****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

I know, it's VERY sad isn't it??? With Big Thunder closed and Test Track closed and Splash in bad unpredictable form i feel heartbroken. I sure hope Splash holds up b/c those 3 highlight attractions being closed at once would not be a good thing :sad2:

I agree!

I am SO happy to be planning a trip to Orlando right now, but it is a little bittersweet since TT and BTMRR are my family's #1 favorite rides at MK and Epcot.

We'll be in the parks between May 20-25 and TT is scheduled to reopen the 26th (I believe?), so I'm crossing my fingers that maybe we'll luck into a soft reopening. Surely they won't wait until Memorial Day weekend crowds to try it out at all will they? I'd think they might want to run a few people through first so they can work out any kinks. But then again this is probably just wishful thinking on my part.

Yes, that is amazing, I love it!

I've been off the boards for about 2 weeks, is it certain that Test Track will be closed in May?

ETA: Just found the thread that confirms TT will be closed. My daughter will be so bummed.

Snow White (Kayla) - that is AMAZING!!! If I didn't already have a count down up on our door i would be ALL OVER yours!!! You did an amazing job!:thumbsup2

Thanks!! :goodvibes

If anyone ever needs it in the future be sure to let me know!

Almost under 100 days until our trip!!

Omg! I didn't hear about splash mountain...that's my favorite and have been telling my grandsons how much they will love that ride! We will be there from may 18-25. I sure hope it's open!:worship:

It's not that they are saying it will shut down or anything - I've just heard that there are ALOT of parts not working in it and it's been prone to be closed off and on. They are saying they do not have access to the parts that they need so for now they will do nothing about it. Probably stall tactics b/c it would be really bad to have all the renos in FantasyLand plus Big Thunder down and then take away Splash too to fix it up. I just HOPE it's working when I'm there. Ya, the moving animatronics are great but it'll still be fun just to go through it anyway.

Arrrgh, if Splash Mountain is closed I'll be so sad :( That's my favorite! I hope it's open atleast one day during the week!

:cool1:

Got several dining reservations already taken care of:

Breakfast:
Boma - Flavors of Africa - Third Visit :yay:

Lunch:
San Angel Inn - First Visit

Dinner:
Liberty Tree Tavern - First Visit :yay:
Les Chefs de France - First Visit :yay:

I plan to perhaps add a few more...I am about to try to get a fantasmic dinner package lined up in the next day or so for Mama Melrose.

Other must do food stops will be

Earl of Sandwich - Fourth Visit
Peco Bills - First Visit
Harbor House - Second Visit

We will be using Ride Max once again this trip...It's worked AWESOME every time we have used it. ;) Will be using undercover tourist mouse savers for our park tickets.

We are also going to be doing Universal at least one day...probably two.

According to the Disney website, BTMRR is closed for refurb from Wednesday, February 01 - Sunday, May 27. Maybe they'll get done early :thumbsup2

So far there is nothing about Splash being down officially...

93 days to go

Anyone have an idea what we should expect from may 14-19th. I know SWW star that week but anything else?

Nevermind that I've had ADRs since last November, it took us this long before we finally settled on resorts and the spring offer (though I'd switch to free dining if that becomes an option...fingers crossed). We're staying POR from May 20-31, and then switching to AoA on May 31-June 3 to enjoy the grand opening. :cool1: It's our first split stay, and we aren't going to tell the kids about AoA. They will think we are checking out to leave that day. Instead, we will checkout, visit GKTW (former wish child), and then wonder back on property to check out AoA...and check in! We love surprising them on Disney trips!

So excited now!!:dance3:

Wow....that is a great surprise for them! Good luck keeping it a secret!

I agree. that will be a cool suprise. You always feel a little deflated on leavng day b/c it's so sad to go and then BAM!!!! Guess what - we get a few more days of magic

What's NOT to love about that??? lol

If BTMRR is open earlier, that would be grand (I'm going May 13-20). But if something official pops up for SM, I will not be pleased...

...I can't imagine they would close both at the same time, though... I swear I'm not having wishful thinking. :rotfl: It's just, to me, they're two of the major rides for that side of the park. They would close them at different times, I think. Unless something was a safety hazard.

