****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Hey! I feel like I'm jumping on this a little late! But I'm so excited to say me and my hubby are going May 10-16, and staying at Pop! This is both of our first trips to WDW EVER! :rotfl:

:woohoo: I know you will have a fantastical, magical trip!

Oh - and :welcome: to the Dis!

Please Help fellow May Disers with these questions:

1) What are your thoughts on Garden Grocer?

2) Do you need to show your Delta Airmiles Card to get a free bag upon arrival at airport?

Thanks in advance for helping answer everyone’s questions!

1. We used Garden Grocer last trip, really good service they provide. If we weren't on the DDP we would be using them again this trip. Can't recommend them enough.

2. Also, don't fly Delta so can't help. Sorry.

HI everyone!!! WE will be at WDW in May...:banana:

Who - Me princess: and Hubs pirate:

When - May 2nd to May 6 (actually I'll be there at a conference from April 29 -May 2nd then hubs is joining me) :thumbsup2

Where - Pop (for conf I'll be at the Yacht and Beach Club) :woohoo:

Why - to celebrate everything but mostly hubs first trip (we also will make this a really belated Disneymoon trip - Married Nov 30 2008 LOL, life just gets in the way sometimes) :cheer2::cool1:

The Plan :goodvibes

May 2nd move to Pop and wait for Hubs to arrive then head to Hollywood Studios for some Toy Story Mania and Fantasmic!

May 3rd - up early for a day at the Magic Kingdom with a late breakfast at the Crystal Palace, watch the 3pm parade, MSEP and Wishes - I am hoping to get the Dessert Party for this night when they release the May dates.

May 4th - up early for a day at the Animal Kingdom with an early breakfast with Donald at the Tusker House. End the day with a late dinner at Ohana hopefully catch Wishes from the dining room. This is our Honeymoon/romantic dinner.

May 5th - up early again for a day at Epcot, make sure to watch Illuminations

May 6th - up early for our last moring.. We have early breakfast reservations for Chef Mickey's then will head to the Magic Kingdom for some magic before we have to leave - hope to get on the 6:45 pm flight so we won't need to leave the park till about 2 and the hotel about 3ish.. expect to be home around Midnight.. :sad1:

Isn't there another service that shops for you and delivers it? I can't remember the name of it but it seemed a lot more reasonable than Garden Grocer and you can choose your brands.

I know there is wegoshop.com also.

That's it! Thanks! That's the one we plan to use... my husband is picky and will only eat certain brands. I know you can request them on gardengrocer but their prices are so high, I'd rather just pay one surcharge and get all that we need.

Kind of joining in late, but we finally decided to move our trip up from July to May!!!

My fiance and I are not planning on getting any outside food... we don't eat much to begin with, so one table service, one quick service, and a snack a day seems like a lot to us. We also get refillable mugs. :confused3 I mean, we might get candy for the plane or something, but that's it.

In other news, I FINALLY found a way to purchase (non-vintage) postcards from Disney before actually getting there. DeliverEars (800) 362-4533. I just ordered 20 different kinds of postcards of the Disneyworld Cinderella castle, :cool1: it cost $4 more than it would have in Florida, but it's a weight off my back, so I'm fine with that.

Basically, I have a lot of friends who are massively (and lightheartedly) jealous about me going to the parks, so I wanted to get postcards early, and have them pick their favorite picture/card out. Then they write their mailing address on it, I add the stamps, and I take them to Disney with me. Then each day I write to several of them, and add a sticker of their favorite character, and they get a little piece of the magic. :tinker: They're all excited about getting their cards, and I'm excited about writing them comments about my trip and using the main street mailboxes in Magic Kingdom! :D

That's awesome! I might have to check into that since I wanted to get some pre-trip as well!

I know all kids are different. I also thought I should get my kids into the magic on their first night. They were 5 and 6 on our first trip and we made the mistake of planning too much that first night.....all they could talk about the next day at Epcot was returning to the resort to swim!

So, in 2010, we learned our lesson and booked our first day with swimming and relaxing.

In 2012, they want to do the same. We arrive at noon, we will let them swim, do dinner at Chef Mickeys, and then early to bed for our first full day at Epcot!

Thanks, I'm kind of leaning towards just swimming and taking it easy, exploring the resorts...after a 4.5 hour flight and surviving ME transport they might want to just chill out and swim...

ME's pretty easy to use and the kids will probably enjoy it - especially if they have a fun driver. The bus has plush seats and TV's where they show Disney cartoons and a video about the parks. You'll also go through the big arch that says "Welcome to Disney World" so if you want pics of that, sit near the front of the bus.

I know you'll have a magical trip! :goodvibes

Just made reservations for a surprise May trip! :) We'll be there from May 23rd-May 31st... we've gone in May before, but usually we head back home right before Memorial Day, so I'm a little nervous about those Memorial Day weekend crowds.

This will be our first time to surprise the kids...I'm super excited! :yay:

We'll be staying at All-Star Sports (a first for us...hope we like it!)

This is also a different trip for us because it's the first time it will be just me, my dh, and the kids...my mom has always accompanied us in the past.

We're going to be doing the Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony at Epcot on the 27th, so that will be cool.

Also... this will be our first time doing Mickey's Backyard BBQ.

Oh, and last but not least, my baby boy will FINALLY be 40 inches tall! :woohoo:

Whew, thanks for letting me share.... it's gonna be really hard to keep the secret until we leave! :goodvibes

Congrats on booking the trip! Sounds like you have a fun time planned already. Here's hoping all of the crowds work out in your favor. :wizard:

Do you know yet how you plan to surprise the kids? Are you waiting until the day of? We haven't told ours yet and it's killing me!:upsidedow My plan is to surprise them with the news a couple of weeks before so they can enjoy some of the anticipation, just not too soon though so when they find out they can be really REALLY excited since it won't be too far away. Fingers crossed I don't spill the beans before I plan to.

I notice in your sig you've been the last 2 years in May, and you said you usually leave right before Memorial day. What has your experience been like during those times (crowd and weather wise)? We'll be at Disney and Universal for a week with our last day in the parks on the Friday before Memorial Day (the 25th). We've only been to Disney in November with low crowds and great weather, so I'm a little nervous. Although, our trip to Universal was in June when it was 105 degrees. The crowds were quite low (pre-Grand-Opening @ WWoHP) and we survived just fine (hot & sweaty as all get out, but fine), so I know we'll have a good time no matter what, but it would be nice to have a clear idea of what to expect at Disney during that time period, if you don't mind sharing.

I'm also looking for experiences during the Memorial Day timeframe. We'll be there at that time and I'm nervous about the crowds. Especially since the Saturday and Sunday before are MK days for us!

Thanks! I am so very excited!! It's been 22 years since I was at WDW (now I feel old!) these next 98 days better fly!

That's a GREAT idea! I think I will send postcards too :) We are gone for 19 days so if I send them within the first few days it shold work out well. Thanks for the idea :thumbsup2
