Official Meet Thread 2/7/14 Disney Magic!!!!!!!!

Ok found the FB page and just requested to be added...... Still looking for the Fish Extender group...sounds like it will be fun for the kids

We have a fish extender group on our Facebook page. :) we actually just started a second group because the first group closed. °o°

Howdy doodle doo everyone,

We just booked this cruise with a great Florida resident rate.

I notice I have cruised with one of you before.:yay:

I won't say who and will see if you remember me, of course you may not want to admit you know me. :rolleyes1
I will give one hint to you. It was a Bananahead cruise on the Magic!!

My name is Kathy and DH is Greg.
No family with us this time. We just decided we wanted a nice 3 day weekend and booked this cruise 15 minutes ago. We live in Winter Haven Florida.

We are Platinum members for several years now. I have lost count of our DCL cruises and I keep forgetting to add them to my signature.

We can't wait to see the newly remodeled Magic.

I see a few of you are celebrating this as your first cruise. You're in for the time of your life. Just relax and Disney will take care of everything. It is truly magical for adults too.

Ok time to get this party started around here!!!:goodvibes

This cruise is just about 3 weeks away. This thread needs to liven up a bit.
I will warn you I post everyday and multiple times if people respond. I love all things Disney!!

Cindy, Please add me to FB. I did do a request, I hope it went through ok.

Do you have a meet planned?

Is the FE closed now, if not I would like to join but I understand if its closed at this late date.:thumbsup2

Anybody here make door signs for their cabin?
I love making them. I need to get some magnetic paper this weekend so I can make 2 or 3 of them. Mine are very simple since I have no crafty talents but I like them.

I am looking forward to chatting with everyone about this cruise.

Kathy:flower3:

What is a fish extender?

Carrie

A FE is a holder (usually 2 or more pockets) you hand outside your door by a thread or wire cord. When you join the FE group for your cruise people there will leave you a gift in your extender sometime during your cruise and you will do the same in return for them.

Here is a photo of a pirate themed one. I am happy to post the links on how to make one if you want it. I hope that answers your question.

Ok so I just found the link to the the facebook group. I just sent a request. This is our first Disney Cruise. We are heading out from California with our best friends. In total 5 kids under 6, are we crazy? Maybe but we are super excited. Any tips for the cruise or Disney World?

Carrie

Tip for Disney world is to study the map of the park before you go to it. Be to the park just prior to opening so you can get a fast pass for the more popular attraction immediately. Then while your waiting for that time, go do the 2nd most popular attraction before it gets busy. As soon as the fast pass is used up get another one for another attraction. That saves on the lines.

Plus on the map it will tell you which attractions have child swap so adults can still ride attractions the kids can't while taking turns watching the kids in a special waiting area. You swap adults staying with the kids so you only have to wait in line once. The rules will be explained to you. It saves time and frustration.
NEVER do Magic Kingdom on Saturday. Locals seem to flock there on Saturdays and the lines are terrible.
Pick out just 3 or 4 main things in each park that are a must do and do them first, then anything you have time to do is just a nice plus and you wont be disappointed you missed something you really wanted to do.

Don't go with the expectations you are going to see and do it all because that just wont happen unless your there for many, many days.

We go to WDW almost every weekend. So if your not sure which rides have the longest or slowest moving lines just ask and I can tell you.

Back later with a few tips for the cruise.

Kathy

All of my cruise it has always been meant to be inexpensive and often is a home made gift. Just be away that many people are flying os it must not be fragile and be easily packed in a suitcase.

Things we have received in the past are:
Disney book marks
Disney stickers
candy of all kinds
personalized candy bar wrappers on a candy bar. Often with a photo of the ship on it and the name of the group or the date of the cruise.

Home made cork coasters

mini bottles of rum or assorted booze
rubber pirate ducky
CD with Disney songs on them
Mini home made photo albums

Disney calendar (mini size)

Disney themed pens or pencils
Personalized pens and pencils

Disney stamper
crocheted coasters

assorted candies from the islands we visit.
Mini cook book
crazy straws
personalized cool wraps for pop cans

There is not end of what you can give or receive.
A few things we have received I wont mention  :faint:

I hope that helps answer your questions about the FE.

OFFICIAL MEET!!

Everyone is welcome to come and meet up face to face On the Disney Magic.

Its great fun to meet up and you'll be surprised how many times you will see a familiar face during the cruise once you've met people. You probably won't know their name but you'll know they are from your group. Hopefully you will stop and say hello.

Promenade lounge at 3:15 P.M. on the first day is our meet.

For the new people this is a family friendly lounge. After boarding the ship the crew usually sends you to the left and down the hall for lunch. The Promenade lounge will be on your left as you walk down the hallway.

