***OFFICIAL*** October 2011 - Updated 10/08/11

For Real. What is wrong with people? They do not know what they are missing. :rotfl2: 23 more days for me.:banana::banana:

I have to control myself at work. I've resisted to giving them countdown updates only weekly and only telling them stuff when they ask. :) ....

or when I'm buying something else for the trip....

or when I need help with a decision....

You get the idea...:yay:

Seconded!!! :lmao: I have to laugh because everyone can just walk into my office and know I am obsessed. But....it's my office. nah nah nah. LOL

Whenever I go back to the parts department, one of the guys always asks "how many more days?" because he knows I have a ticker! :)

But I can empathize....people need to get with the program and get on the Disney train!!!! (can you tellI am utterly exhausted? I haven't stopped since I got to work at 7 this morning. And, yes, I am actually going to walk out the door in a few minutes....shocking, I know. Yea, me!!!!).

Ok, I'm just checking in to say . I was out with my college peeps for a good portion of the weekend (I don't want to talk abou the game - stupid Penn State) and have been busy all day today. I feel so disconnected!! But I wanted to say hi and say 34 days!!!!!

Oh, and also I bought a pair of jeans today at Old Navy for 68 cents! :cool1: They apparently were the last of a discontinued style or something and that's how they were marked. I didn't even use a coupon!!! You just have to tell people about THAT kind of deal!!

I'll catch up by tomorrow. Have a great night!!

Aww!! I wish it was quitting time! It's not even 3 pm here yet! HA.

Speaking of tickers, I want a real, physical one for my desk at work. Have any of you ever seen one? Kind of like the Mickey countdown to Christmas ones? Where you change the blocks to say number of days? I want that, but for my vacations. LMAO. My DBF thought of it, but we haven't been able to find one!

Any ideas?

I'm getting so stressed because I have no lists yet to speak of because I've been slammed at work for the last 2 months and can't think straight. I have a Disney basket, I keep throwing things in, can't figure out how to surprise DD with our trip yet...still a secret after over a year! Woot! Woot! Can't figure out any plans because we've never been. It's so hard being a newbie. One bit of good news is, got our car rental down to 161.00/week with a benefit discount from work. AirTran changed our flight by 2 hours though.

I do have a mini spreadsheet with where we're eating, which park, etc., but don't have "plan yet." Harmony BB booked just before MNSSHP for DD. I'm usually ultra organized, so this is about to kill me. Still don't have a house sitter yet! YIPES. My kitty isn't well and I don't know what's wrong with him. Have I complained enough yet??? :lmao: I'm getting really nervous for some reason.

DH tolerates my Dis obsession he contributes to it - yesterday he brought home a handful of green mickey heads from Home Depot.:thumbsup2

That's awesome. My DH is coming around. He never wanted to be involved in vacation planning before, but Disney has changed all that.

Honestly, when I said the other day, I think we should go to MNSSHP party and I think we should dress up and he said "I agree." I thought I was going to fall out of my chair. He's actually be online looking for costume options. Really, who is this man? :rotfl:

I just don't know if it is worth the money - $6000 for 5 nights at Christmas - that is crazy high - we could stay at a deluxe for 8 days for that price.

That's where we were last year. We considered a cruise. But we would have had to do it on a budget -- and the best way to enjoy a cruise is to include all the extras. (We did one a number of years ago.) For the same price, we went all out on a 10-day trip to Disney. We had a one-bedroom at BWV (instead of a tiny ship cabin) and we got to do the Wild Africa Trek when it first opened. I know people complain about the prices, but for us right now, Disney is totally the best bang for our buck.

It's getting closer!!!

I did a practice pack over the weekend:lmao: ... I aslo had to make sure I had enough luggage to haul our gear and still have souvin-ear space. I thought I may have to buy one more suit case.

I love the idea of a practice pack. :rotfl2:

On the subject of souvenirs, last trip we had more than would fit into our suitcases (sale at the lego store). So we went to the business center and shipped a box. It was less than $20. Definitely less than flying with an extra suitcase both ways, and no hassle.

