Official May 17th Alaska Cruise Thread!

Hi liz, bummer you still have no room. In reading the May 3 it seems some of them don't have rooms yet. But tnen again some of Hawaii gty have rooms. I think Disney is playing games with us because one day everything is booked then the next day they are not again. I think they are trying to make it look full to sell faster then switching it up on us. I had called to see f we could so an upgrade with the new.window price, a no go but was told that these prices are available on certain sailing from the start, I think I was getting the run around because they keep changing. It will be interesting to see how full the ship is.

Well if May 3rd don't have them yet - doubt I will get mine for a long while then! I am curious to see what some fo the IGT May 3 people get.

As for the Hawaii cruise- its tempting (but too much time off school), but when looking at it, its only 4 days in Hawaii and the rest at sea - if I can save up the $$ to go to Hawaii, I want to go to and STAY in Hawaii - not spend 11 days on a ship! If it was a repo cruise where I could stay for a few days after to explore, maybe - but it doesn't appeal to me much. I would rather spend that money on a nice ocean front hotel!

What I've experienced is DCL upgrades repeat cruisers to free up whatever category they think they can sell. Two years ago we booked a verandah room and they bumped us up to a family verandah room about two weeks out. We gained 30 sqft and a higher floor. So it looks like they a freeing up more cat 11s.

I have celebrations for every except for:
masterrocks, disneycruznrn, kris3kid, MontanaDJ, and jisom12

Even if you aren't celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or completing college, you can still celebrate going on your 1st, 5th, or 10th Disney Cruise! Or you could be celebrating going to Alaska for the first time! Let me know if you want to add a celebration to the FE list. It would be cool to have a celebration for everyone listed, that way no one is left out.

Not in the FE, but on the cruise?
Even though you aren't participating in the FE, we don't want you to feel left out! Please let me know if you plan on still attending the DIS meet up or just want to be known that you're cruisin' with us.

Not celebrating anything specific it has just been a few year since we took the kids on a big trip so guess you could say we are celebrating having two great kids:)

Could we also add to the list where everyone is from? We are from Alberta Canada

Hi everyone, We are working our FE gifts but need a few last names. Those with only 1 or 2 people it will work but need the others last name. Those I need are Montana DJ, dfsc, and Masterrocks.

As for celebrations it is our first mother and daughter great get away.:cool1::cool1:

Our last name is Ritter

I know my daughter esspecialy is going to love doing the FE.

Hi all,

I also recommend washing the shirts BEFORE ironing on the transfers, but it is REALLY important to avoid using ANY fabric softener, liquid or dryer sheets, when prewashing the shirts. Fabric softener interferes with the adhesion and quality of the image. I was a manager for JoAnn Fabrics for many years and this is the number 1 recommendation that the producers of the iron on transfer sheets leave out of their instructions!

Have fun and can't WAIT to see you all in a few more days! :dance3:

Becky

Becky,
I agree! In re-reading my advice, I realized I was talking about washing the shirts after applying the transfers! We do wash shirts first, no fabric softener, dry them, then iron on the transfers. Later, when washing the shirts regularly we do use cold water, detergent and fabric softener. Not sure if that's correct, but it has worked out ok for us!

Good luck with your shirts, everyone!

H Everyone!
Lollipop's Mom- Great News the girls will be able to buddy up on the ship!
What a nice Bday present!
Magic Imagineer- your images for the shirts look great, I'll try to get my posts up so I can message you and look for some transfer paper at michael's or joann's. Thank you!
Nick- we would love to participate in the fish exchange. We also love your decorated door and are looking forward to getting some decorations made for ours! We will have late dining and room 7054, sorry to be late in, but it looks like such fun!
Hi Disney Dreams!
S

Tweedle Dees -- I have added you to the list. Do you have any celebrations for the cruise?
What are the names in your family? If you aren't wanting to give your names, it's alright.

Hi,

Yes, I believe your instructions for washing the shirts after the transfers are ironed on are correct. The only thing I do differently is that I hang mine to dry. I have found that the heat from the dryer, even on the lowest heat setting, can cause my transfers to crack quicker than if I hang them to dry. If there are wrinkles after hanging them to dry, I use my iron on the lowest setting and use a cloth to protect my transfers from the iron to remove the wrinkles from the t-shirt.

I really can't wait to see everyone's shirts! This is my second DCL cruise, but my on my previous cruise, we didn't make matching DIS Meet shirts! Maybe we can snag another cruiser to take our pictures at our group meet!

Nick- Thanks for including us on the list. Our last name is Dee & we are Sharon, Ed, Sophie, Rachel & Adam. We are celebrating with a total of 16 family members (8 adults & 8 kids) my father in laws 80th Bday. I wasn't successful in having them join us in DIS stuff. I guess I wasn't clear enough about how much fun this will be!
Montana DJ- I can't speak of the storage area avail in the rooms. Does anyone else have any ideas? I can let you know it's been cool & rainy here in Vancouver this month but we are hoping the weather will hugely improve Mid May! When the sun is out it is spectacular!

Haven't been on the board for awhile because we have been at Disney World celebrating our daughter's 30th birthday with our family.

Nick.turnpchinoff: We are celebrating our 3rd Disney cruise, 1st to Alaska.
And celebrating Life

Montana DJ : We were on the Magic for Thanksgiving and were on deck 2
all the way in the front (right across from performers entry
to the theater) and had no problems with sea sickness.
The Inside Passage probably will be calmer than the
Caribbean also. Just get some over the counter meds.

So now all the insides have disappeared again - no number yet!

Right now I am just so excited that I get to tell Megan she is cruising on May 2nd - it feels like forever!

Cool, I worked for Disney for a little over 5 years. Started in foods at MGM, then attractions in Tomorrowland, then several positions with DCL. Mainly at the airport before DME was created but also at the port and at Celebration.

I worked Merchandise in Toontown.
My wife (cordelia.turpchinoff) worked over in Hollywood Studios

I have an update on our hopeful Palo private brunch.

I faxed in a request last week for 13 people:
Ajojo 1
dfsc 4
Disney Dreams 2
Magicimaginear 2
MontanaDJ 4

I was told to include names and reservation numbers. I have tried MANY times to confirm that the fax was received to no avail. Today I received an email. :yay:

The email stated that currently there is a brunch reservation still available and that I needed to provide names, reservation numbers, and staterooms. :upsidedow

So... upon returning from work I emailed them all the necessary information.

One step closer. :tiptoe:

I also want to copy/paste one specific sentence from the e-mail so everyone is clear on it: "If the Palo Private Room is confirmed, any Guests that have their own independent Palo Reservation will have it removed. Each Stateroom is only allowed one Palo dining per sailing." This has been stated elsewhere in this thread, but I just wanted to share that it was specifically stated in the email. :goodvibes

If you have any questions, let me know.

We just booked this cruise a few days ago. We would love to be a part of the FE festivities but understand if it is just too late. There would be 8 of us staying in 3 cabins on level 8, that is quite a few so just let me know what you think. Thanks!

Welcome to the Pirate of the Inside Passage cruise... Nick will get you signed up to the FE. You can view it on page 5. Also if you would like to join our group shirts let me know. The designs are free but you will have to print them onto transfer paper.
