I was looking online for them yesterday when the Heely question came up, since both my DH and I had remembered seeing rules about it but not where. I tried everywhere, and could not find a losting of park rules. I couldn't even find a photo of the park rules that are at the entrance to every park!

the major things you can't bring into the parks:
no glass containers
no alcohol
no straws/lids/balloons at AK
no skates/skateboards/rollerblades/skis/heelys
no bicycles
no wagons

Besides these boards, your best best may be to contact WDW Online if you have a specific question. Like BlindTyldak, I looked online for a list during the Heelys discussion; I was also curious about the bathing-suit tops rule. I found posts for HKDL, but not WDW. I ended up emailing them a question, too, and here's the response I received along with my question about appropriate attire, with my name changed).

If you'd like to contact WDW Online, the address is: guest.mail@wdw.disneyonline.com

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World Resort.

The Walt Disney World Resort is a heavily themed environment whose world-renowned brand is woven into every element of the show. We reserve the right to exclude from all of our gated attractions guests whose appearance could create a distraction to the show. Examples that might be considered as such include the following: Adult costumes or clothing that could be viewed as a costume (unless worn by a child under the age of 10). Masks. Easily visible obscene or offensive language or graphics. Excessively torn clothing. Clothing with offensive material. Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment.

The goal of the Walt Disney World Resort is to provide a safe, secure environment for our Guests to enjoy the show and our Cast to deliver the show. To this end, all theme park guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times. Generally, swimsuit tops are allowed when worn with other appropriate garments.

Florida law does not permit in-line skating or roller shoes on roadways, Theme Parks or parking lots. Please contact your Resort Recreation Cast Member for information concerning appropriate guidelines for in-line skating, skateboarding, and scooters at your Resort location.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Melissa Acevedo

Could you please send me the information--a list is fine--of Walt Disney World Resort's Rules and Regulations (similar to the one offered for Hong Kong Disneyland)? I'm particularly interested in knowing the guidelines for appearance and attire (everyday clothing, bathing suits, shoes) and for policies on guest behavior. To be more specific, the question has arisen about appropriate attire for children with regards to 1) wearing bathing suits in the non-water parks and 2) the use of Heelys Roller Shoes.

Thank you in advance.

Best,

deekaypee

Wow, I love that response you got, Deekaypee. I didn't know that it was against the law for roller shoes to be used in theme parks, I thought it was just a regular "Disney sez so" rule! but it makes a lot of sense. :)

Thanks for asking/posting!:)

The one part I find confusing is that

all theme park guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times. Generally, swimsuit tops are allowed when worn with other appropriate garments.

I guess they're probably saying swimsuit tops are "generally" (ie not mostly, but not always) okay for women to wear as long as they cover everything most shirts/tanks would cover- a triangle string top probably wouldn't be allowed- and they are wearing regular bottoms- like shorts or pants. I also guess that children as well as adults must wear shirts at all times.

Do you guys agree?

I figure the 'other appropriate garments' would be a t-shirt/coverup over the swimsuit...

I was pretty happy with the detailed answer about the in-line skating, too, and glad other people might find the email useful.

The way I interpreted the bathing suit rule was related to the excessive skin portion of the email response. I get the impression a tankini or one-piece top, with shorts, or a bikini with a cover-up are okay. But a bikini top alone, no.

Side note: I wanted the clarification in part because I just visited DL during this most recent heat wave, and there were enough adolescents/young women in bikini tops to get my attention. That's when I realized I do lots of voluntary editing of my clothing when I pack for Disney. For instance, one of my favorite t-shirts uses a catchphrase from a Bitter Films Release; it features one animated character saying, "I'm a consumer wh***." Love the shirt, wear it all the time. But I didn't want parents to be put in the position of explaining the shirt's social commentary. (For the record, I don't often interact with children in my everyday life.)

It's been YEARS since I've been to a Six Flags, would rather save my money for Disney, but I recall lots of signage about appropropriate clothing at that park that I don't remember seeing at Disney. (Not necessary? Disney's rules exist without being written because they're implicitly by guests? Guests' expectations actually help create/uphold the rules?)

Oh, and I was a little surprised by the costume/mask rule for adults. I'm pretty sure I've seen this one broken.
