***Official November 2013***

But, no big deal. The price of the AutoTrain for all five of us (coach seats) and our car round trip was $1,050. Plus, I had a $200 credit for when Amtrak had a train break down on the way to DC and we were sitting on the rails for 4.5 hours. :scared1:  Yip, not fun at all.....especially when it was a trip to the Air & Space Museum for my son's birthday. So, I paid $850 for a round trip and I'm excited because it's a new adventure.

.

Oh that isn't bad at all, I thought the auto train would cost more. We will definitely look into it next time.

We got pretty much the same. $1244 for the 5 of us (inlaws paid separately) on JetBlue out of Newark. That includes one checked bag each, assigned seating and all taxes and fees, so I guess that is a good price. Can you fly direct out of Trenton to MCO? I'm so programmed to think of only Newark, Philly, JFK and LaGuardia - I need to widen my searches next time!

Yes, Trenton, Frontier Airlines, flies direct to Orlando. It would have been nice to avoid the Philly airport but not worth $500 a ticket. I still can't believe they were the cheapest to start with and then increased so much.

What about a spa treatment at one of the resorts?
I also read about a Tea Party at the Grand Floridian that sounds really nice.
Are you doing Photopass! Maybe getting the package so you have lots of great pictures of all of you together and you could get a photo book made up for her after the trip.

If you are a member, or willing to sign up, Groupon generally has a variety of photobook website options at great rates. A picture of your mom getting her face painted with the kids, or the whole family posing with Disney characters, would be priceless for many years to come. Books make great mementos and 'family heirlooms.'

I hope you (ammag) do get a chance to take your mom to EPCOT. Not only can you catch the last day of the F&W Festival, but there are all sorts of fun (and free) shows to watch! Matsuriza in Japan is one of my all time favorites!

Oh you just gave me an idea for my own trip.
Make sure someone (friend or hubby or CM) takes a picture of me in each country and make a book of me being a world traveler. :lmao:
That is about as "worldly" as I'm interested at this point. But how fun that would be to take pictures of her with all of you in each country.

You will come up with something great I'm sure.

I'm in my room packing for a 2 day get away on the East Coast of MA,NH and ME and all I can think about is "Should I pack this for Disney?" argh!

For many reasons I don't want to rush the next two months, but wish my trip was here.

Oh well I'm sure my two days will be fun. Going to see "CATS" and spend some times sight seeing in an area we have never been to. It will be fun.

78 days to go!

Another vote for doing a photo book for your mom!! There are lots of options out there to have one made. I just made little books with pictures from our visits with my mom and each of DH's parents this summer. They were under $20 each from Snapfish. I am sending them as Grandparents Day presents.

You could have pictures printed yourself, and even have your DD help make a scrapbook for your mom and your family! Include things like tickets, guidebooks/maps, and even napkins or anything with Disney logos. I've saved the coloring pages my kids did at restaurants, things from the Epcot kidcot stops and the AK discovery activities, and all sorts of other "memories." They are priceless!

FYI November dessert party days are open for ADR!!!!!
Good luck!

I booked ours the other night for 11/12 party of 2!!

Question though? It says my reservation is for 8:15....but do I still arrive at 8pm....or earlier? This is our first time attending the Dessert Party!!!

Subbing. We'll be there 11/23-11/30 at SSR. So excited, will be our first time at Thanksgiving. We are going to try Mickey's Thanksgiving Feast at Ft. Wilderness on Thanksgiving day. Anyone have experience with that? Got the Wishes Dessert Party booked... Yay!!

The party would begin at 8 if Wishes begin at 9. They have opened up 10-15 minutes early on occasion. All are welcome to arrive at opening, despite what the reservation time is.

The time is to help with seating and serving. Its like any ADR , arrive for the time you booked or they may make you wait.

The photo book is right up her alley, I am kind of hoping she will break out of her shell at Disney and let loose a bit! She would never do a face paint and says she won't go on many rides. I wish she would celebrate her cancer but I think even having a dessert delivered or having a Cm wish her well would embarrass her. We never got ot that stage of I beat this now I am am going to conquer the world! Lol.

I have never had Cancer but lost my mother to Lung Cancer. Even when things looked good during her journey she said "but I will always look over my shoulder worried it's coming back and will beat me next time."
So I'm sure that might be part of her fear to say she beat it.

They have a generic button that I wore when I went to Disney with my elder friend/adopted Mom. I met her after my mother died and mentioned I wish I would have been able to make a trip with my mother. So she said "well I don't have a daughter so take me for my 79th birthday" so I did.
She wore the birthday button and I wore the "I'm celebrating" button that I wrote "LIFE" under the "I'm celebrating". I had a few CMs ask me what I was celebrating and I kept it simple and said life.
Maybe you could wear one that says "I'm celebrating the love of my mother" and let people see how proud you are of her without having to tell her story.

My husband and I don't like people making a big scene over us. We especially don't like the birthday clapping in restaurants. So I can understand your mother not wanting to draw attention to herself.
Maybe you could wear "Celebrating FAMILY time".

Disney is Magical and you just don't know what will come of your vacation.
Don't worry if she doesn't want to go on the rides, there is so much people watching she can do while waiting for you. She just wants to spend time with you and watch your children smile and be happy. Get pictures of that. Make the focus be on the kids, and you, but squeeze her into the picture.
They will be priceless to both of you for many many years!

Go and enjoy. I'm sure for her it's just being with you all that is her celebration. Be ok with that and let the magic just happen.

Wishing you pixiedust: and lots of magical experiences.

It would only be cheaper if you through ebates as they will send you a check for 10% of your purchase. Otherwise, UT is better for you through mousesaver newsletter link if you don't care for the extra WPF&M option. UT will send you the actual tickets so you don't have to be troubled with exchanging vouchers.

For us we will get 130+ rebates so I'm ok with the hassle of exchanging voucher and not having able to book FP+ in advance.

I just sent you a pm. I have a question I need help with :)

I may have to steal this idea.

I'll make sure I add you to the first post. I know I have a few to update and I promise I'll get to them....I had a slight set back and am typing impaired right now. I was installing my new kitchen sink today and cut my finger on the drain section.....man, that was razor-sharp! So, I ended up with stitches and only part of the project done. Hoping to complete it once the pain ebbs a little.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend!
