***OFFICIAL*** October 2011 - Updated 10/08/11

Hello, everyone!!! I am so sorry for being absent....I have been busy with work and prepping for Thanksgiving, etc. Anyway, I agree that it might be too hot in late September to switch my trip to free dining....I'll just keep my fingers crossed for a discount code. lol Besides, my family are pickers and we don't really eat too many meals, so, to us at least, it's just not a value. All five of us can happily share an adult chicken finger meal and be satisfied for a few hours. Also, having been in late September one year (2009) and late October another (2007), I can honestly say I was SO HOT in late September (the details are too gross to share).Lastly, welcome NandK and taramoz.....I love the idea of renting points. Maybe if I can't get a discount code, I'll look into that. And you're both staying at BLT around the same time....too cool!!! I agree that it would be totally awesome to be able to walk to MK. I want to stay at Poly for the atmosphere and the view of MK; I think we are going to do appetizers and desserts one night at Cali Grill so the kids can see the view from there!
Hope everyone else is doing well!!!!

Thanks for the friendly welcome. We will also try to do Cali Grill at dinner along with Chef Mickey's anytime (last trip dinner was great). We are going to try to book all ADR's along the monorail line so we can avoid the hustle and bustle of the buses when trying to make a reservation on time.
On another note, we considered booking through disney just in case a discount came out later but after running the numbers renting points and purchasing tix and dining wasn't that much more. I spoiled my wife and daughters with a one bedroom villa at Kidani village last year and now I don't think we can go back to a regular room without a kitchen. I'm either going to have to buy in to DVC soon or keep renting because disney prices are steep in comparison.

This is my FIRST Post & It's a post to celebrate our booking of our October 2011 Disney World Trip! I'm so stinking excited I can hardly stand it....

I'm coming to this wonderful forum for all the wonderful knowledge you guys have. I'm hoping to learn learn & learn some more from you...I'm sure I'll be post lots & lots of questions. :confused3

Thanks sooooooooooo much for sharing your ideas & knowledge.:worship:

Hi all

First time posting on this thread, we will be in the World for 14 days from the middle of October next year. We are staying at the Grand Beach resort on Lake Bryan, we are sharing a 3 bedroom with some very good friends.

We will be purely doing Disney and plan to spend as much of the 14 days there that we can. We will be taking our 6 yr old son on his first trip to the World, although he has been to DLRP 3 times we are hoping that it will blow him away.

We have been quite few times as a couple and with a more adult (non-rowdy) crowd and really looking forward to taking him on/to all the things we love.

We are planning on going to Cirque as I am sure he will love this, we have been 3 times and still can't wait to go again. He loves watching any sort of performance so World Showcase and the small shows in each country should really appeal as well as the bigger shows at MK.

Nothing else really planned at the moment but I suspect Cafe Mickey and Crystal Palace will be getting booked. Getting a haircut with colour and sprinkles will be a must and might even get mine done again. MNSSHP will be a must do and we are there during Food and Wine so some responsible eating and drinking will be in order, no drinking around the World for me this time as I will be driving and can't use Disney Transportation to take me home.

Might even see a few of you there, that's all for now.

Steve

Cancelled or original res for Oct 5-15 at Pop and then booked one for Sept 28-Oct 8 at ASMU FS -- with free dining YEA-- our kids will miss about 4 days of school but I am not worried about that- I am worried about the weather, we are used to Dec Orlando not hot sticky Sept/Oct!! Oh well we will be happy anyway!

We're planning on early October 2011 (Sept 28 - Oct 5) :goodvibes

Josh really likes the idea of the Food & Wine Fest. And I've never been to Disney while it was going on, so it'll be fun to experience it!

I'm pretty sure I'm renting DVC points at BCV or BWV.. if that doesn't work out, we'll probably stay at Caribbean Beach maybe?

Wow. This is EXACTLY our dates!!! :thumbsup2 lol. We'll be staying at POR. I have never done the Food and Wine either.....seems we have a lot in common.

Joining you guys!

We'll be going Oct 9 - 14. It'll be my whole family -- my, DH, DD, mom, dad, brother, brother's g/f.

