Official Star Wars Weekends 2014 Tips and Tricks

They haven't realesed times for shows or parade until a few days before the first weekend...this year might be different since they seem to be chanching some things.
I have access to the HUB (internal Cast Member site) and have been able to get the map a week before.

Wow!!! That makes it very very hard to plan your ADR's espically your lunch. Guess we are stuck until the parade time is released knowing whether or not we will have to cancel our 11:45 ADR at Sci Fi.

The parade has been at 11am for the past years, I don't think they'll change it because they used to have it later and it was just too hot. So an 11:45 ADR is fine

Looking at the wording for the Rebels Rendezvous event it looks like the merchandise will be moved to where it was years ago:
The Rendezvous Point is located on the Outer Rim near the known whereabouts of Bounty Hunters and an Imperial presence!

Meaning the building in between TSMM and Backlot Tour...they used this bldg before Darth Mall and it's smaller :confused3

i got to the sign up page but have some hesitations putting in my child's information on there. anyone do that yet? seems that even the 250 is needed for the infant??? crazy...

I have so many questions and haven't received sufficient answers to make a decision to register for the event.

That area is definitely smaller than the tent. Or at least it seemed so. I remember the winding line to get into the building.

I'd like to know what the maximum capacity of the event is? If it's more than the building can hold, then that means waiting to get in there.

Will the M&G for characters be in Darth's Mall too? or outdoors?

Looking at the merchandise catalog there really isn't anything that jumps out at me that I just HAVE to have.

I spoke to someone at Guest Services yesterday. Other than what was on the blog and merchandise website, they had no idea what the "and more" was and were unable to locate anyone who did know.

It would cost $750 for the 3 of us to go. That's $750 that could be spent buying other merchandise that isn't LE

I think as I type, I'm totally talking myself out of this.

I'm still on the fence, but leaning more towards a no-go than a go.

Wow, $250 for an infant?!

Isn 't there like an option to put if you have infants or kids? that's crazy if they're charging $250 for a baby

Happy to help :cool1::thumbsup2
I'm constantly updating the first post so that people don't have to read thru +50 pages to get the information. As of now the times for shows and parade are from last year, until we get new info. I really don't think they'll be changing the parade time

I know there's a chance I may regret it in the end because there's so many unknowns at the moment, but my friend and I have registered for Rebel Rendezvous. Either it will be great or it will be a bust. I'll be happy to report here when it's done.

The drop down menu gave you the chance to enter your age and it included child. I didn't check details though, I was in a rush to get in. The traffic was really heavy and I was just happy my connection stayed stable.

Please do as many here want love hearing the details. :)

If I could get 2 people in for that price and if we lived less than 4 hours away instead of 9, I would do it for my son. He loves SW and when he saw the messenger bag and other items you get, he about had a stroke, but I can't spend $500 and drive an 18 hour round trip to go to it. It really bothers me that Disney is going to all these ticketed events to do collector pins and merchandise. We ran into it last year when we were in town for the Friday 13th event in September. We looked all over HS for a special trading pin only to find out they had all been sold at a ticketed event held over at Epcot previously. He was heartbroken. Disney is getting away from the kids in favor of the adult collectors.:sad2:

Both my friend and I are kind of doing it for two guys who are huge Star Wars nuts and can't come themselves. We're already on a 10 hour flight away from home. So it's for their good with the merchandise and our special treat for the characters and whatever "and more" means. ;)

Did they tell you exactly where to go? There are rumors that the merchandise this year will be in the bldg. between TSMM and Backlot Tour and not in the tent behind RnRC

I finally got transferred to someone who seemed very knowledgeable about the event. Here is what I was told.

The building is air conditioned and everything happening is inside there. It's a small, intimate gathering, therefore the capacity of the building will not be exceeded. She said that Ashley Eckstein's M&G will work exactly as it has in the past and she will be signing the hang tags or actual Her Universe merchandise. I also asked about the characters and if there will be many. She told me there will be a very GOOD representation of characters. She said there will also be special surprises!

Did you register? sounds like a great opportunity to get those characters without the huge, hot lines
The description of the bldg does sound like the one between TSMM and BL...

We are going to SWW on May 31. We are at POP and are driving over to HS that day. If we leave about 6 and go to HS and get in line, what do you think the chances of getting in the 1st JTA show would be? Also, do they still let the kids in the first show march in the parade??

Nope, nothing at all during the registration process or in the confirmation e-mail.

If anything else fails the plan was print everything out and stick it under the nose of a CM at guest services asking for help. :rolleyes1

A "good selection of characters" and air condition for sure sound great to me. If we maybe get the Disney characters line out of the way (ideally with the Ewok line) then the money was not a total loss in my book, no matter what else happens.

What she had to say and how she said it, definitely made it more inviting to me than just merchandise and what was written on the blog.

DS9 insists he has to get the latex Jabba. However, last year we bought him the latex Salacious Crumb which was suppose to be SWW event only merchandise. But a few weeks ago there was a whole bunch of them on the shelf at WoD. Also the action sets he just had to have, we've also seen on the shelves. Though we did get them cheaper at Darth's Mall when they were reduced the last weekend. Now they were asking full price again at Tatooine Traders.

I'd be willing to bet the building back by TSMM and BL is the one that will be used.

You would most certainly be in the front of the line to go inside, it depends how fast you can get to the sign up area (Indy stage) go in and stay to your left so you can walk over there as soon as they let you...as far as I know kids get picked at random for the parade, never heard that the kids in the first show of JTA get picked for the parade but I haven't registered a kid for JTA in a very long time
