you learn something new everyday, and if that something is Star Wars related, double bonus.
I can't wait. We are working on a Darth Vader chic dress for my DD12. For the last couple of years she's used this one: http://www.studioscentral.com/column/studios-update/star-wars-weekends-2010-weekend-one
the last picture on that page.
This year, since she's 12, she wanted something more chic. So we're modifing the little black dress to resemble darth vader in a cute way.

That is an :cool1: awesome :cool1: costume your daughter is sporting, will be great to see what you come up with on the chic darth vader :thumbsup2

In addition speaking of learning something new... when I clicked on your link in addition to the picture of your daughter I saw pictures of the 501st and reminded me of this effort, the leader of this effort was/is a member of the 501st... Have seen this yet (click on link below)? It's way too kewl! :cool2:

That's awesome! :thumbsup2 . In my family of 4, 3 of us are SW fans, so we made my husband (the non-fan) watch the movies, he still doesn't get it...oh well :sad2: he works at DHS so he gets to see and feel the atmosphere of SWW. Maybe one day we can turn him to the Dark Side

I knew there were groups out there in SW gear such as the 501st, but truthfully hadn't really started looking into them until I learned about Chris and his http://fullscalefalcon.com/ project. Then I went nutz learning about Chris and the 501st.

I think the 501st is awesome! :thumbsup2 I normally tend to like good guys side, sorry :P but I love Mara Jade and Han Solo, so I guess I am not all good :lmao:

Are you marching all the weekends? We'll be there the 1st and 2nd :)

My boyfriend and all my sons are SW fans, thankfully, but I have some friends that still haven't seen the movies, and I have threatened to hog tie them and make them watch :P

Not too many people read the books and know who Mara Jade is!

I will be wearing my Mara Jade shirt at some point during SWW.

That's too funny, :lmao: cause I just ordered a Mara Jade shirt yesterday to wear during start wars weekends. I have been considering putting together a Mara Jade Costume for the SWW but I am afraid I'll be too hot... And her blue dance costume, well, Nope! LOL :lmao:

I tend to like her look that is close to Han Solo's the one with the back vest and white shirt under nether. BUT I do have things outlined for the traditional one she wears with the cowl, cloak, goggles and black suit. The hardest part I think is "her" lightsaber, holsters, and blaster. As you said not many people know who Mara Jade is and they don't make replicas of her stuff, so it would be a do it yourself project!

I too fell into the 501st by mere accident .. On the internet looking for something random .. And thought now that cool . And what they do and are all about is fantastic as well .. Never did i think it was something id do .. But after seeing them in action locally . And being invited to attend a local parade in a borrowed costume ... Needlessly to say i was hooked ;). And 5 years later the rest is history ;) ive been part of some amazing and heartbreaking things which none of would i trade ! And being 40 next year the next generation of troopers are certainly no slackers !!
So i get my star wars and my disney in a one stop shop while hanging out with my florida brethren of the legion - many fine folks ;)

And yes myself and 3 other central il troopers will be there for weekend 1 all 3 days of the stars and motor cars parade at DHS. My favorite park next to epcot ..

Havent seen starwars ?? My my ... Better get right on that ;p
Thats like not knowing who jesus is .. ( not meant in poor taste - just a well know person )

Mara jade is well known in the star wars circles ..
Especially in the legion

Many prop builders in the 501st and and on e- bay .. ( no ebay unless your doing a costume con style ). But if your looking for 501st entry style costume .. I can copy paste some links that could get you started .. ( odds are not in time for sww)
But as in costume. The start out fun . Then they get upgraded modified and parts get replaced -- and before you know it your walking out of tv or movie screen. ----

I will be a verry tall tie pilot this year --

Don't worry about 40... AGE IS JUST A NUBMER... You love SW and Disney, LIFE IS GOOD! And it sounds like you are really enjoying the 501 groups, which is totally awesome! I was only 8 but saw New Hope in the theaters when it first came out!

:thumbsup2 Oh too AWESOME that you'll be there weekend 1 as well! :thumbsup2

:cool1: On SWW we'll be hopping between DHS and EPCOT :cool1:

That was my plan, start out fun with things I can get/make relatively easy, I know they may not be exact but as you said I can upgrade. I have made my own costumes for cons before, GENCON in particular, so I understand the kind of work that can go into them!

I would however love to see those links you spoke of so when I start upgrading I have them.

Speaking of VERY tall, that tends to be half my problem too when buying costume items and why I started making my own stuff, I'm a 6'1" female... :lmao:

I'll be keeping my eye out for a very tall pilot :P

The Her Universe Mara Jade shirt?

I bought this one http://starwars.com/shop/lifestyle/mara_jade_nouveau_womens/index.html

I looked up yours and I don't think they are selling that one anymore... BUT it's very KEWL!

Nice shirt.

After giving it some thought, I think the shirt was an event exclusive for Celebration VI.

Her Universe has the cutest stuff. Thanks god my daughter is babysitting and she's been saving for that. We always spend way to much money at the SW Merch Tent

I know what you mean about the tent. We will miss not getting 20% off this year.

That's great that she's saving to buy her own merchandise.

I have several Her Universe shirts and hoodies. There are 2 more I have my eye on.

I noticed that Ashley Eckstein announced that she has an event exclusive LE of 300 shirt for her even this weekend. I hope she does something like that for SWW! But more than 300.

Where is this secret HH spot?

But if it's revealed it won't be a secret anymore.

I showed my boyfriend the shirt you have and he said that it was event exclusive as well... so you both must be on to something.

He also said he hates the fact that the Mara Jade shirts are only for women! :sad2:

Where is this secret HH spot?

:confused3 Ok not where BUT what is the HH spot? :confused3

Hyperspace Hoopla is the show they do at the end of the day at the Hat Stage. People grab a spot hours (yes, plural) before the show to get a decent spot. In past years even though you might be close to the stage alot of parents grab their kids and put them on their shoulders blocking peoples view.
There are 2 spots where you can enjoy the show without risk of this obstruction:
1.- There's a ledge right next to the sound booth (it's hard to explain where but when you get there you'll see the sound booth). If you're facing the stage it's on your right, there's a litthe pathway that leads you to the Brown Derby...You can grab a spot on that ledge, you need to be there early, sit down and when the show starts you can stand on the ledge and be above people's heads. It's a great spot...that is, if they don't change the rules, which they always do.
2.- You can easily enjoy HH in front of the American Idol Experience screen, they show it there and you can turn around and see the show on stage. I love watching HH live at least once, but after that, on other nights we just sit down on a bench in front of the screen and watch it from there. This spot tends to be a bit more relaxed and people that don;t grab a bench sit on the floor and don't obstruct your view.
