***Official Planning Thread -DECEMBER 2024 - Welcome all!***

Upclose with Rhinos is super popular and earliest available is 12/27 (for 2-3 people) and 12/28 for 4 people. Kids don’t want to repeat so we are skipping it this year.

Gaaarggghhh!!!!

I didn't know you could make reservations for the Space 220 lounge!!! I just realized it today and absolutely zero times are available our entire trip. Bummer.
I did the exact same thing. I swear I heard it was walk up only when it first opened and then just filed it away in my brain that way. Wasn’t even on my radar to book this trip.

We ended up choosing Spice Road Table. We just wanted to sit while having a small plates type dinner for our first evening at the parks. It looks pretty there. We are not going around fireworks times, so it was easy to get.

We’ll be there Dec 21-28, Caribbean Beach Resort. Extended family trip celebrating youngest son’s college graduation. First time over Christmas. I’m nervous but excited.

Welcome! You are on the list.

It's our first time during the holiday season. Honestly, I'm really struggling with what to bring. I have zero patience, so waiting to see the weather forecast to decide on what I'm brining is not sitting well with me. 😂

If you’re staying over Christmas Eve/Day how do you plan to celebrate the actual holiday (if that is your tradition)?

Got everything we wanted. We knew Space220 lounge wouldn’t be available for our Epcot days (earlier in the trip). Might check day of but we have the festival of the holidays. We did book the lounge on our HS day but will most likely cancel (LLMP doesn’t work great with park hopping and ADRs) and we only booked 1 HS day (most stressful park for us).

Was able to get Fantasmic Dining for Sci fi at 4:55 pm (only first show available; so maybe more will be added later). That was the latest ADR. Bad value on the dining plan but teen wanted it (quiet and love the shakes) and we have so many buffets booked. The package wouldn’t show up on the app on my phone so had to use desktop and search doesn’t work either. Had to go to the Fantasmic page and then click on dining package. Sometimes my days would load other times they wouldn’t. Topolinos was 60+7 so wide open.

STK71 was hard to book (12/23 60+2). No availability at all Dec 24-27 (maybe blocked for onsite guests). Couldn’t get a table for 5 around 5 pm so booked for 4. Will check in early and we’re ok if one of us sits at the lounge. Dessert parties have been released but we are going to Mk on 12/30 so booked earlier show (younger kids).

Bibbidi bobbidi was wide open. Overall not bad but did have a few glitches and had to enter my phone number every time (credit card was stored and sped up things; previously had to manually enter despite it being on my profile). It seems like they’re limiting the number of devices using the same account. Phone would freeze if I was scrolling on the desktop.

We’re coming in from the Midwest so will have winter coats with us. We will need jackets as well (for WDW). You can always buy things in the parks. They have a nice selection of sweaters.

Yes we are too, but i'm not wearing my biggest winter coat. Just one for weather in the low 50s here. That will be fine if colder nights in Florida with a sweater under.

I'm more concerned with if I can wear my dresses day into night w/a light jacket or if I need to wear jeans every night, which means bringing more clothing. Last few years have been all over the places in temps when we go, but mostly seemed warmer.

Not sure when in December you're going, but mid-Jan 2023 it dropped into the 30s while we were there. We were VERY glad to have our heavy winter coats and gloves, and we're from upstate NY and very used to the cold! Two days later it warmed right back up.
You really never know what to expect until a few days prior.

Early December. If it gets that cold, I'll just buy a bigger sweatshirt. I am not brining my big puffer coat! 😂
I'll have a quilted mid-thigh coat with earmuffs and gloves just in case.

Sounds good! We'll be there early december as well, and as of now I'm just impatiently waiting to see the forecast drop out of the 80s, lol!! I'd love some good hoodie weather :-)

I wouldn't mind low 80s w/sunshine if humidity is low! I want it to be a little warm while we are there. It will be cold at home, that's enough for me. 😂

It’s high 60s and people’s are wearing shorts today. After a few days in Orlando we did feel cold in mid 50s (happened during Jersey week once; travel blankets were all sold out in the gift shop).

We go with a layering system. Short sleeved shirts, a couple long-sleeved shirts, a lighter jacket, a lightweight puffer coat (like an insulating layer), and a raincoat. All three jackets pack small and can be layered if needed. I bring mostly pants and one pair of shorts just in case. We have been multiple times in November/December and have not worn shorts very often, but we don't rope drop and tend to be in the parks for parties and things late into the evening/night. When it gets down to 50 degrees at midnight and we're running around outside, I want that puffer coat! We were there one December when the high temperature a couple of days was 40-something and I was very glad I had it.

Leggings under your dresses maybe? (If it will work with the style?) I did this a few years ago, worked great for me when needing some extra warmth or coverage. And layers are definitely your friend--even though days may feel warm and you'll be moving around a lot, nights can catch you off-guard. I always carry a lightweight neck gaiter with me, for both protection against chills and sun.
