***Official September 2022 Thread***

Doing 1 night at a Universal Hotel to get Express Pass for the 2 days. Not checking out of POP so will leave our bags there and take a daypack each for that time.

We did the same thing in October for our girls' trip. We stayed checked in to Doubletree Disney Springs. We packed an overnight bag, and left everything else at Doubletree. To me it was worth paying an extra hotel night. I mean overall it was WAYYY cheaper than two days of Express Passes for four. We did use the annual pass hotel discount at Universal. If you haven't looked at that I highly recommend it. It may actually save you money if you buy one annual pass.

Also, what are your thoughts on midday breaks? Is it worth heading back to POP for a couple of hours to break up the day and rest or does it take too much time?

I'm a fan of mid-day breaks, but we usually drive in the morning, and leave the car at the hotel in the evening.

We don't do any early evenings, but we don't have small children (our kids are all 21+). We recharge in the middle of the day, and have dinner reservations almost every night. However, we will do one day in the middle with no parks.

Due to the heat, we will be taking afternoon breaks. We park hop anyway, so going back to the room, then hopping on skyliner back to the parks is no big deal. We like taking a break and I even like taking a nap...LOL!

Thanks all for the warm welcome.
I'm in Melbourne. My wife is from TX so she will fly from NYC to SATX to see family while we go to Orlando for a week and then to TX.

I have a couple of quick questions for y'all (that's my wife's influence coming out).

I had booked Tuesday the 13th for MK. I see now they have a Halloween party that night. I read that would still be a good day to go to MK as it's quieter on party days. I don't mind leaving at 4 pm if we can do most things there (and we have been to Disneyland and Tokyo Disney which are similar).
I was thinking of perhaps doing Hoop De Doo that day. Taking the boat from MK and seeing the 615 show. Would you recommend that? Is the cost and transportation effort worth it?
Or are we better heading back to the hotel for our one early night t as we have an action-packed schedule?

Also, what are your thoughts on midday breaks? Is it worth heading back to POP for a couple of hours to break up the day and rest or does it take too much time?

@tinabina919 - I will have a few NYC questions for you!

Thanks all.
I think that is a great day. People don't often realize how much you can get done on a party day. Is seeing a MK fireworks show a must (not MNSSHP)? Do you have 2 MK days planned?

You will find that people are divided on midday breaks. On our party days, we like to rest in the afternoon but we usually go, go, go otherwise. If you factor in the heat, it might be wise to book a midday ADR just so you get some good A/C time. The other thing you can do is relax at one of the resorts that is close to the parks. We often like to grab an iced coffee and chill. When we went with babies we really didn't have a choice and they loved the pool time too.

We are going Sept. 18 - 28th with my family and 1st Great Grand Baby! She will be 1 1/2 years old. We are staying at POP because the skyliner is the best thing ever! So easy to park hop to HS and Epcot, it's just super amazing to have such easy access. We won't buy Genie + ahead or maybe not at all. We will do Early Morning Hours. When I did use it a couple times back in Dec. I thought it was pretty useless except for one main ride a day. Hoping lower crowds and early morning will eliminate the need altogether. Don't like the heat but with Great Grand Baby's first going to have to stick it out with lots of afternoon pool or nap breaks. Can't wait! Super excited as usual, and it never gets old, no matter how old I get...LOL!
Welcome @ThistleMae to the September 2022 Group!!!! :welcome: Sounds like a very special trip with the 1st Great Grandchild princess:!!! Pool and Nap breaks are the best - so everyone can keep enjoying all the Disney:tink: Magic. The Pop is such a great resort with the Skyliner. Love that Skyliner ❤️. I think all the September 2022 Group is fingers crossed for low crowds too. The excitement continues to build here as weeks are going by. I agree it never gets old when you plan for a Disney Trip and I feel so happy during all the planning. I will add you to the Countdown List and look forward to seeing you here for lots of Disney Planning in the weeks to come. :tigger:

Received our cooling towels in the mail today (thanks Amazon!). Our past trips were in April or early May so we didn’t experience the heat that we are expecting for September. Hoping these cooling towels help! Anyone have other tips for beating the heat?

Thanks, @pigletgirl - I am now leaning towards sticking with MK on the party day and leaving for Hoop De Doo. It will be our only day at MK but I feel as we have been to Disneyland and Tokyo Disney- they are all very similar. And if we get most things done by 5 pm as it's a quieter day that may work well.

Looks like we may have a midday break at Epcot and HS and use Skyliner to get to POP and rest. MK will have Hoop De Doo. At AK- we may just do an ADR and it probably doesn't need a long day anyway.

Thanks all for the tips- it's such a great help! And on the rare chance anyone is heading to Australia (or even Tokyo Disney) I'm happy to give tips :)

Correct about AK. We usually spend a good 4-5 hours there, and then do some pool time. Sometime's we will even do a Boma breakfast or dinner.

Speaking of....

What is everyone's #1 ADR to snag?

I got this neck fan for my 2020 Sept trip and plan to bring it again this year. It definitely helps and feels so nice when you go into an area with ac!

Japan and Tokyo Disney are next on my travel wish list! I've been to France/DL Paris and China/Shanghai DL and can't wait to add Tokyo DL! I've heard it's the most crowded of the parks so that would be my main concern with planning.

I actually started a thread looking for some tips as well.

My fingers crossed hope is to get the Harmonious dining at Rose and Crown. I couldn't manage to snag one in January. It's hard to decide on sit downs though. I find so much temptation in the F&W booths.

You should definitely go! I've only been to the 4 WDW parks (in 2005) and Disneyland but Tokyo Disneysea is by far my favorite park. Tokyo Disneyland is similar to California but Disneysea is so different and so well done.

We went in April - close to Easter- and it wasn't too bad. One thing about the Japanese is they are great at queueing and very patient and respectful so the crowds seem more manageable to me. They also all seemed to follow the same routine so if you plan your day you can get a lot done and avoid the masses.

We stayed 1 night at Mircosta which is actually at Disneysea and watched Fantasmic from our hotel room!
Aside from Disney Japan is an awesome place to visit.

Space 220 in Epcot and Storybook Dinning at Wilderness Lodge are our #1 ADR's we hope to get. Have never been to either one. We went to Topolino's @pigletgirl in Sept 2020 for breakfast. It was the best breakfast we ate.

For keeping cool I plan to order the cooling towels and I found really strong fans on Amazon for our September trip in 2020 that were great and have a really strong breeze. A cooling spray was brought up by I believe @DaniellePoppins in a previous post I have saved I want to order and try.

Thanks for the warm welcome! And thank you so much for managing this thread. I know it takes up lots of time to keep up with it and it is so greatly appreciated. And....as I can tell you are as Disney obsessed as me and many others in here. It's like being in the bubble before the bubble happens!