Thanks, Dan and Wakica! We're telling the kids about POR tonight...let the countdown begin...99 days! :yay: We'll just have to keep our stories straight about when we're coming home, that will be the challenge, and not telling anyone at home that might spill the beans!

Annadesu, I agree, no way would Splash go down at the same time as BTMRR. :scared1:

Off to make my countdown chain...thanks Snow White/Kayla for sharing! :worship:

What are you Celebrating?
My sister's 1 year anniversary of "smobriety!" To celebrate the freedom of her lungs we are taking on the Expedition Everest Challenge. :thumbsup2

Are you a pin collector?
I love pins! Though I guess I am not a true collector, because I don't care too much about the sets, I just buy the ones I like.

What is your first full day plan?
No real plan the 1st day. We'll be coming in on the red eye so will drop our bags and probably head to MK for some lunch and to just soak it all in. :pixiedust

What is your favorite place in WDW to have breakfast?
Crystal Palace! We love Tigger, Pooh and friends but we especially love getting in to MK while it is still (mostly) empty and sparkling.

In order, what are you favorite parks to see? 1 being your favorite, 4 being the last one you will visit.
This is the hardest question! In trying to narrow it down I was thinking "Ok, if I could only visit 3 parks, which ones would it be?" But I can't imagine ever skipping any of them! But I guess I'd have to rank them like this: AK - EP - HS - MK. The MK being last only because the other 3 parks are unique and not found anywhere else...but don't make me choose!

Do you have a PTL, PJ, or Pre-Dining Report?
Nope.

Tell us about your favorite experience with a CM at WDW!
I was with my daughter and her high school choir in WDW last year. DD was wearing her B-Day button so one of the Main Street CM ladies was talking to DD and it came up she was with the choir. The CM said "I'm the Main St. Music Teacher!" so they settled on singing "Part of Your World" together while walking arm and arm down Main St. Priceless! :goodvibes

What is your favorite snack in all of WDW?
School Bread - yum!

What is the first ride/attraction you will go to in Epcot?
This trip it will be Soarin' because we've missed it the last 2 trips! We were too busy running back and forth between M:S and TT, so this trip with TT down, we'll have more time.

What is your favorite restaurant in DTD?
Earl of Sandwich! Though there are a couple of new ones to try this trip.

What is you favorite viewing place for the following WDW events?:
1. Illuminations 2. Wishes 3. Dream Come True Parade

1. Japan 2. Middle of Main Street or the Tomorrowland bridge 3. Frontierland

What Resort did you pick and why?
Pop Century! I absolutely love this resort and because it fits our budget.

What is your #1 Tip for 1st time visitors?
Allow yourself to find the magic! :cloud9: Don't overplan and run from here to there - no matter how hard you try you won't be able to see it all in one trip -you will miss so much if you are rushing past to get to something else.

Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?
Fly! It's a lo-o-o-ng drive from Seattle ;) but I really hope to someday live within driving distance of WDW.

Thanks for putting up the questions - it's been fun answering them!

Thanks, Dan and Wakica! We're telling the kids about POR tonight...let the countdown begin...99 days! :yay: We'll just have to keep our stories straight about when we're coming home, that will be the challenge, and not telling anyone at home that might spill the beans!

AoA will be so much fun! We wanted to stay but they only had the family suites so we'll just be walking around to visit!

You're welcome! Enjoy. :)

Only a little more than 100 days, I'm so crazy excited! I'm starting to work on the facts to put underneath my countdown. Does anyone have any websites or DIS threads of Disney facts they could share? I've been searching through DIS threads, but I'm afraid to use too many since there are a few that are incorrect.

I couldn't leave well enough alone and made yet another change to our vacation plans.

Since we are staying at WDW one night prior to our Disney Dream cruise, I had planned on saving a bit of money and booked a reservation at a value resort. But, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted to try another moderate (we are CBR fans) even if it was for just one night.

After three phone calls, I was finally able to talk to a super nice castmember who modified my existing reservation from All Star Music to Port Orleans Riverside. There were no standard rooms available in the system but he worked his magic and was able to pull a room out of inventory and I was still able to get the discount. I am not going to tell my husband or son about the change but rather let it be a surprise.

So, now we are staying at POR for one night, going on the Disney Dream for three nights and then staying at CBR for six nights.
