hmm... with parking fees possibly in the mix now, can anyone remind me what the bus schedule/efficiency is like? I know it's in the behemoth thread somewhere, but anyone mind doing a quickie run down so I don't have to re-read all 90+ pages? :flower3: thanks!

Sure. Here is a quick rundown of the schedule from our April stay.

TTC-Bus leaves SOG every 20 minutes starting at 8:30 am
Bus leaves TTC every 20 minutes starting at 8:40 am

AK/BB- Bus leaves SOG on the half hour starting at 8:30 am
Bus leaves AK at 10 min till the hour starting at 9:50 am then stops at BB
Bus leaves BB on the hour starting at 10:00 am

HS- Bus leaves SOG on the half hour starting at 8:30 am
Bus leaves HS on the hour starting at 9:00 am

TL/DD- Bus leaves SOG on the half hour starting at 8:30 am
Bus leaves TL starting at 10 minutes till the hour starting at 9:50 AM then stops at DD
Bus leaves DD on the hour starting at 9:00 am

Now these schedules change depending on the time of year.
Also if you have an early breakfast ADR at any of the parks I suggest getting a cab or walking to Poly and catching their bus. One morning the driver for the HS bus could not be found and we ended up walking to Poly and got to HS over a half hour after EMH started. Some people grabbed taxis at Poly because they were gonna be late for their ADRs.

Seriously?!?! How rotten!!!!!! :headache: Man, that adds up!!!

Anyone been there recently - did you pay parking?

I was there last week. When we drove to Hollywood Studios (Saturday August 9th) I pulled up to the toll plaza and just pointed to the SOG hang-tag on my rear-view mirror...I was waved right through.

Lisa- thank you! That's just what I was looking for! :thumbsup2

MsMayor- good to know, we may chance it a few times!

my guess would be that SOG guests are now supposed to pay but maybe not all of the CMs at the entrances to the parking lots know it so you have some that charge and some that do not charge.:confused3

The confusing part is you get a different answer based on who you talk to.
THis was a response from July 8.

I just got off the phone with someone from the Executive offices at WDW and she said that SOG guests should not be paying to park at any of the parks. If you have paid to park and you still have the parking tickets then mail them in and they will issue a refund. She also said that if a CM does not allow you to park for free with your SOG placard or room key then write down the name of the CM and send it in as well. She apologized profusely and said that it was unacceptable that the guests of SOG were being charged to park at the parks and that they are going to be re-training the CM's to let them know that they are not to charge us. :woohoo:

So, who is the last word on if there is a charge? Someone in the WDW exec office or someone at SOG?:confused3

SOG thinks we have to pay for parking (we are getting APs this time, so it is a moot point for us, but i am curious), but WDW doesnt? I wonder if we can get that in writing or email somehow?

My email confirmation didn't say anything about parking in the parks, only that the resort parking is $5

Same here, I just got confirmation last week. Also, when we were there in May we parked at AK with no charge. We even tried to pay bc of what I read here (:coffee: it was very early, ok???) and they gave us our money back once they saw the SOG tag. Der.

I thought the parking issue was settled a couple of months ago. There's a post somewhere (I think on this thread) where someone got an answer directly from Disney that said SOG didn't have to pay for parking and that they needed to make sure all their parking attendants knew that. We always take SOG and Disney transportation so we've never run into the issue.

Check post #1445. It was just a month ago.

We were at SOG two weeks ago and drove to Epcot b/c our ressies were early, before the park opened. We did NOT have to pay to park at the parks. ;)

We used the bus exclusively when we where there and only had a problem once, during evening EMH as HS (then MGM). We just showed up a few minutes before the scheduled time. We made rope drop at MK, but usually just a couple minutes after by the time we made it to the gates at the other parks. Not enough that we worried.
We went during a quiet time, the buses were never really crowded. There was usually one waiting for us at the TTC when we got off the monorail as well.
Only DTD was the problem - they don't start until later. We ended up going to the Poly to catch their bus, and later that night found the SOG bus to go back.
I wouldn't mind using the bus service again, but my DH hated not being able to have his own car for a week. With the airline prices and the long lines and whatnot, for our next trip we may just drive. It is only supposed to be 13 hours.

I copied this from a post I made way back in this thread. It was from our trip in June.

I see there have been a lot of transportation questions for SOG. We just got back and I have the schedule with me.
AK/Blizzard Beach busleaves SOG on the half hour starting at 0830
leaves AK at 10 till the hour (space 7 - charter)
leaves BB on the hour from space #1
Studios bus
leaves SOG on the half hour starting at 0830
leaves Studios on the hour from Charter bus space 6
Typhoon/DtD bus
leaves SOG on the half hour starting at 0830
leaves Typhoon at 10 til the hour from Space #9
leaves DTD on the hour at the top of LotE by small red bldg.
TTC Bus
leaves SOG at 0830, 0850, 0910, 0930 ect. ect.
leaves TTC at 0840, 0900, 0920, 0940 ect. ect.

Extra morning hour bus leaves SOG at 0730 and Late closings the bus runs an hour later from the parks

Wild World of Sports take SOG bus to Studios and then take Disney bus
Fort Wilderness Resort SOG bus to TTC and then catch a boat from MK or Contemporary.
Fantasia Gardens take SOG bus to Studios and boat to Swan
Winter Summerland Golf take SOG bus to Blizzard Beach
Disneys Boardwalk take SOG bus to Studios and boat to boardwalk.
Sea World/Univeral Studios reserve spot of shuttle the day before. Cost $10A and $5C. Shuttle departs 8:15am and returns from Universal at 6:30pm and Sea World at 6:45pm. OR Mears Shuttle is available for $16/person.

There is also a Hertz Rental Car Desk located in the SOG lobby.

Just as a note the transportation to Studios and AK is not all that great. It only arrives once an hour to pick up and the place to catch this bus is way out in the charter bus area. We found it easier to take the SOG bus to the TTC and use Disney buses from there.

Anyone tried to use SOG reservations online? I've been trying to get some rates online (for days that are available according to the calendar) but every time I try to load the reservations page I get an error. Has this happened to anyone else, or is it something with my computer/internet?

I think the parking sitch is becoming a SOG Disney World Pay-For-Parking Urban Legend. I'm going to run it by snopes to see what the real deal is before we leave for our next trip ;).

I am having the same problem.

Use this chart http://www.shadesofgreen.org/roomrates.pdf to know your rate. Add an additional $15 for each extra adult.

Small change in topic, sorry. Does anyone have a link to the SOG resort map? I saw the one on Allears but that one is done prior to the renovation and doesn't include the new wing.
I'm trying to find actual room numbers for our location request when I make our reservations for next March.
In April we stayed in the new wing over looking the Magnolia golf course I believe. It was at the very end of the hall away from the elevators and parking garage. I know, quite a hike but sooo quiet. We really liked it and want that location again.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it! Thanks!

Go back to page 41, post 604. Someone posted the map that you are given at check-in.

Looks like some of the new rooms could have a parking garage view:confused3 Is this correct?
