Oh I need to get out of this grumpy mood -

DH informed me last night he doesn't want to do 2 parties or Sea World. I keep telling myself how lucky I am because I get to go to Disney and enjoy one party, but I just can't get over the disappointment. So as the the saying goes "I better just put on my big girl panties and get over it".

AW, that stinks! :headache: Didn't DH just suggest not long ago you might want to do 2 parties? I'd mope about a bit first and then get your big girl panties on.

yes he did suggest two parties, but then i think we looked at the price and went "why".

so glad to hear that everything at work has calmed down.

I am not a pedi girl - my feet are so ticklish I laugh so hard when anybody touches my feet. But this year I am going to one so I can wear sandles and polka dotted toes. DD wants one also might surprise her with one (she is only 6 but sometimes a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do).

Maddie had her first spa pedicure when she was 4. She was so cute, she had to stand in the water, she was too short to sit in the chair. I ended up holding her so she could do both. She has been hooked ever since.

This year we are going to have a Mickey head put on our big toe nails and then the polka dots on the rest of the toes. I hope the nail place knows how to do that.

Oooooo yeah, get a pedi needs to be added to my list for sure!!!

Things at work are better already. Had a meeting with the medical director and my manager and everything was a HUGE misunderstanding! Thank goodness!!!!!

Yay! It is always a relief to get something like that resolved.

I'm hesitant to take DD to get her nails done, even though she loves having them painted at home, because she still won't let me cut them, we have to file them. It wasn't a problem until she was about 1 1/2 or maybe almost 2 and then she started freaking out whenever we got the clippers out (I think it happened when DH cut her finger a bit once). I don't want to force her down and clip them because I don't want to scar her for life, so I've just been filing her nails. It works fine for now. I know she'll grow out of this eventually. So I have two trains of thought - either she'll let the pedicurist clip her nails and it won't be a big deal because it's an "event" or she'll freak out and the whole thing will be ruined and at that point she won't even let her nails be painted. I don't want to spend all that money just to have her nails painted, you know? So I might just do them myself so she can be like Mommy and she can get her first pedi next time we go. :confused3

My list isn't huge. Mani/pedis are on it for my DD and me, but I'm not going pokadot, I'm doing Halloween themed. I'm thinking orange tips with ghosts and pumpkins on the middle fingers and big toes. I also have to make carry on kits for my kids. I'm still up in the air about bringing the laptop, I may have to for school (online classes are awesome). Might as well us it for viewing entertainment while on the plane. Both of my kids have a hand held gaming system (one DS and one PSP). Those along with tootsi pops for landing and take off, color books and triangle shaped crayons (so they don't roll off), some fruit snacks and granola bars, and their swim suit and pjs (in case we don't get our lugage right away. DS3 will also be bringing Boo, his green build-a-bear. I read that there is now a build-a-bear store at MCO, we put off buying a captain hook outfit for Boo online because we could get it at the airport or DTD and not pay for shipping.

A lot of times the places I go to have a price for just getting nails painted. Maybe you can have her have that done and you do the prep for it? It's only $10 where I go.

I'd still mope. My head and heart don't often see eye to eye. :lmao:

same here - i have been told by many people that Jeff (DH) is the best husband around (yes I agree), but once he suggested maybe two parties my heart was set. My brain knows that it would be silly, but I am still keeping hope and maybe he will change his mind again.

Update to list of things to do besides pack:

Annual Passes - check, ordered this morning
MNSSHP - check, ordered this morning
order Photo Pass - check, ordered this morning
order specialty shirts - still need to do
purchase Tables in Wonderland - will do on arrival

You are ordering your photo pass before you go? Ididn't know you could do that. Could you please give me the info on that so i can too? :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about work, Tricia. Hope things are going better today.

Do you mean those oil sheets for your face? I got some of those a million years ago in Canada, but don't think I've noticed them here in the states? I'd love to get some. Those things were great. Where do you get them?

Not much left for me to do. Everything is paid for, ADRs set, etc. I do need to write out a grocery list and make up a list of which CS meals I won't to try. I'm hoping to get to a bunch of places I've never tried before. Shouldn't be too hard, since I ate at primarily TS meals my last trip. :)

For those of you flying with kids.. care to share what you are putting together to keep them occupied? The last few years when we've vacationed, we drove. So this is almost going to be like a first flying trip for my 2 youngest (they were infant and 2 the last time we flew back east). I have 4 kids (4.5, 6, 8 and almost 10). I picked up some little Phineas & Ferb activity packs at the Target dollar spot. We have 1 Nintendo DS that I *might* take. Not sure if that'll cause more fighting than it's worth? Might bring one of the laptops for a movie? We all have iPods so we'll bring those. Other than that...?? This is a surprise trip for them, so I can't ask them what they'd like to bring along.

Hi Mom2,

Avon sells great oil absorbing sheets ( i think it's a Mark product ) i buy them all the time. I do see them from time to time in Sephora, not sure what branch they are though. As for the kids, i have 2 kids, 8 and 10 yo. We load a new movie on the ipod, my 10 yo loves to read so we buy a new book and i usually bring 6-8 mad libs, i think i saw a Phinneas and Ferb version at the store. I also bring some snacks, the kids are always worried they will starve. And a Xanax for me :yay: Enjoy your trip!

I think I finally have the kids shoe situation under control!