This will be DD's and my brother's g/f's first trip to WDW! DD will be a couple months shy of 3 when we go and I can't wait to do Disney with a kid and see how excited she is about everything. :)

We're in the process of picking a resort right now. I'm a huge pre-planner and it's killing me that all of us keep going back and forth on where we want to stay. I want to book stuff & get the ball rolling!! As of right now I think we're going to do CBR. First time in that resort for any of us.

I have to keep resisting changeing our reservation to take advantage of the FD promo, we are currently going Oct 23-29 but the heat and humidity of Sept-Early Oct is what is holding me back.

I am wondering what promotions might be offered in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Mk opening, seems to me if I am recalling correctly the celebrations before started Oct. 1 and ran for a year thru to the following October.

Awesome! I'm still 95% sure that's the week we're still going with. I just found out that my MIL's timeshare exchanges for DVC resorts, so I'm super excited to check out availability! (We'll be able to do a 2 bedroom! YEAHHH!!)

I am too! But are they EVEN DOING anything for the 40th?? I haven't heard a peep.

looking to go for October 7-16, 2011 now that we have decided between that and December. Getting super excited because I just realized if we rent points we can pay about the same as what we were gonna to for POFQ. So we are going to try for in order BLT, BCV, or BWV. Can't wait to stay at the upgraded resort.

As I am so Disney Obsessed as my family calls me I am forcing DH to go through restaurants and pick the ones he likes. So when we get to 180day mark I'll be all set for my ADR's

I'm hoping to go next October, from 10/15 (or 14 if I can talk DH into an extra day! :rotfl:) to 10/22! I REALLY want to stay deluxe at an Epcot resort, Beach Club or Boardwalk for easy access to the Food and Wine festival, but if no good discounts are available, I will probably stay at CSR! Everything is up in the air right now, but this is what I would like to do! :cool1:

Ever since I booked our vacation back on November 8th I kept thinking about switching our dates to take advantage of FD, so today with only days left in the FD promotion and the uncertainty of what the future holds in the way of promotions I did it...I called and changed our reservation and ended up saving $900+ :yay:

They will surely come out with a great promotion now for the end of October :rotfl:

Have to change my ticker- We are not going Sept 29th to Oct 5th instead of Oct 23-29

Will be heading back to the World October 22-October 29 at our home away from home, POP. Best time of year to go, F&W Festival, MNNSHP, Great Weather, Moderate Crowds. Hoping they will add Free Dining like they did last year.

We will be surprising our "kids" DD 26, DS 29, and DIL 27 with the trip as a Christmas present. :santa: We weren't planning on going again until 2012, but I just couldn't wait 2 years.

We're thinking of 10/15-22 for F&W. I'd love to go earlier, but with the way the Jewish holidays fall, there's no way. Oh well. Hoping to get a good room discount, either GP or AP!

Hello, everyone and welcome, newcomers!!! I am so sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but I have a very good reason: I hosted Thanksgiving at my house, was busy baking cookies for Christmas and then - BAM!!! - I was in a car accident.

Yes, our Disney vacation will be affected by it; no, I wasn't too badly hurt. My back and neck are damaged and my right hand is sprained....not much fun when you sign things for a living! lol I'm trying to look on the positive side of things....

Anyway, I have a written list of who will be down when and I will add it to the first post hopefully no later than tomorrow.

Have a great week everyone!!! I hope you all had happy holidays and wish you the best in 2011!!!!:goodvibes

So very sorry to hear of your accident but glad it was not serious, with time it sounds as if you will be back to normal which is all one can hope and pray for.
Have a Happy New Year and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi everyone, my husband and I will be taking our daughter for her first trip to Disney in October. We are going 10/21-10/29 and are staying at the Grand Floridian. Our daughter will be 5 when we go, any suggestions would be welcome, I'm new to planning a family vacation to Disney!! This board has already been such a help, esp. now that I'm starting to look at ADRs and everything else.

OK, I did it - booked POFQ for October 15-22 with the AAA discount. Very excited! Now if a GP or AP discount comes out . . . :wizard:

I am trying to convince my hubby to an anniversary trip in October. Food and wine festival is a bonus! Forgot about that. He has never been and isn't sure he would like it, but am sure I can convince him.
