Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

when does the entertainment schedule come out so we will know more about Mark Hamill?

I'm wondering what time we should line up for the parade and fireworks. We are going on 6/7 for the afternoon/evening and then on 6/8 at RD and staying until after the parade. Our DS could care less about SWW stuff so we are kinda fitting in both the DHS rides and then as much Star Wars stuff as possible for DH & I. I have the dinner at H&V booked for Saturday at 8:20pm so we will be leaving in time to watch the fireworks I hope.

Long time lurker - newbie to the forum. Thank you SO much for this great thread, all the great tips and all the love of Star Wars.

We are going (1st time for SWW) May 14th - 18th. Ponied up the $250 (!) each for the hubby & I for the Rebel Rendezvous. Got to order preferred merchandise through the RR catalog. *Full disclosure - I am a CM working on West Coast so I received a nice discount on the merch - yay!

Booked 5/15 Sci Fi Diner Breakfast with the characters - will do full report on that.
Although we're geeks & nerds (and go to ComicCon,etc.) I personally don't want to wait hours in line for an autograph - it's cool enough to see the actors for me. I want to be able to do a lot more during our time there. But kudos to all those who have the patience to do so!

For the girl-talk about HerUniverse and other options - I've ordered everywhere. There are a lot of SW & geek T shirt places on the internet with great shirts, but I've found it harder to find shirts that are made & styled for women that have better sleeves, v or scoop neck - not just a smaller version of a men's shirt. Oddly enough, I've found some great ones in the Parks that are better quality, fit women & original prints. I always get a ton of compliments. That said, I've ordered a few things from HerUniverse & have one more tank coming. I agree you may want to size up a bit - still have a bit of a "Junior's cut". But some fun styles.

Thanks again to the community here - so lucky to have such a bunch of passionate, wonderful people.

^I'll be at the breakfast on the 15th too! Maybe we'll bump into each other, lol.

I was told 1 1/2 to 2 hours for the parade. I am hoping that 1 hour and 20 minutes will get us a good shady spot close to the stage since we have an ADR for Sci fi at 9:10. As for the parade we will not see it since we are going to Fantasmic. Hopefully some one else will answer that question for you.

What should I bring for my DS4 to trade with the Jawas at the breakfast? I've tried reading everything on the thread but haven't seen it. I'm sure I've missed it. Thanks for your help!

Can someone tell me how long Stars of the Saga is? Just wondering if my DH will make our ADR or not :lmao:

last year's show was at 3:30 pm

we were escorted into the theatre at 3:05 pm

Stormtrooper pre show started at 3:15pm

James Arnold Taylor began the show at 3:30pm

4:10 it wrapped up.

We emerged outside at 4:11 pm.

So the entire show including the preshow ran from 3:15 - 4:10.

Some where on Disney's website I read the preshow is 15 minutes. The show itself is 30. Give yourself an hour for show and some extra time to exit the building. Sometimes they open both exits and sometimes only one.

In the WDW page it says 1 hour but like poisonivy said it's more like 45 min. Unless they extended it this year

I'm not going this year, just wondering what time people start getting to the park for the Mall for the first day. Wondering if to be near the start of the line if you'd need to get there about 2 hours prior to park opening, or if people start getting there earlier

And it would be for the LE items or I'd just go later
For the first Friday people start lining up the night before (not kidding) this is why Disney created the Rebel Rendevouz event to try and get some of the merchandise people done by Thursday....we will see this year how long the line went.

What time do resort buses start running for SWW? 6:45am? Debating taking a taxi.
It's supposed to be around 6:30am, there's no set time. You can ask at your front desk the day before or you can just schedule a taxi (better, safer option)

Entertainment schedules come out a week and half before, so the map for that weekend will be available somewhere around May 28th, maybe. But I will ask all of my event friends that first weekend if they have more info on him and what he will be doing

1 and a half to 2 hours prior for a good shady spot (left side of Hollywood Blvd as you face the Hat stage). The fireworks, it depends, if you want a centered spot with the Hat trhen about an hour to an hour and a half on Hollywood Blvd. If you don't mind them being off center then anywhere around Echo Lake (we like by Prime Time) and you don't have to wait more than 20 min for that spot

Anything shiny, plastic rings, necklaces, glow sticks, trading cards of anything,....

I'm posting a daily reminder from now until this thread is closed

The Dis closes it's thread when they reach 250 pages, we are as of today, at this moment at 227.
As soon as we hit 250 I'm opening another thread
Official Star Wars Weekends Tips and Trick 2014 Part II
so if you come into this one and can't post anything it's because it was closed

I will be going to the Rebel Rendezvous event. I printed out my email confirmation and will have that with me. Is that all I need to show to get into the shopping area? Or do I need to stop somewhere to get a wristband like you do for the special event parties like MNSSHP?

I've not heard anything further on the event since they sent the emails out in April about the reserved merchandise. Thanks!

And a BIG THANK YOU for keeping up with this thread all these months, we appreciate you :grouphug:

I wondered if you wouldn't just want to close it this week and start the new thread and let us "light up" Part II when the first weekend madness ensues (and I'm just a planner that way :))

We are bringing our "wishing stars" and wand from CRT breakfast last Feb. My kids are too old to care about them and I recently put them in the Good Will Donation pile, but maybe a little girl down the trading line would like one.

Hopefully you can catch it before it closes and add the new link to follow.
That's tha plan

I'm not attending so not sure how it will work

I think I'll let it run it's course but will open the new thread and post the link before this one closes, and you're welcome, happy to help

No. The stormtroopers pre show is before Stars of the Saga

Our FP+ for Stars of the Saga is for 3:05....will arriving at that time mean that we're there for the preshow, or should we be arriving earlier. And is the preshow INSIDE the theatre or something that happens outside?

Thanks again for your patience in answering everyone's question and answering them so well! I can't imagine how lost I'd be arriving at SWW without all this new knowledge!

The pre show starts at 3:15pm and it's inside. I would be there by 3pm just to make sure you're inside by the time it starts
and you're welcome...

So what are the Jawas trading to you? Same sort of stuff?

I've gotten 501st cards, a fastpass for 3 people and beads
I would think they put the things they receive in one side of their pouch and inspect it (backstage) before trading it back...
