***Official Planning Thread -DECEMBER 2024 - Welcome all!***

We booked what we can afford without a discount, knowing that there may not be any discounts when we go.
That being said, does December ever have discounts? Would they be out by now?

I know there is free dining, but not the week we are there, week after Thanksgiving. Just wondering if any room discounts would come out again? And if we already have a package booked, can we still apply a room discount if available?

Thank you!
This site lists historical discount release dates, just to give you an idea of years past.

Welcome! I added you to the first page.

We are eagerly waiting for party announcements. Any announcements, then I can start updating the first page and we will know it's finally coming! :D

I expect more discounts to come out for December. The only one announced so far was exclusively for Disney Visa card holders not the “general public”. Likely might not see them until the fall (September-ish time frame)
How do future discounts work on already booked/paid stays? Would I just call and ask if any discounts apply to my reservations?

Sometime you can modify it online. Go to “change reservation” & you’ll see different things like change dates, resort, room type etc. You’ll also see, near the top, “change offer”. Right now it likely says standard or something like that. You’ll then see the new offer available for your dates & you click on that.

I rarely have to call them to get the new offer.

There have been discounts for December in the past. We booked our December trip using the bounce back discount from our trip last December. You can apply a discount to your current reservation if one is available. Sometimes you have to change a room category or a date in order to get the new discount. For example, if you have a standard view booked but the discount is only for resort view, then you would have to change your reservation to get the discount. :)

We’ll be there December 3-6, currently booked at All-Star Music. Never visited at Xmas time before, and very excited to see all the decorations.

Debating whether to splurge on Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but with our Canadian dollar it’s so pricey. Probably close to $1k for our family of four.
Yay!! If I'm able to go this year I'll be going the first week of December as well.
I live in Canada now too and the price is getting up there. I remember when the party ticket was less than an extra theme park day so I would use the party ticket for my MK day (base tickets), now the cost is negligible.

As @DenaRox said: only you can determine if that extra cost is worth it for your family. They also made a good point about still being in the Yuletide atmosphere even if you end up not going to the party. The ENTIRE resort is decorated for the holidays and many Deluxe resorts have some form of big gingerbread display, with the Grand Floridian having a giant gingerbread house you can but gingerbread treats from.
Epcot also has the Festival of the Holidays and is one of my favorites. This festival is available with admission into Epcot with only extra costs for the various festival food Booths themed around regional holiday food. There's lots more festivities too. So even if your family can't do the extra cost of the party tickets, Epcot still has an all day "party"/festival

We booked Christmas at the new Fort Wilderness Cabins with our SAPs. Golf cart is already booked and family planning how to decorate it for Christmas. This is our first stay at the campgrounds.

Exciting! Do you have dates you'd like me to add to the front page list? It's not a requirement! :D

Hey y’all - it’s so exciting to hear about all of your plans! We are anxiously counting down to our very first Christmas-time Disney trip. We will be there Dec 21-27, doing one night at Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo (testing out DVC point rental), and the rest at Beach Club. We never stayed at a deluxe resort before, so I am thrilled to try these both out. Now they just need to announce party details, etc, so we can plan the rest of our trip :).

We need a countdown for JN and MVMCP. I believe they're going to be announced by the end of this week. At least no later than the 12th (hopefully not that long). I'm sitting here trying to hone my telepathic skills and sending "power of suggestion" messages to Disney...Mickey's Very Merry... Jollywood... Mickey's Very Merry... Jollywood...

As soon as I read anything I'll add all the info to front page too!

And you guys can let me know if I miss anything.