There is a bar there for anyone who wants to have a tropical drink to get their cruise started .
Lots of tables and chairs to have a seat and visit or feel free to just walk in for a minute to say hello. I will figure out some thing so you will recognize our group to walk up to because odds are others will be wandering through too.

I have had many meets there and it was nice and easy to do.

We all know once we get on the ship everyone heads to the kids clubs or pool areas after eating, but please take a minute to drop by and say Hello.

People will need to leave just before 4 P.M. so they can be ready for the safety drill.

I will post a reminder about this later so hopefully everyone will hear about it before the cruise.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me, either here or on the FB page or my e-mail is below. Just put the cruise date on the subject line or I will delete you.

I am looking forward to getting to know as many people as possible on this cruise. Booking so late I don't have much time. But I am a chatter box on the threads so I hopefully will get to know a few of you.

Kathy

Good morning everyone :goodvibes

I hope your day is off to a good start.

Hard to believe its only 17 days until we cruise. I usually have to wait over a year when we book a cruise. This is so great only having to wait a few days.

Now to figure out my door signs and FE gifts. All of you have probably done your door signs and FE gifts already.

Back again soon,

Kathy

Are any of you doing any excursions at Nassau or Castaway Cay?

We always rent bicycles on Castaway Cay and ride around the island but other than that we just play it by ear there. Sometimes the wind makes it way too cold to go in the water for us.

At Nassau we have already done all the excursions we wanted to do there.
So we just walk through town and shop. Sometimes we go through the Pirate museum for something to do. Its pretty good and cheap admission too.

Kathy

We've been to Nassau a couple of times, but never got off the boat, except once to Atlantis. Where do you usually walk in Nassau. We wouldn't mind doing something for an hour or two. Any recommendations?

The Pirate museum is only a 5 minute walk from the ship. Its 2 blocks behind where the straw market use to be when it was a tent. If that doesn't help you, you can google Nassau Pirate museum and they have a map. Its a big purple building right across the side street from a historical church which is interesting to walk inside too. The museum use to be $12 per adult and the church is free. You can actually see the purple building from the top deck of the ship if you know where to look.

Also if you walk down the main road along the water front to the left when you get off the ship, go down to the bridge and there is a fish place to eat where they cook off freshly caught sea food that is really good.

If you stay on the water front road but walk down to the right around the corner past Senior frogs just a little ways you will come to Queen Anne's staircase and if you walk up them you will see a fort you can walk through. Usually there are vendors with souvenirs pretty cheap there too. Be sure and dickers for prices if you go in the straw market.

Of course if you want to shop the entire area is full of stores, just walk over 1 block and the roads are filled with nicer stores and some outside merchants.

I wouldn't want to walk farther than that due to safety issues. But tourists will be all over the places I described.

Kathy

Thanks so much!!!

Your Welcome.

I will tell you if you go to this museum that the first place where you enter is dark. (In case you have kids who don't like the dark). It is a night scene at a dock and you go on board the ship and its well lit after that.

If I can help with any questions please feel free to ask. I am happy to help when I can,

Kathy

Good morning everyone,

I hope you're all having a great day.

It wont be long now and we will be on the Magic having a Magical vacation.:cool1:

Kathy

I was just curious how many of you are going to make door signs or do something else to decorate your cabin door?

I usually make 2 or 3 magnetic signs to put on my door.

One thing I have always enjoyed was seeing all the decorated doors as I deliver my FE gifts. I purposely try to walk every deck all the way around the ship just to see the doors. Its a good way to walk off a big meal for us.:thumbsup2

:cheer2: OFFICIAL MEET :cheer2:

Place: Deck 3, AFT, Promenade Lounge
Day: 2/7/14
Time: 3:15 P.M.

Everyone is Welcome ( Kid friendly Lounge) to come and meet your fellow posters. This is very informal, just drop by and say hello and then leave when you want to start the most Magical vacation you’ve ever had.

Once you meet you will be amazed how many times you will see others around the ship during your cruise. It really adds to the fun to the cruise to see a familiar face and stop to chat for a minute or two and see what everyone has been doing.

If you’re new to the Magic just go to the Atrium which is mid ship, deck 3.( Where you boarded the ship). Then head AFT and you will see the Promenade Lounge on your left, right by the Internet Café.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me and I will try to answer them for you.

Hope to see everyone there!!

I will repost this a few times on FB and the Dis Boards so everyone has a chance to see it.

Kathy

Would anybody like to see pictures of a Disney cruise to add to the excitement for this cruise? I think photos really add to the excitement of planning a cruise but I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. If nobody objects I thought I might share a few photos over the next few days. I am hoping you repeat cruisers will do the same.
Please let me know if you folks would like to share some photos here. I think it would be fun.
