OFFICIAL October 2009 thread - LET US KNOW YOUR PTR LINK!

I'm 4 days out and STILL can't decide which bags to use! I don't want to pay the return bag fee with United, so I am considering carry-ons. Both of us with a regular backpack and maybe 2 more backpacks with wheels. :confused3 I don't travel much so I don't know if this is just more trouble than it's worth. Maybe I should just pack the duffle on wheels and not worry about it.

I have shirts almost made, so there will be one shirt per day and 2 pairs of shorts each. (probably could get by with one, but hate to chance it)

Any suggestions? What type of carryon bags do you use?

DD has been driving me crazy today...she is trying to make plans for this weekend. There's a concert she HAS to go to and a school function. I can't tell her why she can't, but she isn't too happy with me for implying she won't be able to. She also keeps seeing "signs" that she will be going to France. (she got a fortune cookie that said "your feet will land in many foreign lands") She heard some French today and saw a shirt with a French phrase on it. She is convinced they are all "signs" she is going to France. :rotfl: I finally told her that I am pretty sure that sometime in her life she will step foot in France. :rotfl2: Little does she know....

Ok the obsessive weather checking is seriously a problem haha every day i check accuweather for the 15 day forecast. So far, seems highs are in low 80s and lows in high 60s, and that sounds really nice to me!!! Just a mention of a shower here and there but otherwise sunny... let's hope that remains the same the closer we get!!

I'm addicted to checking this thread and the weather. Pretty sad, I know. My weather looks like it did last year....sunny, party cloudly, and/or thunderstorms. Oh well. I have ponchos and no matter how bad it gets....I'll still be at Disney!

I worked on pulling bags out of the attic today while DD slept. I'm leaning towards 2 backpacks & a backpack on wheels, plus a tote backed for the return trip home. I just don't know if it will all fit. In my head there doesn't seem to be "that" much stuff, but I know it will multiply as I start pulling it out tomorrow.

I find myself getting close to slipping up around DD now that the trip is so close. Actually, my stomach is in knots since I am SO excited right now. I stayed up til 1:00am printing out final papers and touring plans. I'll be cutting them down tonight and trying to finish one of my shirts once she is in bed. Nothing like leaving it til the last minute.

I have so wanted to keep up with this thread. Between school and work, both full time....i have had to set my priorities different. I am 1 week out.....i fly out next Sunday at 4 PM. I am so ready. I had a friend ask me if i was excited. i told her on and off. I get to thinking about my trip and get all excited and then remember i still have one more week of work left..:confused3

We are here now and it is HOT. and HUMID. Hope that helps in your weather obsession, ladies! ;)

Oh joy! Hey, it's still Disney though! Hope you are enjoying your trip!

I just checked and I now am showing only 2 days with 30% chances of rain.

Obessive weather checking: So far only 2 full days appearing on the 15-day forecast...

Saturday, Oct 17 A shower in the afternoon Low: 69 °F High: 83 °F
Sunday, Oct 18 A shower in the morning Low: 68 °F High: 85 °F

Looks pretty good!

TiggerAllie, it does look great! we are there 15th-19th and so far 15th and 16th are clear and sunny, same temps. I can deal with a couple of showers!

I think the weather is practically perfect, at time is a little humid but there has been a nice breeze and crowds haven't been to bad either!

We are now 17 days away from my big surprise trip for DH's 60th and DGD's 6th. they both celebrate birthdays Halloween week. I have paid for the trip in full and did not purchase travel insurance.
DH got hurt at work two weeks ago and his company put off his MRI for so long that he now told them :rolleyes1to cut him loose and has switched to disability and his going to seek medical attention thru our private health insurance carrier. TODAY! so he can go where he wants. Meanwhile, wasting the last two weeks.

The injury is in his hip area and he is having much difficulty walking. HERE'S WHERE YOU COME IN.... I need lots of prayers and/or some suggestions about this. He only knew we were going away for his birthday as he put in for vacation months ago. Since then I have purchased MNSSHP tickets for the family, upgraded the dining plan, and even paid to surprise him with the Magic Kingdom private tour. What to do? I called Disney and they will work with me whatever I decide. My problem is this --- DD feels that DGD should still go. Oh, yeah, I would stay home with DH for his birthday!
I am still hanging on to the hope that he will feel a bit better in two weeks and we will still go. Sorry to put a cloud on our October thread but I really feel alone and torn about this. Just need to vent. Thanks for listening.

Nonnasally, there's always the possibility of him using a wheelchair while he's at the parks, if you think he'd be up for it. You can still have a magical vacation even so, trust me I've been with my friends Mom who was in a wheelchair at that time and if anything it was even MORE magical because of how wonderful the CMs are to those with disabilities.... but i guess in the end you'll have to see how he's feeling 2 weeks from now and that'll really be the deciding factor. Don't fret just yet! Take it one day at a time!

Thanks so much for your reply. It feels so nice to know someone is out there to listen. Can't tell many people in family because I guess I come across as selfish! Guess I am just frustrated in general that my fabulous plans are not working out. Yes, I will not worry yet. I know it is out of my hands and that I have to give it over to the Lord. Its just I am so darn mad! Thanks again for listening. I will keep you posted.

Please do keep us posted!! It's not selfish its understandable, you just spent all this money on a trip and you want to go! Hopefully you'll be able to do just that.

10 DAYS UNTIL MY WDW VACATION!!!

:cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:  :cheer2:

we are almost single digits :) :cool1::cool1::cool1:

nonnasally,

I understand completely! I have had my trip booked since the last one last year in October. DD is a competitive dancer and now has tendonitis in both knees. She has been doing physical therapy for a few months, but this past week, both knees swelled and she has been complaining more about the pain. She goes in tomorrow to see the dr and I expect him to say no dance or PE for at least a month. We leave the next day.

On top of that, I am battling planter fasciitis in my right foot. I also have been in physical therapy and my heel has been getting better until the last week.

I have all of these plans in place and now wonder just how much we will be able to do. I do have insurance, but the thought of canceling is worse than the thought of just doing less.

I would take it day by day. If you DH is up for it, I'd take him. You can also rent a scooter if that would help him. Be sure to check out the disabilities thread here on the DISboards. There are a lot of people who can offer advice and support.

Hang in there. You are not being selfish. Hopefully, your plans will work out.
