Awesome:thumbsup2 Thanks for the update! Everyone going this year will have to keep us posted. I'm not going until December. How was your stay? What section were you in? Did you eat on the SOG grounds any? Sorry for all the questions:duck:

We had a great time. We were in rooms 110 and 111. They were in the old section by the Magnolia Pool. They had the one room, single sink baths and the beds were a little to soft for our taste. I think all the pool side rooms around the Magnolia Pool has the single sink bathrooms. We ate at the breakfast buffet which was very reasonable. I like making my own Belgian Waffles. They now have a Mickey waffle maker. We also ate at the Evergreens. We do not care for the buffets.

I was disappointed in the WDW restaurants this time. The only ones that we were pleased at were the Coral Reef, Kona, and Ohanas. The food at Whispering Canyon, Chef Mickeys, LTT, and Chrystle Palace were not up to our previous visits. It even seemed that Boma's selection of salads was not as extensive and has become more Americanized. Overall, we ate more meals offsite this trip. Better food and cheaper prices.

If you have any more questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Oh, the mosquitoes were very bad this year!!!

Just wanted to add that we were in 164 (a pool side room, but the Mill Pond pool), and we had 2 sinks in the bathroom. In fact the sink/vanity area was quite big. What we didn't like about the bathroom was that the part that had the toilet and bathtub, didn't have a real vent, it was just a small fan type thing that circulated the air. Didn't help much with the steam.

I'm so excited to read about your breakfast at SOG. We ate there the last morning of our stay and couldn't believe we didn't do it earlier in the trip. I purposely didn't make any BF ADRs for this upcoming trip because the thought of spending $50 for BF makes me want to faint:laughing: We were very pleased with the SOG BF and plan to eat there this trip. We will be eating at O'Hana for the first time and can't wait. The only other ADR we have is CM (my DS9 request). Thanks for the dining report....

:) We've actually cancelled our breakfast ADR for the Play and Dine @ Hollywood and vine to do breakfast at SOG. With the bus service being so unreliable, we didn't want to take the chance at missing our ADR. (plus it's way cheaper)

We've got a month and 6 days! WOO! We're more excited for the DH to come home though...he's been in Iraq for 11 months. (and yes, we didn't get the R&R deal b/c he was short a month! !)

We just got home on Mon from our SOG stay. We were in 254 with a view of the Mickey Pool! I was so excited I didn't even get a chance to call back and request it!

We ate at the bufftet 3 times and LOVED the waffels and everything else. We also had the breakfast sandwiches from the Express Cafe a few times and liked those also.

Overall we had a great time. We never had a late bus, but I wish they came to DHS and AK more than once an hour. That was a bit of a pain to plan ect...

I also wish the first bus was at 8 not 8:30 so you could get to the parks a bit earlier. The day we went to DHS we wanted to see the opening but since we took the SOG bus we were way back in teh crowd at rope drop vs the front. No biggie just a thought. We also ate at Capt Cooks in the Poly one morning and LOVED that also. It was handy to get the Shady Shuttle to the road then get to poly, eat then hop on the monorail for MK. We only did the the morning we had 3 little ones in princess dresses and we were hurrying to a BBB appt!

I have to take license and show this one picture before our appt

Over all it was a great trip!

the best part was as we were walking the empty street every CM that we walked past would bow and say, "good morning princess" the girls would just giggle and say hi. It was tooo CUTE!

i wanted to share the travel review I did from our trip in April. We finally got the computer fixed that was holding my pictures hostage!
I'm not my prettiest, but in my defense, I had a 102 fever! And I end with the veiw of Wishes from our 3rd floor balcony, overlooking the Magnolia Pool.

For those of you who have done Christmas at SOG, what was the dinner buffet like on Christmas day? Remember anything special or about how much it cost? I know different nights have different prices sometimes, so nothing would surprise me...okay, not much of anything would surprise me.

If anyone remembers some details, they would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Thx so much to everyone for all the recent reviews! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Yes, we are indeed fortunate to qualify to stay at such wonderful properties for such a great price.

Can't wait to enjoy the world with our sweet grands! :lovestruc

I see there have been a lot of transportation questions for SOG.
We just got back and I have the schedule with me.
AK/Blizzard Beach bus
leaves SOG on the half hour starting at 0830
leaves AK at 10 till the hour (space 7 - charter)
leaves BB on the hour from space #1
Studios bus
leaves SOG on the half hour starting at 0830
leaves Studios on the hour from Charter bus space 6
Typhoon/DtD bus
leaves SOG on the half hour starting at 0830
leaves Typhoon at 10 til the hour from Space #9
leaves DTD on the hour at the top of LotE by small red bldg.
TTC Bus
leaves SOG at 0830, 0850, 0910, 0930 ect. ect.
leaves TTC at 0840, 0900, 0920, 0940 ect. ect.

