Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

Looks like the Neverland Club is closing from Jan. 1 to Mar. 31, 2014.

Sort of surprised they announced this so soon given their tendency to wait until 4-6 weeks before construction to announce anything.

Maybe this means we'll hear something about the Nanea pool or GCH sooner than later?

(probably too much to hope that no announcement about the pool or GCH means those have been put off indefinately)

I wonder if this will also affect the laundry facilities. Aren't they in the same building?

They are refurbishing The Never Land Club. Dont think it will interfere with laundey

Trader Sams would not be a restaurant and even the one in Disneyland only serves food because it is connected to Tangaroa Terrace. Considering where they want to put this one it is possible that Captain Cook’s will serve food to Trader Sam’s if the plan continues as I was told but we have a while until we will know that for sure.

All the construction equipment from the company that is doing the room refurbishment seems to be gone from the parking lot. This indicates to me that Rapa Nui and Tahiti will not get the new room design before they close.

As far as the construction permits I am confident that WB does not stand for Water Bungalow but since I am a Mechanical Engineer and not a Civil Engineer I would have to say I don’t know what it stands for. I was just using it as a map to show you how far out that sections of pilings for the structures will come and how it will affect the view towards the castle.

As far as the Neverland Club, last time they refurbished it in 2004 they moved childcare into the Tangaroa Terrace and laundry was not affected.

Well we know that the letters that have been sent out for Sept\Oct guest state GCH will not be under construction so it will have to be after that..

Good news about the restaurant I bet it's Trader SAMs also good news about a waterfall!

Oct 6th stay - I have not gotten any letters. TA has not either.

We received a letter today from the Poly GM, Norman Noble.
The letter stated they are working on refurbishing some of the resort. Sunset Point and a portion of the beach will be unavailable (didn't state which portion, though).
The letter went on to state much of the white-sand beach will still be open and accessible as well as views of MK. All of the world-class amenities, including shops, pools, marina and dining experiences are also still available.

We are checking in Oct 6 (from PO, after ToT 10-miler) and out on Oct 10.
We have a CL TP view booked (Hawaii) and requested 2nd floor. Hope any construction at Sunset Point doesn't interfere with the TP view. DW is calling the Poly today to find out.

I'll try to remember and post an update.

There is still plenty of time for you to get it.. Also if your booked in a category that may not be affected you may not get the letter.. Meaning if your in TPV & requested Tuvalu since you won't be affected maybe you won't get letter.

This might be old news... I just got off the phone with a CM who told me that views in buildings 5, 9, 10, 11 will be impacted starting Sept 9th - EOY. Also mentioned the east beach and south sunset point.

Do you know what buildings those are?

Those are Hawaii, Tokelau, Rapa Nui and Tahiti.

The original notification that went out internally about the construction mentioned those longhouse as being affected.

This might sound like a stupid question, but with all the talk about the work being done on the GCH, do you think they would close all the restaurants while they are working on the building or do you think they would keep them open and work around it? At first, I thought they'd keep them open but if the whole building is getting a fresh look, I would think O'Hana and Kona would betting getting a makeover as well, no?

They will have to offer some place for food. In the past they had options like Tangaroa Terrace (which they have mentioned opening when the restaurants are closed) and when they closed Captain Cook’s they relocated it to the old Snack Isle location until it was done. There is no guarantee as to what will remain open or if Kona and ‘Ohana will reopen as the same thing. When I can share more info I will but for now that is all I can say.

I am staying Theme Park View Club level and I was called by one of the manager's last night & inform me my view would not be affected. She said it would be much later in the year that it would be. She said just wait & see & if I didn't like view due to some construction I could get my money back. I will wait & see. My stay will be Sept 11, 2013. One night.
