Official NASHVILLE Discussion Thread

I saw the pilot, not last night's episode yet (it's on the DVR).

Here is what I know for a fact: Rayna is LOOSELY based on a combination of Reba McEntire and Faith Hill.

I don't know about Juliette but my personal take is she is a combo of Taylor Swift and Mindy McCready, lol.

Many parts of the show were very realistic. And others...not so much. The whole Bluebird being empty so someone can just walk in mid-show to check out an act...LMAO! Not likely. Also Rayna and her guitarist walking across the Shelby Street bridge chit-chatting...again not likely. I have lived in Nashville my whole life and I have never seen a huge country star casually walking about downtown. In the suburbs, yes, but never down in the thick of the tourist areas.

I really don't like country music but it's fun for me to see so many places I know so well. Plus my best friend is a songwriter and has been in the biz for years so I love getting her take on everything. :goodvibes According to her some of the story lines are completely realistic in this industry, others...well, I have to remember this is basically a soap opera!

Finally...I CANNOT STAND those fake twangy southern accents those 2 young kids do. Connie Britton has the PERFECT Nashville old-money accent down pat. Those other 2....I cringe to think people imagine we talk like that. But I do want the show to succeed. Number one it would be great business-wise for my town. Also my friend's aunt created this show, is the main writer and is exec. producer...for their sake I would love for it to be a huge success.

Hayden Panettiere said that her character was not Taylor Swift based, she actually said Carrie Underwood.

Reba & Faith make perfect sense for Rayna.

I think everyone realizes that this is a show and not an actual documentary on Nashville hence the accents won't be exact...I think they are just part of the show and certainly don't think all of Nashville speaks like Scarlet (Clare Bowen from Australia) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio from the UK).

I have one DD that lives in Nashvile (recent transplant) and another who has visited several times and they both love it there!! Hope to get out there soon myself to visit DD!!!

We also hope the series does well.

Liking it so far tonight....heard Hayden's song "Telescope" on Sirius radio on "The Highway" country station today!!

Boy, Rayna sure does not like her daddy.

OMG..such a good episode. What is with Juliette shoplifting????? Act of defiance for being rejected by Deacon? Frustration from having her mom at her house???

Once again, I *loved* last night's episode! The singing, the acting, the storyline - just all of it!

I can't wait to see what the fallout is going to be from the shoplifting next week. I think it was "I'm Juliette Barnes - I get what I want, no matter how I have to get it". That's what I got from it, anyhow.

And what about Rayna's little girls singing?!? WOW!

They were amazing. That was Juliette's song and they were so much better than the pop-ified version.

I was a little hesitant in the beginning but I'm digging the show.

I did get a laugh that the all have bad southern accents. I've met a fair number of country singers. I can think of many that don't have southern accents.

The two little girls are the ones from GMA that were singing and beat boxing to a I believe Katy Perry song? The PTB saw them and decided to hire them to play the daughters. They started on youtube and look at them now....amazing!!!::cheer2:

Has it been mentioned how old Rayna was when her mother passed? Just wondering if she is not her father's bio daughter. The sister said the mom had the affair for at least 10 years.

I really love Deacon, wish he would walk away from Juliette though. I think Rayna's husband is going to end up in jail, he has definitely done something sketchy in the past.

Those 2 little girls can really sing!

Can't wait for tonight's episode to start. I'm anxious to see how they explain Juliette's thievery.

It's interesting so far, I will say as a local, I don't know anyone who would walk from the Gulch to East Nashville.
