So what is everyone doing from now until ADR time comes up to prepare for the trip. I read the disboards. DD and I read books on what to do, just for fun and helps her with her reading. I also pay weekly on the trip and going to have it paid off just in time to start booking my adr's.

How about everyone else?

I have been on the DISboards every day for about 3 weeks now. It's a bit obsessive, really! I have a list started for tips when I get there and what I'll be packing. I have started collecting things for my DD for the trip down and things for when we're there, like a Minnie hand held fan and light sticks. I go through food porn and reviews of the Poly, where we're staying. I really don't know how I'll make it through the next 8 months with my sanity!!! :scared1: Right now I'm trying to decide between CRT and Akershus. Most say Akershus and with a 3 year old that's what I'll probably do, but the castle is so special! :confused3

That's today's surf topic! Tomorrow will be different I'm sure!:)

I don't think we're going to do ADR's. My little Monkey (DS3) doesn't do very well in sit down resturants. We're going to stick with cs meals. We may do Reglan Road in DTD.

I vote Akershus!

That's our plan. We did QSDP last trip and it was SO relaxing!

Trying not to count days!!! :lmao: :guilty:

We are in the same boat as you. I have heard good things DH talked about it this weekend that if they are bad we will go back to Sept next year.

We went last year, the last week of October and we're going the same week this year. I have a friend that went the first week of Sept and did not enjoy the crowds or heat...

I vote for Akershus, especially breakfast with a 3 year old.

Thank you.

Booked our annual trip last week. Considered Nov but decided we like October better! Oct 8 - 12 Yacht Club. Planning on MNSSHP. Probably trying La Hacienda - it had just opened when we went last year so hard to get into.

Trying to plan right now based on last years hours (which were very similar to the year befores). We usually try a tour but not much left until my son turns 16/18 so may skip a tour for more pool time this trip.

I like knowing I am going and the excitement of getting that confirmation but the wait is sooooooooo long!!!

For our ADRs this year we plan on returning to some of our faves, in addition to trying a few new places too....

The Plaza
LeCellier
Tonys Town Square
Kona Cafe
Sci-Fi Dine In
Yak & Yeti

I have a tentative schedule already decided based on last years hours and Touring Plans Crowd Calendar - but as they say...it's subject to change!:crazy2:

OMG I never thought I'd be posting on an October 2011 thread!

DH, DD & I went on our 'every-other-year' Disney trip in October 2010 so we weren't planning on going back until October 2012. Well......my DMIL called us today and said "would you go to Disney World with me this year - my treat?". Uh, SURE!

I'm super excited but sad too. My DFIL passed away last month; 3 years after being diagnosed with lung cancer. My DILs were supposed to go back to WDW together but never made it back. My DMIL got the 40% PIN code and wanted to take advantage of it. She's getting a package - room @ Poly, tickets and dining! We just have to pay for airfare and bring spending money. And we'll use our Disney Rewards Dollars to supplement the dining plan (tips, etc).

So we will be at the Polynesian October 26-30.

Off to start planning!!!

:yay:

Congratulations! That is so sad about your DILs, but so exciting that your family will be able to spend this special time with your DMIL. And it will be nice for her to have you there, as I'm sure it will be a little hard for her w/memories of your DFIL.

HeyItsMe - I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL. It seems like he put up a heck of a fight, living 3 years with lung cancer. And I agree with pp, your MIL will probably get a lot out of this trip with you. It'll be good therapy for her. Have fun! :goodvibes

Well, we've decided to go with the majority and do Akershus for the princess breakfast. I have one open TS that I haven't planned for the week but I think unless something comes up that looks outstanding, we're going to keep it open for now and play it by ear when we get there. Anyone have recommendations for TS meals that are easy to get into as a walk-up or even making ressies while you're there? Keep in mind I have a 3yo. Since we're at the Poly I was thinking Kona since I've heard that's usually a good bet on getting a walk up table, but I was also planning it for breakfast our last day, so I'm not sure. :confused3

:yay::yay:

Everything's booked! Well, except ADR's. Booked our package on Friday and to my surprise, Airtran release their October flights yesterday so we've got those booked now too.

So excited! There's no turning back now!

I was on airtan yesterday and my dates still haven't been released but seeing their time they are flying will not help my family anyways

I am still waiting for Airtran to release OCt flight out of Pittsburgh. I keep checking everyday. I even called them and they told me they release schedules anywhere from 3 to 7 months ahead. :confused3 SO that didn't really help. Maybe they will be out tomorrow since it's the 1st.

I've been waiting for AirTran too! (From Milwaukee):surfweb:
By playing around on their website - it appears as though they have released their schedule only through Oct 15th. Bummer for me, since we depart Oct 22nd. If someone notices that the remainder of October is released, please let the rest of us know.....:chat:

Although we typically fly AirTran, Southwest now flys out of Milwaukee too. Not sure which one we'll choose at this point, but first the schedules and rates have to come out!:upsidedow

It looks like I'm a little late in joining in, but you can add me. We are going October 15-22, staying at All Star Movies. :cool1:

I have been planning this trip since Spring of 2010, but wanted to finalize everything and get it booked before I posted....didn't want to jinx myself! :scared1:

Next up....creating a Trip Report! I am soooooo excited! :bounce::bounce::bounce:

I need all of you October and MNSSHP veterans to help me out. $$ will be tight for us this trip (that's why I held out on posting until it was booked) and so I hadn't planned on doing MNSSHP. I have trouble justifying the expense for glorified trick-or-treating. I know there is so much more than the dressing up and the candy, but I guess I just have sticker shock: :eek: Is anyone else out there in the same boat as me or am I the minority? :confused3 For those that have done MNSSHP and continue to do it year after year, what makes it worth the $$ for your family?

Btw...the trip will be me, my boyfriend, my 4yo DS, my mother and my grandparents. It will be the 1st trip for my boyfriend and DS but the rest of us have all been multiple times, but never done MNSSHP. Any opinions/advice about MNSSHP would be GREATLY appreciated!

I am having a hard time justifying the expense for MNSSHP, BUT our kids will most likely miss our neighborhood trick or treat night. That makes me not care about the price as much.
I could see the fireworks from last years MNSSHP since we were at BLT and they looked so cool. So that will be fun to see! If they only threw in a free meal or snack besides candy at the MNSSHP I would have been all for it right away!

We are now going to be staying at the Beach Club from Oct 26-Nov 1

Hopeing for cooler weather than the end of September and we won't have to fight the crowds at opening weekend for the F&W now

I'm with you! Typically our trips have been during the last weeks of September - this is the first time since 2000 that we'll be there in late October. :woohoo:

Hoping for cooler temps and lower crowds in October.:worship:
September was always SOOO HOT and the crowds had been increasing each year - due to Free Dining, I think.
