***Official March 2021 Thread***

We have a short trip (4 nights) and are doing three park days (HS, EP, MK). We arrive at 9:30am Saturday morning and planned to go to DS for the afternoon... now I'm second guessing how busy it might be. We would be gone by 3:00pm, but it sounds like Saturday afternoons can also be busy (though not as bad as night). Do we just add another park day and go to AK without a rope drop? This thing started as a two night, one park trip!!!

I would do AK. I didn’t rope drop it on my October trip and still did everything I wanted to do by 3 in the afternoon.

I'm just over here, twiddling my thumbs, waiting for Disney to release the Flower and Garden menus and update park hours for my trip!

I know I'm not the only one, but man... Waiting is so hard, especially as it inches closer to our departure date. I'm dying over here! 😭😉😂

Me too!! The suspense is killing me! And having this unexpected down time with the weather really made me want to take advantage and plan more.... hard to do when nothing has changed.

I love reading so many people going with their older or adult children! We only have one child and I get so nervous when she's "outgrown" Disney I'm out of luck because my husband isn't as big of a fan. I'll have to make sure she understands Peter Pan and that you never grow up in Disney World!

My DD just turned 21. She is my Disney buddy and only child. We both love Disney and love having our mom/daughter time when we are there. My husband last went in 2018. He enjoys it, but only wants to go every few years or so. DD and I visit a few times every year. We are excited for our upcoming trip the end of March.

Could you elaborate? I'm interested to hear more (since I have ZERO ADRs currently booked 😂)

More than happy to elaborate.

I've been post-COVID twice - in October and the last week of January.

In both HS and MK on both trips, there were crowds hovering around the door waiting for the "your food is ready" notification. And because it's not really set up for people waiting and being distanced, there's just no where to GO until you get your food. PLUS you have all the people just trying to walk by to get somewhere.

In October, we were going to sit at a table outside by the ABC Commissary and the folks waiting for their food to be ready were hovering over the folks sitting at tables eating. We ended up eating inside and the tables were fairly distanced which was fine - but it was the waiting part that was stressful. And this was a similar situation at every single QS I passed in MK and HS.

Last month, I hopped over to HS after spending the morning at AK and saw the exact same thing - I really just wanted a snack and an iced tea, but there was no where to go - all the TS waitlists were full, Baseline Tap House wait was more than an hour (and the line didn't seem very distanced - with people walking THROUGH the dining area to cut through, and the QS places all had about an hour wait to even pick a "slot" for pick up time.

I did NOT pay attention to the QS areas in AK beyond seeing that Satul Canteen had the same situation of people waiting for their orders (I saw when I was going to FOP) (I ate at Nomad Lounge when I was solo) AND didn't really pay attention to QS in Epcot (though with the Festivals, they just need more tables!)

With the parks busier than either of my trips, I just can't imagine this being any different. People, being people, are going to crowd the entrances waiting for their orders. AND if you don't order far enough ahead of time, there may not be pick up slots around the time you want to eat - because if I'm doing Quick Service, it's usually due to LOCATION as much as the food and waiting an hour or longer would put me in another area of the park.

I DID do QS at both The Grand Floridian for lunch one day in October and it was fine. And we did a QS breakfast that the Riviera last month and though it was fine, we had to go to the Bar Riva to eat (they'd opened the tables there since the QS area was pretty packed).

With having an ADR, I know that when I am ready to eat, get away from the crowds, and have a cool place to rest a bit, and take a break from wearing a mask in the heat, I have time and a spot reserved.

Even though there are others checking in at the same time as you, it's easier to distance from others because TS restaurants have waiting areas built in rather than needing to just wait in the walkway for your table. All the tables were distanced at every restaurant I ate at, and beyond the waiter coming to your table, the other patrons aren't just wandering around unless they get up to go to the wash room.

With my ADRs, I can plan my time in the park and know when my breaks will be. If I'm not super hungry (or don't love the menu), I can order just appetizers and/or dessert with a beverage and then bounce.

So, even though I am solo for most of my next trip (meeting friends just my 1st day) I ensured I had a breakfast or lunch reservation each day as well as a dinner reservation (as close to park close as possible). The hardest ADRs to find have been in HS (I lucked into a 6:30 PM Brown Derby on one day for dinner and though I'm not super excited about it, took a Mama Melrose for lunch as it was all their was).

Probably more than you wanted to know but you did ask me to elaborate. :rotfl2:

For anyone there the 1st week of March, they've extended MK 9 AM to 8 PM on Mar 5th, Epcot 11 AM to 9 PM on Mar 5th, and AK 8 AM to 6 PM on Mar 5th

(edited to correct MK hours for Mar 4th)

what's a normal/ average room cost of a studio at beach club villa in March?

I agree with having ADRs... at home we go out like once a week to eat. Back in October we did 2 to 3 ADRS a day. I highly suggest ADRS for most of the reasons TexanintheMidwest said.

I am also really hoping for longer hours the end of March... I will just have to adjust a bit and take afternoon breaks like we usually do.
