***OFFICIAL*** October 2011 - Updated 10/08/11

May I join? :)

We just got back from our first trip (just DH & I for our anniversary) and are ready to return again! :woohoo: We will be heading back to the World on Oct 11-18 with our 4 kids (their first time). Right now I have a saved offer for AsMu, but not sure if we'll end up there or not. I'm exploring the option of staying offsite (anyone have suggestions on that?) and paying OOP for our meals instead. Of course I'm hoping for a pin or FD to come up and that'll decide it for us for sure. All I know is I just bought plane tickets from Oct 11-18, so we'll be at WDW that week, no matter what. lol :goodvibes
sounds like a great time! how old are your kiddos?

I just booked our first trip just DH & I. We are going October 22-31 and staying at ASSp! No dining plan but I'm hoping to book HDDR for my birthday on the 30th! This will also be our first MNSSHP! El cheapo trip so we could come at all but just can't wait to be back! :cool1:
HDDR is so much fun! we love it- a tradition every time my extended family goes.

ADRs in the AM! Hope I dont have any computer issues.
Good luck!!!!!

Hi! You will be there the same time as us--well we will arrive on Sunday, not Saturday b/c we are driving--I am making my ADRs on Tuesday!! Really excited!! Hope you get want you want!! :goodvibes

And that is the same time we will be at the AKL as well! We are doing ADR's tomorrow as well, I am getting a bit nervous... but luckily we don't have too many to make. Only 6 months away!!

Hey everyone - I have a question. We have 4 kids (2 preteen girls and 2 boys who will be 7 and almost 4). What suggestions, if any, do you have for any character dining or dinner event? The girls are (will be) my step daughters so I never was able to experience the princess age with them, but I don't want to force that on them at their older age now... and what is boy friendly? My boys don't really care about princesses so I am not sure what to do. My youngest LOVES Mickey Mouse so I have debated doing Chef Mickeys or something. Basically I have decided what will work best for us will be the dining events like Fantasmic Dinner Package and the Dessert Party. Any other suggestions along those lines?

Sorry for asking such a loaded question, but we really appreciate any help!

Ohana Breakfast has Mickey, Pluto and Lilo and Stitch which could be a good option. 1900PF for Dinner would be fun since it has prince charming, cindy and the stepmother and sisters if you are really looking for a more fun dinner that isn't too childish IMO.

congrats on the ADRs!!! seems like a lot of folks are having the same issue online- having to reboot and start over.

good luck tomorrow!

so hard to mix the preteens with the 4/7yos! But, i would say Hoop Dee Doo is something fun everyone can enjoy. I would think 'Ohana is a good breakfast- lilo/stitch and mickey- most preteen girls think Lilo and Stitch are cool and then you get your Mickey fix too.

Crystal Palace is all pooh and tends to draw the younger crowds, so not sure that is a good option.

Chef Mickey's might be fun for breakfast or dinner.

1900 park fare would be great for the preteen girls- i agree with the PP that the stepmothers would be a blast for them?

After waiting what seems like an eternity - I can finally say that we are going!!!!!
Oct. 7-14th 2011 is my and my families 1st trip to the World and first family vacation ever! Whaaa Hoooo.
Renting points for OKW.
I have most of my ADR set - Just a few decisions to make. To hop or not to hop, MNSSHP, and just a couple decisions with ADRs.
I've been a bit obsessive the last week planning this. This board is a great help, but my house is suffering terribly!

from what i hear the halloween party is a must ! enjoy your planning, I'm kinda done now and sad about it , I liked being all stressed out and researching things, now I am kinda twiddling my thumbs ho hum

All-
First of all, thank you for all the useful information. So thankful you take the time to share your experiences and knowledge!

We'll be joining you October 15-October 22 (in parks 10/16-10/21). We're planning to stay at Bonnet Creek as we need two rooms, but willing to consider on property if rates come down.

This is my and my family's very first trip to WDW - hooray! We have me, DH, DS (8), DD (5), DD (six months, 1 at time of trip), and nanny to help out with the baby.

As I look at all the trip planning advice, those afternoon breaks/naps seem pretty important for families with kids this young. So need the wise folks here to help me choose when to scheudle my DS for Pirate's League.

Planning two of our days for MK:

MK first day: (Monday)
Arrive at rope drop
Lunch 11:20 Chef Mickey's
Nap after lunch until early evening
Return evening for Wishes Dessert Party (?)

MK second day: (Wednesday)
Cinderella's Royal Table 8:10
Tour in the morning, lunch flexible
Afternoon nap
Optional return evening, or park hop

Given this, when would you schedule DS for Pirate's League?
- Before lunch day one?
- Bring him back early afternoon Day one while others continue to nap?
- Later morning Day two?
- Late afternoon Day two?

