***Official November 2016 Thread***

I'm totally stalking each day ADR wise as it opens up (since I can't do mine for another 9 days) just to see what's available after the morning rush. I think I'm going crazy...

Me, too! Hahaha!! This morning looked good for what I hope to get in 6 days!

It'd be nice if they closed, but with all the mandated number of hours and days that schools must be in session, that would mean kids would probably need to stay in school for longer in June. As it is, the kids don't get enough days off here (in my opinion). They get Labor Day, 1 day off in Oct for conferences, 3 days for Thanksgiving, 1 week for Christmas/New Year's, 1 week for spring break, and then Memorial Day. No Veteran's Day, MLK Day, or President's Day. I kind of wish they'd abolish spring break and give the kids more day off during the school year to help break it up a bit.
My son attends a private school- he gets 3 days off for Spring Break lol. They definitely do not close for Election Day.

The discussion about how many days kids are off of school made me wonder how many days (if any) everyone takes their kids out of school to go to Disney?

My kids are in 6th, 2nd, and Kindergarten and this year they missed 3 days in late September. Next year (7th, 3rd, and 1st), they'll also miss three days in November to go to Disney.

(We also took them out for 3 days to visit Washington DC.)
My son (kindergarten) missed 9 school days for our September 2015 2 week vacay.
He will miss 9 again for a 2 week land/sea combo in 1st grade Nov/ December '16.

wahoo! we'll be in the world from nov. 12-22. doing a split stay: 1 night at AKL, 2 nights at Swan (for the last two days of F&W) and then 7 nights at CSR (with free dining!). Can't wait!! :rainbow::santa::banana::banana::banana:

I can't remember if I posted here before, but we will be there during Thanksgiving week, from 11/21 to 11/25 and we're staying at AKL with rented DVC points. We spent Thanksgiving there 2 years ago, it was our first trip and we loved it. Yes, it was busy, but maybe we had really low expectations, so we did not mind it at all. Plus the lines at Disney always seem to move really fast! I'm hoping to get ADR at Boma for Thanksgiving dinner, the rest of our ADR's are stil up in the air. Do I have to link tickets before I can reserve Fast Pass or is my hotel reservation enough?
Hello! I love AKL and I'm jealous you're staying there lol. We also rented points but couldn't get in there, so we're trying BCV (new to us) for the beginning of our trip and then moving to Coronado. Going from deluxe to a mod isn't ideal but we love Coronado so we're ok with it :thumbsup2
Not sure if your question was answered elsewhere but yes, you do need to have tickets linked in your MDE account before you can make any FP's :)

I keep hearing people mention renting points on dvc. Is it cheaper to go this route? Also how do you rent the points?

Yep, me too. I'm trying to decide which reservations to pick first, so I've been watching how things fill up each morning. So glad I'm not the only one...
I have just starting checking but I will have to start checking in the morning to get more of an accurate idea.:) I still haven't seen later than 3:30 for Minnies seasonal dine at H&V with Fantasmic. Are there later times if you check in the morning?

I recently saw a 4:10pm for one day at the end of October, but I can't remember which day it was. I sure hope I can get something closer to 5 when the time comes.

Me too! I was just checking T-Rex because my son wants that one on our day off and the days I checked the latest they had was in the 3:00 range too! I wouldn't think that would book up so fast! BOG still had a couple pre park opening breakfasts and lunches the days I checked and I thought they would be harder to book. I guess I better check every morning to get a better idea of what books up the fastest because I was off on those 2!:scared:

We have booked a split stay Nov.1-9 and I am so thrilled! We are trying a value resort for the first time: AllStar Music for 3 days, then to ST. Augustine for a night and back to POFQ for the remainder of our trip. Last year we stayed ATCSR in November and had beautiful warm, dry weather. Hoping for the same this year!

I'm starting to panic now, with everyone talking about adr's. It's my first time. I had a brief look last night and my iPad or the MDE site just kept loading with nothing happening. That's after I chose a time and amount of people.

Tonight I will have a look on the laptop as I know that can make a difference....hope I'm right . I can see that I'm going to have problems :guilty:

I have a list of places I wish to make a reservation and have prioritised them as to which I should book first but still feel totally unprepared.

I was never able to find an open TREX slot on MDE. But a friend of mine told me to call, (said Disney only has a certain number allocated), so I called T Rex directly and got a reservation that way.

At most of the restaurants in Disney Springs it's easier to get a reservation either by calling directly or using Open Table. Plus, you aren't subject to Disney's cancellation fee that way!

Thank-you I forgot you could call T Rex directly, that might be easier!:)

Yes, for the most part it's cheaper. For instance last Nov. we stayed in a studio at BWV for 8 nights for $1600. It would have been just over double that if we went through Disney. This year we're staying our first 4 nights at BCV for about $200 a night (studio) when it's about $400 through Disney.
There are a couple ways to rent: you can use a 3rd party sight, and I'm not sure I can post those websites on here. Do you belong to any of the Nov. Disney FB groups? There's also a thread on the boards here under DVC Forums where you can rent points from DVC members. When they aren't going to use their points they'll rent them out to others. There are some pros and cons but we've found the pros outweigh the cons.

From your ticker it looks like you go a week before us, so you're there during FD correct? It may be a little difficult to get what you want so I would have some back-up choices, but if you are on right at 6am your chances should be pretty good :) In all my trips I never booked my ADR's right at 6am at 180 days until last year because it was our first time going during FD and it was a little crazy lol, but I still managed to get everything we wanted. As far as the website working for you when the time comes, you really just have to cross your fingers!!

I had a hard time getting trex on thanksgiving week in 2014 but I had finally gotten one. I was a little irritated that people were going up to the podium and they were getting in as well without a reservation.

That's great to know. I will definitely have to look into this for next years trip. Too bad that you do not get free dining if you use dvc. I keep telling Disney that if they make a dvc property at Coronado I would buy one but I don't think they have any plans to do the moderate hotels.
