Official May 2011 thread!

MY DH and I are taking our 4 year old DD to WDW over Memorial Week in May. My DH's parents and sister are joining us. We have a surprise dinner planned for our parents at Shula's Steakhouse and are looking for something to do with my DH's sister. She has CP and Retts Syndrome (wheelchair bound with limited physical abilities). Does anyone have any ideas? We thought about a special place for dessert or a shopping trip to one of the big Disney Specialty stores.

I posted my double digit dance on the Polynesian thread a few days ago. How could I forget to post it here, too?!

I've been in double digits for a few days but been to busy to celebrate

Texas has gotten snow the last few days and its very unheard of in this part of the state. School was closed for 4 days straight.

I'm sick of all this cold weather and ready to be in Florida!

Wow, that is really awesome. I can imagine it will be an emotional, but good trip. I hope the weather will be good for ya'll. I think it is suppose to be in the 70's tomorrow.

Well that stinks to get all excited about it and then have to consider canceling:sad1: Do your other kids know that a trip was booked already?
I can understand his point of view, it is hard having small kids in the heat at such a crowded place...but have you done this before with your other children? If so, how was the experience?

For our first family trip, my younger two were 18 mths & 2.5. We rented a house so it was nice and quiet for naps and we could close the door so the other kids didn't wake them. We got about 3 hours max (mostly 2) at a time at the parks, before it was time to give them a break-which we were prepared for, so we weren't let down.
I would take the babies to the playgrounds at the parks while dh took the older kids on the big rides. That way, they weren't "confined" to sitting in a stroller and not wandering around aimlessly either.
Overall, we had a nice time, we missed out on a lot too, but that is why we are going back 4 years later;)

For our first family WDW trip, our DS was 2.5 yrs at the time. We went in February that year so the heat wasn't bad at all. The next time that we went, he was 7 and our older DDs were 8 and 11 and that was in June. The heat wasn't too bad but we are used to heat and high humidity - we live in Texas!

I'm going to ask our pediatrician what he thinks. I know that he will say that it's really up to us, but he worked at WDW when he was in college so maybe he will actually give us his real opinion! ;)

You must be up around D/FW. I live in College Station and we actually had snow and ice here for the second year in a row! Talk about unheard of!

I'm originally from SA!!! :thumbsup2 I am SO glad that this weekend is supposed to be nice and hearing the weather man say a high in the 70's next week felt like Christmastime! :rotfl:

We are taking another trip in September with my two best friends. We are staying at Animal Kingdom Villas @ Kidani Village. We our DVC members so we try to go at least twice a year or one extended trip a year. This will be the first time that we will stay at Kidani Village and I'm excited for the new experience.

This trip we are staying at our home resort, BLT. I love being so close to Magic Kingdom. I'm excited to share this trip with DF's son. They are going to be able to spend almost 2 weeks together and just catch up with each other's lives. I know there are going to be far more pictures taken this trip then trips in the past. I want them to be able to have pictures of the memories that they are making together.

I have a question for those that visit during the end of May about the Flower and Garden Fesitival:

Do they completely remove all traces of the Festival on the last day? or will they keep it up for a while?

We will be arriving at EPCOT on May 24th, and the festival ends on the 15th - any chance we can still see some of it?