Things to do:
Pack
Order MNSSHP tickets
Pay for taxes and fees for the car rental when we get to Tampa
Finish party costumes
Buy oil absorbing sheets and blister stick
Think of how to surprise kids with trip :cheer2:
Buy and Laminate LG Mickey heads from Home Depot
Order the Cake :woohoo:
Make MNSSHP invites and "tickets" for the kids
Work on grocery list for when we stop

Funny you mention "kids shoe situation" - that's exactly what I am dealing with these days!!!:sad2: The only thing they wear all summer is Crocs and that's pretty much all they need for Disney too. But school starts in 1 week and they definitely need more than Crocs!!!:teacher:

When and where are you getting a cake? We ordered one 2 years ago for my birthday dinner at Narcoossees - it was okay. It was kinda pricey and we were so full from dinner that we barely touched it.

Everyone's lists look good!

For those of you flying with kids.. care to share what you are putting together to keep them occupied?

iPods for music and/or iPod Touch for games
Snacks - including Blow Pops for take-off and landing
Small handheld games (such as 20Q, Tetris, Sudoku)
Magazines
Deck of cards

I am so glad you mentioned those oil blotters. I didn't even realize you could get them in the US. What brand do you use? The Clean & Clear brand seems to get good reviews on Amazon.

Ok - I've never heard of these things...Tell me about them!

I have 4 pages of lists so this is an extremely condensed version. DH decided to wear a tshirt for the party that says "GO CEILINGS!" on it (get it? He's a ceiling fan! :rotfl: Cracks me up every time!)

That's hilarious! Sounds like something my DH would wear! :lmao:

I think you can get an adapter that allows 3 headsets to be plugged into one port. You can probably find that on Amazon.
Yes - We just bought one of these from WalMart!

We got the older 2 Keens that were a very good deal, but I can't find any for the younger one that isn't an outrageous price :sad2: Then I ordered her a pair of Crocs sandals from Amazon and they are just a little too big. I'm not sure if they will work or not.

We'd like to either order one from AK and have it delivered to our room or get one delivered to Crystal Palace from the Contemporary bakery for our first day. We aren't having the dining plan, so we can use it to supplement breakfasts :lmao: It is vacation after all!

You just use them to blot the oil off your face so you don't look all shiny. I'm fair skinned and get red easy which is even worse when I'm shiny :headache:

We are still trying to decide about handheld fans, too. I should check some camping sections this weekend!

OOh, good idea! :thumbsup2 I need to look into that! She would LOVE it! We leave on a Sunday so we could spend Saturday getting ready!

You can preorder a photopass CD here...

http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitoffer.aspx

You save $50 by doing this, and if for some reason you decided not to order it after the trip you can get a 100% refund. Preordering is definitely the best way to go!:thumbsup2

Hey Smitch - I wanted to say I saw your poem on the thread about the woman who gave her sister the trip to Disney for her 15th anniversary and it was great! I didn't post on that one because, well, I just don't need any more reminders (), but between the costumes and the poem - you are awfully creative! Are you a Pisces, Cancer or Scorpio? :rotfl: (emotionally unstable and dependent Pisces myself! :lmao:)

Here's how you can think about it......
Go to the first party and have a GREAT time!! SUCH a great time that EVERYONE comments how fun it would be to come again! Your DH will surely "melt" once he sees how much fun his Family is having. So then when you are standing there in his arms watching Wishes, bring up the subject of a 2nd party and at that moment he is sure to give in!;)

Thank you! I literally wrote that poem in about 45 seconds. I was honored that she used some of my lines!
I am a Taurus. I have no idea about zodiac stuff, so I googled it and here is what I found (the red ones are me, the rest not so much, but perhaps occasionally)...

The Taurus personality is one of the most easily recognizable of the zodiac. These are steady, reliable people who only rarely get frazzled or upset. Like a bull, the Taurus personality will almost never lose course and will remain level no matter what chaos surrounds him. Taurus knows his own strength but usually handles situations with dignity and self-control. Push him too far, though, and the Taurus individual can suddenly turn into a raging bull, and once this happens, he will be difficult to calm. And oh yes, lest we forget, the Taurus individual is stubborn - the most stubborn of all the zodiac signs. Once he forms an opinion, he is immovable, and nothing will change his mind. Taurus likes the good life, but tends to be careful with money, slowly building up wealth as (s)he goes. Not all Taureans are rich, but you won't find many at the very bottom of society. :rotfl:

Can you tell I don't feel like working today??

For those wondering, here are some E.L.F. blotting sheets that you can check out. http://www.drugstore.com/e-l-f-professional-shine-eraser-blotting-sheets/qxp156867?fromsrch=blotting+sheets You can find them in the beauty section of most major stores.

I want to get the Yes to Carrots facial wipes. I think it's the Yes to Blueberries makeup remover wipes by Yes to Carrots, but I've heard great things about them and at the end of the day at Disney, I just want easy to get my makeup and sunscreen off and get ready for bed. I've also been looking at Burt's Bees peppermint foot cream for the end of each day. I've heard rave reviews about that one!

Anyone else have any tricks of the trade you can't do without? For me personally it's curly hair gel and clippies. My hair is naturally wavy and there is no chance of straightening it in FL, so I get some Aussie Catch the Wave and clips to hold my bangs back and I go. I'm hoping my hair will be long enough to pull my hair back by then, but my hairdresser cut my layers pretty short last time and I hate putting 15 clips in my hair to hold it back. And for some reason headbands just roll off my head! :rotfl:
