my own. We took out a home equity loan to pay off the remainder and then charged up about $5000 this year because of unexpected cost overruns in redoing our yard and charging our trip.

That debt is expected to be paid off by April using *gasp* our tax return money plus money put aside in our budget :earseek: oh the horror!!
and you know what's even worse? DH has an "extra" paycheck this month that I neglected to budget. I'm not putting it all towards our debt! We're doing things like buying groceries, paying our gigantic gas bill, refilling about $250 worth of prescriptions, getting routine car maintenance, and even buying a piece of furniture!!!! :earseek:

I am fanatical about budgeting, though.

You are horrible!!! ;)

Just found this thread and even though I am a little late, I want to join in. I hang my head and admit that I do not think that it is a crisis if the credit cards are not paid in full every month. I also admit that I pay my phone bill every other month. I also (gasp gasp) have a car loan and a mortgage and we probably bought this house when we really couldn't afford it because we liked it and we wanted to move. I have charged tickets to WDW in the past.

Okay, I think that about covers it.

Oh, no it doesn't. We always get a tax refund and I like it because I would rather they take extra and then give it back to me than chance them not taking enough and me owing them money I do not have anymore. There.

Sign me up.

DH and I have 10K in credit card debt right now from home remodeling, and I have grad school loans as well. We'll get about 2-3K from the tax-free loan I gave the government this year :)

And what am I going to do about it all? Work overtime, and go visit my sister in CA this spring. I don't think the credit card debt is the worst thing ever, it will be payed off soon. And for giving the government a loan, they give me a check once a year to equal the balance. If I just kept it myself, it would get used up quickly. This way, we work hard to keep everything even all year, and whatever comes in the mail in the spring equals it all out. Doesn't work for everyone, but it sure does for us!

Jen

I'm in. I've got around $3K in debt on my credit cards and will admit I've carried a balance for two years. I also have abot $30K in student loans. And to top it off I gave Uncle Sam a $500 interest free loan this year for $500!!

But you know what? I have three jobs and I work HARD. I also go to school full time. At the end of the day, I am SATISFIED and HAPPY.

Admitting it is the first step.

Okay, here's one -- I'm getting my bonus next month. I plan on blowing the entire thing on a wildly fun wedding. THE ENTIRE THING. Not saving a cent.

Ok, I'm not fiscally irresponsible but this thread really gives me a laugh. You guys GO!!!!

These days, we usually end up paying a few hundred dollars to the IRS, but we used to get refunds. And we liked getting them! Does that count? Right now, I have a small balance on a credit card and I have actually gone to WDW when I did not have a zero balance on my credit card and did not have my house or cars paid off. Shame on me!

I was just going to say that! I thought only those without a shred of debt and impeccable finances were allowed to go to Disney! ;)

This thread caught my eye - what are these "budgets" of which you speak? And another term a poster used - "savings account?" I'd like to learn more about these - is it something anyone can do?

As for my tax return, I will use it to pay my property tax - doesn't everyone? Cuz I don't need it to take a vacation, I will put that on my AmEx card to get the points and then pay it off with my home equity line of credit.
