***Official September 2022 Thread***

Hi everyone! I'm going in September for my first WDW trip ever at age 48! I had the *perfect* trip planned at BC with my sister's family for my nephew's 7th birthday, but they had to cancel. So, it may be a solo trip, if I can't convince my adult son to go.

Since it's just me now, I'm resort hopping more than I would have. I was able to get a couple of short stays renting DVC points. We'll see how that goes.

Hey All! After a 3 year Hiatus me and the fam are heading down to Disney 09/03-09/10. We typically go the first week in December, but when the discounts showed up for September, I couldn't pass it up! We are coming from Colorado, so not too worried about that heat. But boy oh boy am I worried about the humidity!!!!!

:welcome: in to the September 2022 Group @wdw4rfam!!!! We are so glad you have joined us here. All of us love our Disney planning so you have come to the right group. That is fantastic you are going next week for 10 days!!! Would you give our group a trip report when you get back? I know our group would love that!!! Sounds like a nice 10 days in September at Animal Kingdom Lodge. 🐘🦧🐊🦒🦩 I will add you to our Countdown List and look forward to seeing you here for more planning. :donald:
Just got back, it was amazing. Had great weather until the last couple days- it got hot. But not September hot🥵 We just missed the DVC/AP previews for the new ride. Did space 220- a little disappointing. Experience was just ok, probably won’t go back. The experience leading up to sitting down was fun. But once we sat down, food and restaurant were just ok. We stayed split between kidani and poly and had an amazing time. The new creations cafe and Starbucks are huge. Now to plan with you all for September. Yay.

:tink:Welcome in to the September 2022 Group @ambolejack!!!! Yes that humidity:sunny:🌦️ is something else in September but it can be a trade off for lower crowds. Glad you joined our Group. The discount also gave me and some of our September people here a nice discount. I will add you too the Countdown List but if you would like to post your resort I will add it also on page one of this thread. We look forward to seeing you here for more planning in the weeks to come. :smickey:

Anyone tracking rental car prices yet? They're bad, which I expected, but since I haven't rented a car since 2019 the sticker shock is worse. 😂

Thanks! We are staying at AKL.

We were leaning away from a rental car, so your post is making me think that's a good decision (to not rent). Think of gas prices, too! We will probably do Uber from/to airport and then Disney transportation while on site.

We never rent a car - like to stay in the "bubble" the entire trip. Although now we'll have to decide how to get from the airport to our resort and back since the Disney buses don't run anymore.

Same here! I think there's also a shuttle that may be cheaper than Uber? Need to do some research...

I've been pricing out Mears Connect vs. Sunshine Flyer for September. For 2 people RT it's $64 with Mears, I forget exactly what SF was, but it was around the same price.

A small car for our dates purchasing from Undercover Tourist (buying a ticket - can be any type of ticket, not just theme parks, to get a 50% discount for Budget or Avis) was roughly $165 for picking up on a Thursday and dropping off on a Monday when I checked a few days ago.. The last 2 times (not just MCO) I've gone with the Avis option since Budget usually has longer lines and they screwed us with the tolls thing a couple of years ago which was a pain to resolve. Budget is a few dollars cheaper though than Avis with this booking.

Was just talking about this today, we're probably going to go with the Mears Shuttle for WDW in September since it's just 2 of us for this trip, so cheaper. In April, DD and I went with Super Shuttle (which is also Mears) to Universal and it was about $80 RT for 2 people, but it went flawlessly. Worked a lot like DME did with 3-4 resorts for dropoffs...we were last, lol.

Edit to add, I was looking at the smallest car for pricing

I used a car service in January that I really liked if anyone is considering that let me know. (January was touch and go with the Mears service since it was brand new, I understand its gotten better. A lot of the people on that thread also didn't like the pickup times to go back to the airport. They were cutting it really close in the beginning.)

But to throw in my two cents with the choice between shuttles or Uber/Lyft, I'd go with the shuttle. I know its more convenient to do the ride shares since you just go right to your hotel with no long waits or additional stops, but a friend of mine who lives in Orlando said Uber prices went up quite a bit, and have gotten a little harder to come by depending on the time of day. She said between the pandemic and gas prices a lot of drivers gave it up. There's probably more reliability for the shuttles right now.

We don't leave property other than groceries, but staying at OKW we love parking right outside our door and getting to the parks so quickly. I hate relying on the bus.

When will the theme park schedule be out for September? Hard to plan days without knowing the opening and closing times for each park.

So excited to say we will be there from September 2-11. I turn 50 on the 11th... so I'm pretty excited to be celebrating in WDW.
We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I'm already on the list we just added an extra day. lol

Just from watching blogs that announce new hours, it seems to me they change hours up to a few weeks ahead. Only ever to add more time, but it seems like you almost have to plan for the placeholder hours and be prepared to be surprised if they see higher than expected ticket sales close to time. That’s just the commentary I’ve seen a lot from blogs though

Curious how MNSSHP will impact the hours at all the parks. I’ll be bummed if I reserve parks, hours change and then can’t change reservation to the park open with the latest hours.