On one hand, I'm a little hesitant to commit to a return to the park because I just don't know how the kids will be doing by then. Then again, DS is older and always a trooper and won't require a nap, so we could divide and conquer. One of us could bring him back and the others could join us a bit later. Seems like part of the fun is walking around the parks as a pirate, so I'm trying to find a time when we'll still be in the park a bit afterward.

Thanks for your patience with an over-planning mom! (Also posted this question on the Pirate's League thread, so forgive me if you happen to see it twice).

I wrote a very long time ago that I was dreaming about WDW in Oct and DH just could not justify it. While I think the idea might be growing on him since he asked me today why I really wanted to go that was an easy question it's DISNEY.:rotfl2: Now I just have the wait and see game but I am going to start do some series planning. Love planning trips :surfweb:

Dates aren't a forsure yet we are either thinking Oct 19 - 26 or Oct 26 - Nov 2.

I am so excited I can't stop smiling.:):):):).

I'd say do it MK day 2) after your breakfast so he can tour w/ the face make-up on.

My DS did it last Nov. and he was concerned about doing it before eating at the park so we scheduled in afternoon, but then we only did one more thing in park and took our resort break he wanted to go swimming so hardly any pix of him in the make-up...next time I'd book morning!

I know exactly what you mean... it is sad to see all of the planning coming to an end (for now)! Luckily I am also planning our wedding (we are getting married 1 day before Disney) so I have that to look forward too... you can tell my priorities are all wrong. Disney planning first, then wedding, haha.

Thank you all for the help with dining events, I am going to take a look at them now!

So far the only ADR's I have are San Angel in and Sanaa... The FDH (Future dear husband) told me if we don't eat by the boat ride in the mexican part of epcot the trip will be a disappointment, haha. Ugh... men (haha)! Anyway, I need to figure some more out before everything is booked.

Thank you all for the help!

It's looking better and better for a trip in October been doing some resies this morning and I would love all your opions on the different Steak houses. I am not a steak expert but I do love a good steak. I have resies for the Yacht club but wondering if there is a better place inside a park. Pretty open to which park just hate leaving to eat. But I love to eat.:lmao:

Congrates on getting married! We are going to be in WDW from Oct 19 to Oct 25 and I can tell you as of now according to TP the crowd levels look great for that time all 1's one 2 and one day is a 5, hopeing the weather is just as good.

I had to laugh about your BF wanting to eat at San Angel, I have wanted to eat there since our first trip in '89 but for one reason or another we just never made it , but I have an ADR for there this trip.
Saana is on my wish list but I can't fit it in this trip hmm unless

Anyway I think WDW is the best place to honeymoon!

That's fantastic news!! I can't imagine the variables are going to be much different for my dates (14-22). That may mean the Halloween parties for that time frame will be in the 1< range. Super cool!!!

I got a Beirgarden ADR!! 5:20 on the 17th (Mon). In the policy section, it said that a credit card was requied for reservation and that if I was a no-show or cancelled less than 24 hours we'ld be charged for one buffet for each person. But, it didn't ask me for a card number. I was thinking that we'ld play it by ear. If we felt that we were going to eat enough snacks from the F&W we'ld cancel the ADR. If not, we'ld have a place to eat and not have to chance a walk up. So, can anyone clarify? I may cancel the ADR now just so I don't have a looming charge over my head (maybe they used the card I used to book my vacation).

I tend to think that is a misprint about the cc for Biergarten. I did mine online and the CM went thru and read every policy for each place I booked an ADR and the only one I had to leave a cc for was Akershus and she did take all the info then and there from me.

whichever day you choose, i would do the morning. i know many people say not to if you plan on taking a break, but i want to get the most out of it and let him enjoy 'being seen' wearing his pirate gear. So we booked for an 11am on a MK EMH day. That will give us plenty of time to play in the parks for 3 hours before his appt. and a little after. Then we will take our break (nap for him) and head back to Epcot that night, where he can show off his makeup again (if too much doesn't rub off at nap). If you plan to swim or anything, then you would want to do it later after swimming. AND if you don't plan on going to another park, i would do it on a day you know he can 'get the most' out of wearing all day long and really enjoy it and get the extra 'attention'.

yeah! great news! I have heard rave reviews for Yachtsman, but yet to try it. JIKO is on my list too for their filet! I've done Le Cellier and Cali Grill and both are good. I actually really love CG. I've had their filet many times.

that is strange, BG should not require a CC that i am aware of. maybe just a glitch?

Today is our 180th day and I needed to make only one reservation. I was at work all night, I work midnights, but thankfully have access to the internet from there. At six o'clock instead of logging on to make my ressie, I was glued to the Royal Wedding!! I kept looking at the clock thinking, I should be online right now, I'm not gonna get the time I want!! I ran back upstairs and logged on and looked to see what was left....I got almost the exact time I wanted!!! YAY!!!!! O'hana at 7:50...with the hopes of getting to see Wishes from there at 9...if we are nice they may give us a window table....please please, pretty please..HAHA!! If not, no worries, we really like the food there! At least they pipe the music in..:cloud9:
