Hi everyone, I've been looking for this thread and finally found it We booked our Yacht Club stay for May 18-25th. Our son is 5 and this will be our second time going as a family. My parents will meet up with us a few days as well. I'm starting to become obsessed with the planning now that we're moving into 2012! So exciting!!! Happy New Year

I tried to wait to book my trip until the big announcement, but I just couldnt be patient enough. If the annoubncement is a good enough deal maybe I will beg my DH to let me come back again this year!!!

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Test Track closed? Awww... I never liked Thunder Mountain that much, as long as they don't close Pirates or Splash Mountain. Test Track is disappointing, though! I hope it's not closed the whole time we're there...

It's all still rumoured. So it may not close at all, the rumours suggest that the ride is going to be completely gutted, re-designed & re-branded as Chevrolet.

So if it does close it's probably going to be for a decent length of time.

I'm still hoping it stays open but trying to keep myself from being disappointed if it is.

We will be staying at Pop Century from May 26th to June 9th. Hope to see some DISers there!

I was pretty bummed when I heard this piece of news. BTMRR is my personal favorite ride and TT is my mother's favorite. It'll be a little sad that neither of us will be able to go on our favorite attractions (if I was a betting woman, I'd put money on them refurbishing TT).
However, I look at it as an oppurtunity to improve two already amazing attractions. If it being closed means the rides run smoother, break down less, and offer better ride experiences, than I am all for refurbs.

This is where I originally heard of the plans; but I have recently been doing digging about it. The latest information I have heard is that the plans are signed off but not yet the date. I'm excited for a change but I really like the ride - unfortunately I think it's one of those promises Disney had to make to get GM to sign a new 10 year contract..

No problem, I am hoping they can somehow come to an agreement to just refurbish Test Track. It's still got such a lot to give I think - still if they do go ahead with a more comprehensive overhaul. More of a reason to go back in 2013.

I totally understand why rides need to be refurbed also. Fortunately, BTMRR opens the day after we get there and this is one of my dd's favorite rides. The timing of the TT refurb is unfortunate though (if it ends up being in May). My parents are coming with us this trip and my Dad was really looking forward to riding it. They haven't been to Disney since I was 14 and a lot has changed! We'll have fun no matter what. Maybe they will have to make the trip with us again in the future so they can ride then new and improved version.
