After 10 or so stays at POR and POFQ, finally going to stay at Shades of Green this coming January using the "Salute to Veterans" deal. Will miss the boat to DTD, but looking forward to trying something new.

That would be the Garden Gallery. Opinions vary about the dinner buffet, but the breakfast seems quite popular. Check out the allears link in post #1481 for the current offerings and prices. Some days are better than others.

We eat breakfast there most mornings. It's good, basic breakfast fare and pretty cheap.

Yes, I do recommend it. It is pretty good for the price. We did both breakfast and dinner and were very pleased.

I am interested if anyone has had this, as well. We are planning to eat at the buffet the last night we are there - and it happens to be "seafood night", I'm a little (lot) picky about my seafood - shrimp must be deveined and that sort of thing.... any reviews on their seafood?

We did that in January before the marathon since DD was running and protein was a good thing. We all liked it - great selection and the food was very good.

I did a search be came up with nothing. I am really confused about the Stars and Stripes Tickets. Do I have to use a ticket for consecutive days? Or can I take a day off. We like to take a day off from the parks, and hang out, go to other resorts, power shop at DDT; but the SOG website says the Stars and Strips Tickets expire 1 day plus the length of the ticket after first use. Any information on these tickets would be greatly appreciated.

It has been a very long time since we used the Stars and Stripes tickets. I do remember not going to the parks one day and we were still good.

If you are going to skip more than one day of parks, you may want to get the regular Magic Your Way ticket. Add in park hopping if you want and see how the numbers look. These tickets expire 14 days after your first days use.

If you are going to use water parks and some of those features of the Stars and Stripes, you may be better going that way.

We don't use the water parks so just adding park hopping takes care of us.

Someone else may have more info or opinions. Just don't let it freak you out.

When you purchase a Stars and Stripes Ticket, it does expire 1 day after first use, meaning if you buy a 7 day ticket..you have 8 days to use it. We found that when we bought a 8 day ticket, we used it to park hop, do disney quest twice and a water park one day. We used it six days which were not consecutive and spent 2 days away from WDW at Seaworld and Universal. When I compared cost the 8 day S&S, it was cheaper than a 6 day park hopper with waterpark and more option. If you are not going to use the Waterpark option, or park hop, it might be cheaper to buy regular WDW tickets. I hope that this helps.

If DH is deployed, can wife and kids go to SoG without him, with their i.d., and take along a grandparent?

As long as you have a valid military ID you can stay at SOG. You do not have to have your sponsor with you. And you may take guests along.

Notice skimming through this thread references to older section and newer section. Which are reasonable buildings to be in for garden view? Don't need to be near pool, bus stop, food places.

You need to be in the old section to have pool view.

Request the new section if you want to guarantee a golf course or garden view.
