***Official March 2021 Thread***

Well...I just checked park reservations for my week and March 22-23 are yellow. HS is full. It’s not exactly a surprise, but I was hoping for an all green week. We weren’t going to be at HS either of those days. However, I figure the other days will turn yellow before we actually come anyway.

Interesting how the theme park ticket and resort guest buckets have been identical this whole time. Makes me wonder if there is no onsite advantage and Disney is grouping those together for park passes.

Right! I’ve never seen a difference between the 2 either.

I'm hopping on here to ask a few questions. Let me know if that is ok - I have had so many trips cancelled with Covid that I'm nervous to pull the trigger but we are feeling pretty good about March 20-27. I see 2 of the days are yellow for HS. Is this considered a busy spring break week for the country? Where I am in NY it's always Easter week. I thought things might be a little less crazy if it's the week before.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!!! It would be our first time traveling since covid started and I want to have a good understanding of what to expect.

Most of March is considered spring break season. There are lots of districts off the week you mentioned. IMO that week will be busy, but probably not as busy as the 2 weeks surrounding Easter.

Yeah, looks like Week of Easter and immediately following and slowly turning yellow.

Actually there were almost all yellow days those weeks, then they went back to all green, and now some yellow again. Seems to be Disney moving around availability between categories and/or people canceling.

I know this has been a talking point for a while, but from my experience, the yellow days at DHS really aren't that bad. I was able to get on everything I wanted to, some more than once with still taking a 2 hour break to shop/go back to our hotel for a breath.

That’s great to hear. With the combo of getting there early and researching a solid touring plan, I’m feeling ok about HS. I’m much more concerned about getting the boarding group!

Yeah I didn't even use a touring plan for our visit. I'm just giving my personal experience with it. We were also there when the hours were 9a-7p which I expect will be the case leading up to Easter and following.

Yes...me too! I’m trying to keep my expectations in check, but we really want to ride ROTR. We’ve got 2 days at HS, so hopefully we get a boarding group at least one of our days!

My BFF decided to join us in Disney and made her park reservations yesterday. HS was showing yellow in the 22nd (the day we are going) and we didn’t think they’d be able to join us that day. However, she was still able to snag HS that day!!!!! So weird!!!! It didn’t show as available, but did when she actually booked!!

It is spring break that week for Arkansas and Portland, OR (maybe everywhere in OR??). If you are looking for low crowds, it’s probably not this week. But, if you have a good plan it’s totally doable.

Is it as busy as Presidents’ Day week? Lol. I’m getting worried now

I don't think so, for four reasons:
(1) For President's day, almost the whole country including the very active local AP crowd had a long weekend, whereas Spring Break is spread out between mid March and early April (notably, Florida spring break is March 15-19, so the week before when we are talking about);
(2) President's day was Mardi Gras week and most of the Mardi Gras festivities were cancelled this year so people with the full week off for Mardi Gras needed something else to do;
(3) it was Valentine's day weekend so popular with couples who are local and want to go have a nice dinner, as well as out of town couples who have special romantic associations with Disney like weddings/proposals/honeymoon, and
(4) So much of America was out of power, out of water, or neither but just miserable at home with sub-zero temperatures because of the unprecedented winter storm that a lot of people figured, "hey let's go be warm in Florida" and took last minute trips.

In other words, President's weekend was the perfect storm (no pun intended vis a vis the winter storm) and crowds were absolutely maxed out to the capacity. I expect the week in March will be busy, the same way late-fall last year (Oct/Nov) was very busy, but I'd be very surprised if we see crowds at President Day Levels, with all parks maxed out of park passes in all categories. More likely some parks like HS and MK will fill, while Epcot and AK remain "green."

I'm trying to stay strong and not get freaked out! I'm from NY and it's still pretty much "locked down" to a certain degree. People are out and about but definitely not at the level I see when I watch Disney vlogs. Schools are still partially open, etc. So, it's probably just a matter of "culture shock" for me.
