****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

Wow! We have some great followers on this thread :)

Any idea when we will get to our maximum # of posts?

Who is loving the fact that May 1st is less then 3 months away!

DH just agreed to let me plan a trip for THIS MAY!!!:cool1::banana::cloud9::cool1::banana::

Our schools built several snow days into this year due to the fact that we had 6 days to make up last year and they didn't want us going all the way up into the middle of June again this year, BUT (so far anyway) we haven't had any snow days at all, so looks like the kids' last day might actually be May 23rd. As far as we know, many schools across the country should still be in session until at least Memorial Day weekend (right????).

So anyway, all this means that we've decided to try to take the kids out a little extra early and head to Orlando arriving Saturday, May 18th and checking out Saturday, May 26th! It's probably the only way we'll ever avoid peak times again since DD's classes are only getting harder/busier and taking them out of school is becoming less of an option.

I planned for well over a year for our last trip, so this will be a real whirlwind for me, but thanks to all of you guys and the fact that I've been keeping up with the DIS boards more or less, it should definitely be doable.

Is there anything in particular I should know about the week before Memorial Day this year? Crowds/weather/events/closures? I already know a little about Fantasy Land Expansion (although I don't suppose I know everything about it; just that it's happening) and that Test Track will be closed, as well as BTMRR, (those are two of our absolute favorite rides, but not a deal breaker I suppose), but is there anything else we should know? And do you think there's any chance of a soft reopening on BTMRR? Will they really wait until the busy holiday weekend to do anything with it at all?

We are most likely staying at that other Orlando place (uni) due to costs and the fact that the kids LOVE WWoHP and the only way we're touching that is with onsite Express Pass, but we will definitely spend a day at MK and one at Epcot, too. Any suggestions on what days of the week would be best for an offsite guest at each of those parks, for those of you who have already had time to think about such things?

This is all so sudden (& CRAZY), but I am over the moon about it right now! Any advice you guys/gals can give would be greatly appreciated. :goodvibes

for Momw/aplan:
How exciting!!

It looks like Monday, Tuesday and Weds (21, 22, 23) will be your best park days, everything else will be in the 9 out of 10 ranges starting Thursday the 24th right before the holiday weekend. For MK I'd probably go with the Tuesday option.

Enjoy your planning, you still have 4 months to plan, so it's totally do-able!

That's awesome!!! Where are you staying? We are booked offsite as well at Windsor Hills. Only 2 min drive from our door to WDW entrance so I can't complain too much and I'm super thrilled to have a kitchen, 2 bedrooms, a library, living room and balcony :)

So, I finally finished all of them! I saved each as a pdf so you can open it in adobe. Just printed one out and it looks really clear and good. They print on a 8.5x11 piece of paper, besides the 100-81 which is 8x10 because I wasn't sure of how it would work. If anyone wants a copy of them send me a PM with your email address and I can send the pdfs to you! I may have to send each pdf seperately. Each pdf is directly editable in older photoshops. I got all my clipart from; http://www.disneyclips.com & http://disney-clipart.com/ :goodvibes

What kind of CS meals is everyone planning?.

Sunshine Seasons & Liberty Inn
Restaurantasaurus
Cosmic Ray's & Pecos Bill's
Mara a few times since we are staying at AKL.

Question: do you think we could get Pecos Bill's and take it to Tom Sawyer Island to eat & then let the kids play a little? Or does that not sound doable?

Question of the Day:
What is your first full day plan? What park will you be visiting? Do you have any ADR plans that day?

Since I'm joining late, I'm answering a few questions but not all since this is our first trip to WDW. Arrival day we are heading to MK, ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. First full day, Epcot rope drop, plan to ride Soarin' first (think I just answered another day's question :)) ADR at Akershus.

Question of the Day:
Will you drive/fly or take the train to WDW?

Fly. And we just bought our tickets today because I was holding out for prices to come down and they did! I am so excited!!! Now all I have to do is buy a photpass Cd and everything but tips and souvenirs is paid for! Yay!

Snow White (Kayla) - that is AMAZING!!! If I didn't already have a count down up on our door i would be ALL OVER yours!!! You did an amazing job!:thumbsup2

Yes, that is amazing, I love it!

I've been off the boards for about 2 weeks, is it certain that Test Track will be closed in May?

ETA: Just found the thread that confirms TT will be closed. My daughter will be so bummed.

So close, and yet, so far! D:

Quick service meals, we sort of just... wing it. We usually use them for breakfast. Then we use the snack for "lunch". Then by dinner time we're starving and finish everything!

On the first day, we have to get up at 4am to get on the plane... it'll be 5pm or so before we set foot in the part. Since everyone is arriving late, we picked a 7:30pm dinner time... so we better make sure to eat on the plane, or we'll probably die. lol

I know, it's VERY sad isn't it??? With Big Thunder closed and Test Track closed and Splash in bad unpredictable form i feel heartbroken. I sure hope Splash holds up b/c those 3 highlight attractions being closed at once would not be a good thing :sad2:
