Official May 2011 thread!

63 days for us!!!

Still trying to decide between Carry on only? or Carry on mostly with 1 checked bag?

It's so hard to pack with such small amounts of liquid allowed in carry-ons.

Since I don't want to go through the hassel of taking any liquid through security, we're doing the mostly carry on with 1 checked bag.

omg...how you you manage it with just a carry on bag..we are going for a week and will have at least 3 suitcases!...wish I could do carry on:)

We did in December have 1 checked bag on the way down, with a second checked bag on the return to hold all the stuff. Each of the kids had a bag (one with full sized backpack, the other with her Disney duffle bag), and I had a large tote bag plus purse, dh had small suitcase plus the computer backpack bag. I would expect we can do that even easier in May, as the clothes for the trip will not be as much jeans, sweatshirts, etc and will be more shorts, swimsuits, tshirts, etc.

Ya'll must be much better at packing than I am. I like to have one suit of clothes for every day we are in Disney and then throw in a few extra "just in case" things. Even if the laundry facilities are right beside the CBR quiet pools, I hate doing laundry while on vacation. Thank goodness we drive or we'd have baggage fees out the wazoo.:lmao:

I am so embarrassed. But I'll share just to make others feel better about themselves!

1. Yes, I have packed...with the exception of a few "unmentionables" that will go in at the last minute. I have been packed since 75 days out. Do I sound a little excited? I've also printed out all my itineraries and plans and have my room decorations done.

2. I am going with the Spousal Equivalent for 11 days. Just us two. And we have 4 suitcases. /ahem Ok...one suitcase is almost empty (because I imagine we'll be buying a LOT of souvenirs), but we are checking in 4 bags. Oh, and our carryons are not included in that 4 bag total!

3. I work a sedentary job (computer geek). The Man and I have been walking 3x / week so we aren't huffing and puffing after the first day. I mean, you'd probably smell us coming with the amount of Ben Gay we'd have to slather on us! LOL

54 days. so excited!

39 days and a wake-up, and I haven't started packing yet!!! EEP!!! Must try on all the shorts tomorrow!!

Yippeee!!:cool1:Can't wait! 47 days! But one of the best parts is that we tell our kids in 13 days. I can't wait for them to know!!! :) Planning with them will be sooooo much fun!

I haven't exactly started packing yet, but the Disney box has turned into 2 boxes and a tote bag in the corner of the bedroom! :)

Going to make our countdown calendar this week or next. Just had to post....so excited!!!! :woohoo:

51 days here too! Glad to hear others have packed or have started thinking that way at least because I was starting to think there was something wrong with me when I pulled out the suitcases this weekend!

Just bought our plane tickets for 2nd week of May! :)
Our very first WDW trip!!! :goodvibes

66 days & a wake up!

I've already started packing. DH has wore a Disney shirt 2 nights in a row.. I've got him excited too!

Can't wait! May 15 - 22. Before we leave both of my DS's will graduate from College! DS19 will get an Associates from the college where I am on faculty, May 6 and DS21 will get his BS on May 13! Then we leave on the 15th. May will be a good month.
Everything is pre-paid! I only need to do a pre-order for our photo pass.

I haven't officially started "packing", though the rain ponchos are still in the suitcase from December, I just never unpacked them. And I have started sorting out the clothes/swimwear, etc. in preparation.

I started making a "box" (really a Disney reusable bag and a Disneyland plastic bag) of the things we've bought for the trip, but no packing yet!

I did start our PTR today though! I consider that an accomplishment!

I definately got a little pixie dust today!! Ever since we made our reservation in October, I have been trying to get into the POFQ with the military discount, but all the rooms have been booked. Instead, we had booked the AKL, although we were not really happy with it as we are not fans of the decor there. So, today I finally decided to bite the bullet and change our reservation to the AP discount and switch to the POFQ (even though using the AP discount would be about 300 dollars MORE than we would have to pay at the POFQ using the military discount). Well, when I called, they said there was now a room available with the military discount!! We are so excited that we were finally able to book our first choice and we saved a bunch of money at the same time! :)

Only 48 more days to go!

43 days to go!! We have reached the halfway point from when we booked to when we arrive. I do need to start finding my summer clothes and getting them ready. Planning on packing as lite as possible this time...last trip one suitcase was over the 50lb limit and they wanted us to pay a surcharge....we shuffled things around and managed to lighten it a bit. Gonna keep it simple this trip.