Extra morning hour bus leaves SOG at 0730 and Late closings the bus runs an hour later from the parks

Wild World of Sports take SOG bus to Studios and then take Disney bus
Fort Wilderness Resort SOG bus to TTC and then catch a boat from MK or Contemporary.
Fantasia Gardens take SOG bus to Studios and boat to Swan
Winter Summerland Golf take SOG bus to Blizzard Beach
Disneys Boardwalk take SOG bus to Studios and boat to boardwalk.
Sea World/Univeral Studios busreserve spot of shuttle the day before. Cost $10A and $5C. Shuttle departs 8:15am and returns from Universal at 6:30pm and Sea World at 6:45pm. OR Mears Shuttle is available for $16/person.

There is also a Hertz Rental Car Desk located in the SOG lobby.

Just as a note the transportation to Studios and AK is not all that great. It only arrives once an hour to pick up and the place to catch this bus is way out in the charter bus area. We found it easier to take the SOG bus to the TTC and use Disney buses from there.

Thx, appreciate all your valuable info, as it really helps those waiting to go. ::yes::

I agree with you. I made far less reservations this time because last time we were always rushing to make it there on time. It kinda took the magic out of things. Plus the cost at most of these restaurants has gotten outrageous for the kids. They don't eat enough to make it worth the money. So, this last time we stayed an extra 2 days and only went to a few TS meals. It was much more relaxing and laid back trip. Have a Great trip to Disney and SOG!!

Thx for the great tips and schedule! I agree sometimes you rush around so much keeping up - you miss the magic of it all. With group ADR’s and transporation, I need all the help I can get! ;)

Thx so much for your review! Good to hear SoG’s breakfast is worthy. Our rooms are near the pool, so am glad to hear your review. Disappointing to hear about WDW meals. We have several ADR’s for our family grand gathering, the most costly that I would perhaps question are: CRT’s lunch $800 and Spirit of Aloha $800 for dinner show for our group. Needless to say, we are indeed expecting lots of magic for this kind of $$$’s and will be disappointed after all the researching and waiting, if not up too par.

Thx for the review, specially about the busses. Your princess’ picture is priceless! We have 6 grands going to BBB so am very interested in any info. Ours will be followed by lunch at CRT. Curious to know if you rented a locker afterwards for the gowns or they wore them all day at the park?

We did get lockers. I bagged up clothes for the girls and the husbands brought them over when they came to the park and put them in the locker. then after Lunch at CRT we went to the lockers and changed out of the dresses. If it would have been cooler they would have wore them all day but it was about 93 that day and of course HUMID. Our BBB appt was a 9am then Lunch at 12 so that was perfect for them to enjoy being a Princess for a few hours.

Hi:) I see you are going this November and noticed you have a room by the pool. Have you already requested your room location? If so, I need to get on the ball and put in our request, too. Thanks:goodvibes

Sorry I missed you Meriann. We just went and went. I don't think we spent as much time at the resort or pool as we usually do. In fact, I didn't get to visit the hottub even once!!! Oh well hubby and I will be back in February for a relaxing trip........maybe, relaxing that is, we will definitely be back!!!

She may have paid for a "pool side" room like we did. The "pool side" rooms are on the first floor and could be by either pool. (you can request a certain pool area but are not guaranteed to get your request)

Thanks for sharing this!

Do you remember what room number you had, by any chance? Was it in the newer section or in the original section?

Thanks again. :)

I want to say 305 and 306. It was in the older section, overlooking the Magnolia (rectangle) Pool, which is the older section.

Thx bunches for the info! The grands BBB appts at 9:30/10 and we couldn't get CRT brkf, so will be happy w/2:30 lunch. We're wondering about doing park between BBB's and lunch with hair doos, etc. - should we try make our appts later, like closer to lunch? Wondering about risk of messing hair before lunch...LOL!! Oh my, the worries of being a Nana to 3 princesses plus 3 cool dudes!! :rotfl2:

We booked our rooms in 53 wks out last Nov and requested first floor Mickey pool side rooms (old section), however they were already spoken for. So we are on wait list and are now on request for rooms just beyond the pool, which may actually be a blessing in disguise ;) . SoG rep informed me, you can make requests, but not guaranteed, as the rooms are not actually assigned until a couple wks out. Yes, the pool rooms go very fast, so if you have requests, they need to have it on your ressie. Good luck! :goodvibes

We were only at the pools twice the whole time. Sat the 14th when we checked in and on fri afternoon. I had a POOL SIDE MASSAGE it was the BEST! We never made it to the hot tub either.

I looked for some mickey heads but never saw any. There was one lady I chatted with on the bus one morning that I "thougth" could be you but I didn't have the guts to ask.
