****Official May 2012 Thread**** ALMOST TIME TO LEAVE!!

I have to make our tyedye shirts yet (this will be my first time - i hope they turn out!)... I also made Animal Kingdom shirts, Red Pirate shirts and our "names" with characters inside of them. We try to follow a theme everyday... the other days will just be colors matching or patterns. My husband hates it but everyone else loves it and it's easy to spot the kids if they wonder off for some reason.

We do the same thing:goodvibes My friend made our girls matching shirts for Magic Kingdom. It really was for pictures in front of the castle and the girls wanted to take them off and put tanks on after, but we really got some cute shots of them in the shirts.

So behind each Mickey they pull off will be a sticker of a character I suppose. Is that the surprise? To see what character is behind Mickey? This sounds like such a cute idea and one I may have to "steal" I love being crafty myself and your ideas totally inspired me. Right now I get a blank calendar at wal-mart and let my son and daughter put a sticker on each day to try and help them become aware of the calendar and the days of the week. They love putting a sticker on each day and get a big kick out of it so I am sure your idea would be AWESOME for them. Thanks so much. I am guessing you just buy a regular poster board?? The shirts sound cool too but I have no idea where to start on that project. Never made a shirt before. I make barrettes so I can make all the princess, minnie, mickey, etc into pins and put them on their shirts I suppose. Thanks for the ideas :)

Awww thanks :) Yeah, I just put stickers from 36-80 on one side of the board (under the Mickey heads) and I still have to do the front side with 1-35... I'm hoping to print out some pictures of things at Disney to get us excited (like the castle & Haunted Mansion). Last year we did a countdown with a paper chain and everyday they got to rip one off.

The shirts are super easy... I just print out on iron on transfers and iron them on. I tried to bleach spray some shirts and everyone's turned out except for the kids' shirts... I might have to go over their names in puffy paint just so we can see them. I'm nervous about trying tye dye but we'll see I guess.

We did a countdown for our last trip and we used Mickey Heads with the number of days left. Each day the girls would put a sticker over the numbers. I am not sure what I am going to do this year.

Just did my 2011 taxes. Once that money comes in I'll be paying off the rest of our trip! May can't come fast enough.

Sadly, my tax return this year SUCKS, but hey. It's a few hundred bucks to Disney I won't have to worry about. XD

Slim chance that we go but if it is at all possible it would have to be with FD.

Well since the trip is a complete secret from my kids, my countdown is just my posting here...I do send DH a countdown text every few days..he already thinks I'm nuts with the planning, so I have to just do a private countdown!

If I were to do a full blown countdown my kids would be driving me NUTS for 134 more days!

Me Too! I just have my private countdown...

So, what are you using as a countdown for your trip?

As of right now we really don't have an official way of counting down the days, but we are counting down the weeks.

We have posted thirty pictures in our hall of clips from a Disney Movie. We have 15 weeks left before our vacation; So on a week day we will pick one of those movies, watch it, and take the picture down, and do the same on the weekend. Eventually there will be no more pictures, and we will be on vacation! I'm not sure how we will pick the movie, maybe by just drawing it from a hat.

Kind of silly, but it might be fun.

Excellent DisneyDad16.

With my DD24 we basically watch the Disney animated movies on VHS the weekends leading up to our father / daughter trip. This time I'll likely also go over with her the park map for one park each the last 4 weekends prior to the trip (the ones we brought back last time).

So, what are you using as a countdown for your trip?

Everyday we get a Disney trivia question for each other and the kids try and help us answer it. Sometimes it requires a little Disney research but its fun for everyone. If we find the right answer we change the Disney picture of the day on our desktop. We don't actually start counting with numbers til we get really close or we get to excited.