Plus the box arrived a few days after we got home and it was like Christmas, getting all those Disney souvenirs. :goodvibes

This is what my DBF said when I tried to buy new luggage. :) Although going to the west coast it wouldn't be $20, he insisted it will just be easier to ship it home. I eventually relented and returned the new luggage. LOL

Can someone please explain to me what is WRONG with other people???? I mean I know I talk about Disney everyday, and I know it is ALL I talk about, but shoot - My boss should WANT to talk about Disney RIGHT??? Some people are just Mickey haters.....

So I come to you (ALL of you) to talk about DISNEY. 18 days.

I must be really lucky. My new boss loves Disney.

And even more wacky -- i'm a big scrapbooker, and he actually knows what this is. I mean, really knows. Apparently his ex-GF was in the scrapbooking industry. So when I said I spent a weekend at a scrapbooking convention, he didn't think that was the slightest bit wierd.

I understand. The next month at work is going to be so busy. Oh....and did I mention I have an audit starting three days before I leave?:rotfl2:

The only real lists I have are my packing list and then a datebook of sorts of what parks what days. I don't plan out everything to the T. I know...strange for someone with OCD, isn't it? But....I learned a long time ago that with kids we have to wing it a lot. I have a mental list in my head of things I would like to hit at certain times, but I am not going to overly control this vacation. I can't do that to my family. They think I'm crazy enough as it is.

I have planned out which park on which days, but nothing else. If I went commando, my DBF would leave me. As DLR vets, we are in a unique position to not HAVE to do all the rides. I think we will hit the WDW-only rides first (not forgetting FP to the big ones), and then see where we are with time...

Also, being DVC members and knowing we will come back helps too!

We went last October for a week. Got to enjoy EF&W and MNSSHP. The weather was perfect and the crowds seemed manageable. It was also our first trip as DVC members! We had so much fun last year that we decided we had to go again this year and we've managed not to tell our kids (DD7, DD5, DS3).

If we can keep in our own excitement, we are going to tell them the morning we leave. I spent too much time today watching you-tube videos of the parade and villains show and I'm getting way too excited!

I could never keep the trip a secret. I'm having a hard enough time keeping MNSSHP a secret from DS8 for the next month. That means hiding costumes, touring plans, etc.

Yesterday, I shredded my park schedule after all the adults reviewed it. :lmao:

The tutu colors for my MNSSHP costume are perfect. Whew! Now I'm just concerned with the corset color. The style of top looks great, but the big difference in colors....eh...it just isn't me, but it's a Halloween costume right? That's the point! So torn!!

LOL- i so feel your pain. My coworkers are pretty cool about it. I immediately put my WDW college program graduation ears (15 years old) up in my office and all my other disney crap (as DH calls it). Including my "Is there life after Disney World?" bumper sticker a friend got me. :rotfl: They sort of know it is my thing and that I own DVC, so that we go a lot, well not a lot, but it is usually our vacation for the year. I helped one coworker plan her trip and she was very thankful, although thought I was a bit crazy. Other friends and family know I am the disney nut and think that is okay. Heck, i even have a few friends that get it. Everyone has something strange they are into. My boss, a VP is into skulls. Has an expensive skull charm necklace, skull luggage tags etc. Yep, travelling on business, her with her skull tags and me with my mickey ones. Brilliant!

so sorry you have been so busy, but it sounds like you got a good start on your planning at least. hopefully it slows down a bit so you can catch up! :wizard:

I don't know about you -- but swimming exhausts my family, adults and kid alike. I think the water park and then no nap, is a recipe for disaster. I would do Plan B.
Thank you so much- that seems to be the general consensus and I think i will definitely heed that advice. A grouchy, water-logged toddler is no fun at all.

Hmm..I guess it is easiest to just say DITTO to the last few pages of posts!

My week of preparation activities has included:
  • Build my packing list
  • Bought Disney t-shirts and some halloween shirts. I even got a really cute halloween/disney scrubs top!
  • Watched a Disney travel video on netflix
  • Mentioned the trip at work to anyone who didn't run when they saw me with the "Must talk about Disney" look in my eyes
  • Bought carry on size rolling duffel bags ($30 at Costco!) for the kids
  • Made my hubby sit through an hour and a half description of our trip plans

There are still more things on the to-do list, but we are moving right along as we get closer and closer. Just a few more weeks till our adventure begins. pirate:

11 days until my first time at Disneyworld! I cannot wait!!! Looking forward to it! I am going to New York City first though (i leave in 6 days!) which is so exciting too!!! :)
