It seems to be many complaints about the limited amounts of food for kids with the Disney Dining plan. I would like to start a thread that list non-traditional (burgers, chicken fingers, mac n cheese) meals that Disney offers. Like which restaurant has pizza, which has sandwiches, which has pastas, etc.

Any photos are appreciated.

Animal Kingdom - Flame Tree. There is a baked chicken leg option with 2 sides. NO fries (which in my opinion is good my DD9 will get plenty of junk food during this vacation) so fruit is a great option.

Add your kid meal that is available with the Dining deal. Don't forget to add if its a Counter Service or Table Service credit.

Thanks -

Below is a list of the table service restaurants which are not buffets, and the available non-traditional children items at each. I defined traditional as:

1. Any type of pasta with tomato, tomato meat or cheddar cheese sauce
2. cheeseburgers
3. hot dogs
4. pizza
5. Chicken Fingers or Nuggets
6. Grilled Cheese

or Appetizers
1. Chicken Noodle Soup
2. Celery and Carrot Sticks
3. Apple Slices
4. Garden Salad

In doing so I erred on the side of traditional (ie. penne with cheese sauce and Pita pizzas are not on here). I figured that the items above are readily available at counter service locations, and the kids are at TS for a reason.

In doing this analysis, I found that the biggest problems are at the cheaper table service options at the resorts. If you eat dinner in the signature resort restaurants or in the parks, you should be fine with an adventurous kid.

Some additions to the Epcot list:

Rose & Crown is one of the better kids' menus - fish & chips, bangers & mash and the shepherd's pie are all on the kids menu.

Teppan Edo has kids teppanyaki meals. The options are limited - chicken, shrimp, or veggie (no beef option) but still non-traditional and in keeping with the adult options.

Tokyo Dining has kids' tempura and teriyaki choices.

Via Napoli has a ham & cheese calzone and a child's portion of their margherita pizza that is much better than typical Disney pizzas.

Not entirely non-traditional but worth noting - the spaghetti & meatballs at Tutto Italia are real spaghetti & meatballs, MUCH better than the kids pasta option at the non-Italian restaurants. They also have a kids' appetizer salad that sounds very good but wasn't on the menu when we ate there (years ago).

La Hacienda has a typical Mexican restaurant kids' menu - beef or chicken tacos, nachos - with only one token typical choice (chicken strips) for pickier eaters. My girls really liked the churros for dessert too.

At the resorts:

Spoodles is gone but Kouzzina has their Greek lasagna on the kids menu.

The Wave has linguini and chicken quesadilla, and they serve sweet potato fries with their more typical options.

Maya Grill has several unusual options, from mozzarella sticks & nachos appetizers to beef tips and chicken parm entrees, but is a bit off the beaten path unless you're staying at CSR or have a car.

And the signature restaurants have all around better kids options. The meals still look simple on paper - mac & cheese at Jiko, grilled chicken breast at California Grill, fried shrimp at Citricos - but they are better prepared, well-seasoned, higher quality (house-made mac & cheese, grilled cheese on multigrain bread), and come with real sides like a steamed veggie and a potato. The desserts at the sigs are also much more interesting: fondue, smores, rice crispy sushi.

Sorry I can't be as much help with counter service. We've been on the deluxe plan for our last three trips so we don't eat much of it, and when we do it tends to be sharing one or two adult plates between the 5 of us as a light meal between TS reservations.

Epcot: Sunshine Seasons Food court (CS):

-The Grill has a roasted chicken leg with mashed potatoes.
-The Asian section has a sweet and sour chicken dish.
-The Sandwich area has a "make your own mini sub" meal. They are given all the separate components and literally get to build the sandwich themselves (kind of like a lunchable-type meal, but fresher). This is the one meal where my older child always wants to get the kids' meal, lol.
