Does anyone remember if Disney excluded FoP from FP when it first opened as well? I thought I read that it did, but can't remember for how long. I remember being worried about it for our trip that year, especially after hearing how long the lines were, but by the time our trip came around (6 mo. after opening, I think) FP were made available. Hoping for something similar this time!
Also, how early do you think people should get to HS to line up before opening? We're staying onsite, and not until Dec., but it will still be crowded. Really hoping they offer an after hours event for HS that includes this.

FoP definitely had FP+ right from the beginning ... the item in question was about the single rider line as they had a queue for t but it wasn’t open and CMs didn’t know if/when it would (so maybe hat is what you are thinking of?)

Do you think that rider swap will still be available? My son won't be tall enough to ride this ride when we go :(

@rteetz I need your help and superior knowledge please :)

Have you heard anything about ROTR opening at the end of June at DL? As much as we wanted to be at the opening, my DH doesn’t want to go and ROTR only open a few weeks later. This was the attraction we were most looking forward too and don’t want any spoilers for.

Also, is it only ROTR that won’t be opening that first day? I’m also worried the cantina or other parts might not be open for example!

Thank you so much :)
It might. It might not. I think July/August is a safer bet.

FYI, if your son has the DAS, it will still work for a return time. I verified that with Guest Services today. They told me that they will tell you where to enter the ride when they give you a return time. The DAS isn't a fast pass, even though you go in that entrance. It's the same as standing in line, only virtually.

My son has had one in the past and we will try to do it again this time. He "looks" normal but he can't handle the sensory issues of people brushing up against him or touching him. He also gets overwhelmed when there is a lot going on. He is 15 and I had hoped by this trip not to use one and just stand in line but with what this is going to do to the crowd level, I'm not even going to try it.

That's great to know! We've only used DAS once so I thought it had to be tied to the FP+ system.

Interesting. I wonder if "initially" is just May 31 - June 23 at Disneyland? I would hope after that, MaxPass is available.
I certainly hope so. We are going to DL November 9th. I'm hoping it will be standard operating practices by then. I don't even get the free reservation thing? Is this like calling WDW as soon as it opens and waiting for hours to get through after hitting redial a million times?

Have we heard anything from the crowd experts out there about expectations for waits to get into SWGE, as well as ride wait times with no FP? I'm surprised to see so many folks posting about 3-4 hour waits as expectations - I'm going by what happened when Potterlands 1 and 2 opened and expecting lines of 8+ hours just to get into SWGE unless WDW comes up with some kind of system to manage it other than a queue! And that's the primary obstacle for me: I can't imagine standing in the Aug/Sept heat and sun for 8 hours straight. :scared::faint: I'm optimistically hoping it might be like Pandora and settle quickly into the 3ish hour wait realm - I still wouldn't want to do that in the heat, but would be willing once things cool off a bit.

I agree with the HP 8 plus hour waits happening for awhile. Disney would have to come up with a big program to work those crowds and wait times down.

I'm seriously not waiting that long to get in. If my husband wants to go with our oldest and my sister and brother in law then fine but I'm staying away with my little one if that's the case. Not worth it to me since we go to Disney almost yearly.
I'm just hoping this doesn't effect RnR or TS lines. My oldest can't wait to ride those and we were hoping for a low crowd week

Here’s my question....the land itself I’m sure has a max capacity as does the park. So similar to Pandora, you’ll have waits to get into the land once you get into the park. But I also realize that far more people are going to be lining up to enter GE than did for Pandora. So how will they manage those wanting to enter GE vs those wanting to enter HS (with no interest in going anywhere near GE)? Will GE have it’s own entrance? Because I can easily see HS hitting park capacity (at least early on) with the majority of those folks then queuing to enter GE. And I can’t imagine they want the rest of the park virtually empty? Then they aren’t making money on food, souvenirs, etc elsewhere. And if no separate entrance, I wonder if there will be “return windows” issued that will virtually hold your place in line for a period of time?

For those wondering about the second ride and why it won't open.......

"As for why Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance won’t open until later this year, Disney also provides an answer for that, stating, “We are pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology with these signature attractions and will not open an attraction until it exceeds our expectations”."

It will be interesting to see how they handle access to the land ... hopefully they have some sort of return time so that you don't have to wait 4+ hours just to get into the Land

I think the fact there won't be FP will keep the queue for the line somewhat in control and from the description of the queue from people that got into the land, it seems like a lot of it winds around shaded areas (partially enclosed) so I think that should help a bit too ... wont' be like a Disneyland switch back for 4 hours

The thing with return windows is that unless they find a way to get people to LEAVE GE, if it's still at capacity, they're useless.

noticed that too ... so to me does point to some technical difficulties - or maybe not flat out difficulties but just concerns that if they planned for an opening date for everything and were rushing this or might just run into some hiccups to get it working to their satisfaction then they either delay the opening of the land entirely or open the land without this ride anyway ... so this just gives them a bit more cushion rather than have to rush and stress about it

I am really worried/interested for how they handle that issue with the Cantina ... how do you "push people out" when you know people are going to want to chill in there and have a few drinks, etc.

I was a little relieved when the interviews with those who saw the cantina said it was pretty large. Obviously no matter how big you make it the demand will exceed the capacity.

That's exactly what I've been speculating - some kind of virtual queue and entrance allowed at X time. The next problem, to me, is then lines forming at stations to get that return time. That could be solved by putting it into MDE... but then I'd expect MDE to crash.

True, though this wasn't a problem with Pandora, which had a combination of a standby line of folks without FPs waiting to get into the land, and an entrance for folks with FPs to enter the land at the time of their FPs (essentially a return time, though tied to a ride time.) Once in with the FP, we could stay as long as we wanted, but folks did leave when they were ready to move on. SW could be different, but even PotterWorld had people entering and leaving throughout the day: not everyone who entered stayed there for hours upon hours.
